Retired lap dancer- ask me anything

It’s not something I tell new people I meet that for 10 years I used to be a very successful lap dancer. I have a very different career now but often reminisce about my secret lap dancing past, always with fond memories!
I think it’s still something that is frowned upon by many and in my view I think that’s largely down to being misunderstood. So if any of you have any questions I will answer them and hopefully give you some interesting insight into the secret world of lap dancing! Ask away.

Well I object to the commodification of women’s bodies. And I think a site aimed at predominantly women is a shitty place to be glorifying it.

I haven’t been ugly and abusive, either. I do think you have an agenda.

I mean, I could start a thread about how great crime and drug use is by cherry picking a few details (its fun and the money is amazing) but it wouldn’t make it a valid career choice to aspire to.

StripStripHooray · 27/06/2018 15:01

I am not responsible for what somebody else's husband does or doesn't do. I'm not responsible for what my husband does or doesn't do. If a partner is going to chest, they will do it regardless. Boundaries within a relationship are personal to that relationship and are to be worked out by those in the relationship. They are nothing to do with the dancer. I will say, I have seen hundreds of men of all ages, from all walks of life in strip clubs, the ones who are uncomfortable there, leave, the ones who don't like it because they know their partner wouldn't like it don't come in.

yourprivatedancerEX · 27/06/2018 15:03

What on earth would my agenda be?

OP posts:
yourprivatedancerEX · 27/06/2018 15:04

And crime and drug use is illegal. Lap dancing is not so it’s not really a good comparison.

So what's a valid career choice to aspire to, tokenbrit?

Please tell me.

StripStripHooray · 27/06/2018 15:07

None of the dancers on this thread have said we go out recruiting? Nobody is saying it's a brilliant career (it's not, it's a job, usually fairly short term) and it's absolutely not for everyone. None of the dancers have glorified it as far as I can tell, we have told of our personal experiences.

You are absolutely within your rights to object to the industry and to this thread.

Confusssed · 27/06/2018 15:08

So much for the sisterhood when you're accusing dancers of being immoral, unethical, selfish and unintelligent. If a man wants to cheat he will cheat in his own bedroom, he doesn't need to visit a lap dancing club.

halfwitpicker · 27/06/2018 15:08

'I've just remembered too about drug taking, within a few days of me starting they sacked a girl for taking coke and took the toilet doors off the loos in the ladies.

Took the toilet doors off? Sounds like such a wonderful environment to work in

^

Let's face it, this could happen at the Big 4

IllHaveALargeGlassOfRed · 27/06/2018 15:28

Tell me about shoes. What shoes were the best for dancing? Were they 6" Perspex heels with 2" platforms?

I know I sound like some hairy handed twat with a shoe fetish but I'm really not!

A shop called Garage used to sell what we would all call "pole dancer shoes" 😳

yourprivatedancerEX · 27/06/2018 15:31

Yes I’m familiar with garage! And yes the huge ones with clear Perspex heels and platform. Sometimes they were filled with water and glitter like a snow globe Grin

yourprivatedancerEX · 27/06/2018 15:33

I’d say this is an ugly and abusive comment Brit.

My personal favourites were 7 inch heel double strap mule by pleaser. Black pair, clear pair, neon pair.

Greenday49 · 27/06/2018 15:42

Glitter is banned in a lot of clubs ive worked in.
I only work 1-3 nights and just magic on the first day and then repeated the following week. It lasts four days but if I've ever worked more I just reapplied when I got regrowth.

Shambu · 27/06/2018 15:47

I don't think it was abusive I think it was true and funny.

yourprivatedancerEX · 27/06/2018 15:52

With all respect shambu you weren’t on the receiving end.

OP posts:
CadyHeron · 27/06/2018 15:57

Ridiculous thread.

Why post and keep coming back to it then? Confused

IllHaveALargeGlassOfRed · 27/06/2018 16:01

I think that's about as abusive and rude as you can get. You don't live up to your name TokenBrit - posh people don't talk about wank magazines 😀

IllHaveALargeGlassOfRed · 27/06/2018 16:04

@StripStripHooray 7"? I wouldn't be able to stand up in them never mind twirl around a pole!

Now @yourprivatedancerEX 6" heels sound much more user friendly!

Smile
SlideAway82 · 27/06/2018 16:21

Men can cheat in a flipping corner shop if thats what they are really set on doing. Ridiculous stance.

And for someone proclaiming to be a feminist TokenBrit you seem to forget that the notion of CHOICE is one of the fundamentals of being a feminist. A woman CHOOSING to be a lap dancer. A woman CHOOSING to dance for money.

And if I or any other woman wanted to do that then who the hell are you to call it 'commodification'?

Shambu · 27/06/2018 16:24

With respect OP, I don't think you can expect to write a loved up apologia for sex work on a women's forum and elicit nothing but smilies and hi 5s.

SlideAway82 · 27/06/2018 16:26

She's not having SEX so how is it sex work?! Jesus Christ almighty.

TokenBritPoshOfCourse · 27/06/2018 16:31

Feminism isn’t about choice. It’s about recognising that those choices don’t happen in a vacuum, and working to change the world so those kinds of ‘choices’ don’t have to be made.

I think talking about sex work like it’s some feminist utopia of sisterly bonding is dangerous and either naive or written by someone with an agenda.

TokenBritPoshOfCourse · 27/06/2018 16:31

Of course it’s sex work!

Shambu · 27/06/2018 16:32

You need to look up the definition of sex work.

SlideAway82 · 27/06/2018 16:35

Feminism isn't about choice? Are you for real? It's about empowerment of females which includes choosing what we do with our own bodies. For example, sex, abortion, and lap dancing.

Who the hell are you to dictate that?
