Rebecca Roberts, also known as Beccy, is a Senior Content Editor and Mumsnet’s home and lifestyle expert. She leads content across some of the biggest purchasing decisions families make for their homes, from mattresses, bedding and sleep products to kitchen appliances, cleaning, laundry and the everyday products designed to make family life run a little more smoothly.
Our resident Leeds lass, her approach is practical rather than pristine. As a mum of two, Beccy knows that a product can perform brilliantly in a lab and still be thoroughly irritating to live with. She looks beyond specifications and marketing claims to consider the things that actually matter day to day: how easy something is to use, how well it performs over time, whether it makes life easier and, crucially, whether it represents good value for families spending their own money.
Long before joining Mumsnet, her journalism career began in 2010 when she took the helm of LJMU’s student newspaper, The Looprevil Press, while studying English and History. After completing her NCTJ postgraduate diploma in Journalism at Liverpool Community College, she moved to Dubai to lead the content team for ExpatWoman, a female- and family-focused expatriate website.
Today, she combines more than 15 years of editorial experience with hands-on product testing and the collective experience of Mumsnet users to produce useful, independent buying advice for busy households.
When she’s not testing mattresses, putting air fryers through their paces or finding new things to clean with a vacuum cleaner, Beccy can usually be found running the PTA, ferrying her two children somewhere or walking her two dogs around the Yorkshire countryside.
