Really disturbing anti science and authoritarian, though I have some sympathy for the brainwashed teacher who is following policy twitter.com/lporiginalg/status/1139572227307794432?s=19

Crikey! That is horrifying! From the accents I am guessing this is in a Scottish school?

😮

Ereshkigal · 14/06/2019 20:22

Just watched this. Wow. 1984.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 14/06/2019 20:23

Well, that's terrifying.

OvaHere · 14/06/2019 20:24

OMG

Well done that young man (although I wish he'd used the term sex).

Totalitarian stuff.

FermatsTheorem · 14/06/2019 20:25

Christ on a bike Shock

Yes indeed, how many fingers am I holding up, Winston.

RedToothBrush · 14/06/2019 20:26

I swear I'm going to teach my son to quote Hannah Arendt and George Orwell by age 8.

Deathgrip · 14/06/2019 20:27

If there are more than two genders (I mean, there could be 847 since genders aren’t a real thing), what does this policy say the others are?

If TWAW, and TMAM, there are still only two... right? Oh, and “non-binary” I guess, but that still implies two.

howwudufeel · 14/06/2019 20:29

i can imagine my DS getting into exactly the same argument because he feels exactly the same as that young man.

GurlwiththeCurl · 14/06/2019 20:29

Well done Murray, although I wish he had said sex instead of gender, but we can’t have everything!

lady69 · 14/06/2019 20:29

Hey Mr Teacher man, your job is to teach scientific fact, not indoctrinate and gaslight bullshit. If i were a parent with a child at this school I’d be on the phone now to the school governors.

borntobequiet · 14/06/2019 20:31

Wow. Well done Murray.

JackyHolyoake · 14/06/2019 20:31

The question is:

What the F**K is Nicola Sturgeon and her government up to?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 14/06/2019 20:33

Funny you should say that...

RubyViolet · 14/06/2019 20:33

Good on that lad ! He’ll go far.

lady69 · 14/06/2019 20:34

Jacky.. betraying women and generation of children. 😞

Cwenthryth · 14/06/2019 20:34

“Not all policy is scientific” is one of the weakest pro-gender arguments I’ve heard yet. It is clearly admitting that the speaker believes it’s fine for policy to be unevidenced.

Yes, the lad meant sex not gender - which is clear at the end when he says there are 2 genders male and female and anything else is personal identity. But fair play to him, he’s under 18 and has grown up with the all-pervasive gender ideology reigning supreme, I applaud him sticking to his convictions even if his terminology was blurred. Also very impressed how calm and concise the young lad was compared to the teacher, a grown adult who I guess is experienced and handling ‘disruptive behaviour’ (not that this was) - the teacher was incredibly flustered and came across pretty aggressively in his tone & hand gestures to a pupil.

FloralBunting · 14/06/2019 20:35

The teacher nearly called Murray 'Brian' at one point. He'll probably feel worse about that than kicking a student out of class for 'unapproved opinions'.

CumannNamBan · 14/06/2019 20:36

Thanks Jackey for putting up a clicky link. Gives a lie to the, "this doesn't affect you" guff.

Awning10 · 14/06/2019 20:38

Leaving aside the rights and wrongs of what the teacher is saying, the filming (and posting on social media) makes me feel very uncomfortable.

littlbrowndog · 14/06/2019 20:45

Should be seen so we know what is going on in our Scottish schools

CumannNamBan · 14/06/2019 20:45

Awning, it would be better if the teachers face was blurred out, but other than that this is the only way to get the word out as to what is going on, so I think he was right to post.

cherryblossomgin · 14/06/2019 20:46

If the teacher openly agreed with him he would probably be sacked. They are in a tough position. I don't think he sounded that aggressive but I am from Scotland. Schools should allow discussion in class.

Cwenthryth · 14/06/2019 20:46

Uncomfortable or not (and I agree, being filmed without consent in the workplace is dodgy ground) I can absolutely see the justification for this, it is whistle blowing, children being indoctrinated/sanctioned for thought crime by their teachers.
