Pregnancy After Infertility IV

Blueroses99 · 10/02/2017 06:40

Pregnancy after infertility or fertility treatment can be a scary place, from scanxiety to unexplained bleeding to other random symptoms.

We are a supportive group of women across all stages of pregnancy who are used to being on the wrong side of the odds and still can't believe it's really happening.

Thanks blueroses Xx

kizzle · 10/02/2017 08:02

Hi, can I join please?
Currently 15+1 pregnant with my first, after a very lucky and successful first IVF treatment.
Very nervous and every twinge is sending me running straight for google!
Looking forward to getting to know you all and reading your stories.

Sara237 · 10/02/2017 08:17

blueroses sorry you're feeling drained- what with the stitch, the move and just being preg, here's to a restful weekend. Look after yourself.
Sammy sorry you're being messed around when you're all psyched up for it, what a let down. Will it be the weekend? Thinking of you today x
kizzle welcome, you are amongst like minded on here. Its a scary and surreal time. I also frequent google way too much. I am trying to enjoy the experience but its tough! Glad you found this there's a wealth of knowledge on here plus lots of support and empathy.

kizzle · 10/02/2017 08:32

Sara thank you.
I'm glad I found this thread, I've been lurking on these boards for a while but haven't felt 'pregnant' enough to believe I'm allowed to post on them!
Daft isn't it.
I have a few helpful apps which help put my mind at ease with different symptoms and what's going on in there.
I have my 16 week antenatal on Thursday & my 20 week scan is booked for 7th march which puts me at 18+6.

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/02/2017 08:35

Waddles in

Thanks blue for starting new thread

Sammy hope you get a new cs date if today if def cancelled

Kizzle. Welcome :)

Friends yes tummy is rock hard in places. Usually below boobs or under belly button

Bubs is doing major sumasaults most days. Lovely to feel actuary but getting to the ouch not much room now

Grumpelstiltskin · 10/02/2017 08:53

Checking in too- thanks blueroses!
Hope you're managing to get some rest.

Sammy sorry to hear about the delay, how massively frustrating once you'd got yourself all mentally prepared! But echoing blondes in that an extra day or two of growth is probably no bad thing. Can't wait to hear your news though! So excited for you and these little twins.

MPP hope you got some useful info at your appointment and are feeling ok.

Thinking of those who are having a tough time with sickness and hope it eases off soon.
Welcome kizzle!

Afm, one week officially to go here and am finding it all massively surreal. Pelvis is sore, turning over in bed is a Herculean effort but am so so grateful to have got this far. Just playing the waiting game now...

Big wave to everyone out there. Flowers

Custardandcream · 10/02/2017 09:05

Blue sorry you're feeling exhausted hope you are getting lots of rest

Sammy how frustrating for you, hope they give you another date today if they don't go ahead

Kizzle welcome, we have very similar dates I'm 15 + 2 and have my 16 week midwife check on Monday

Blondes I can't wait to start feeling movement but I can imagine it gets uncomfortable closer to the due date!

My bump is starting to come out and I'm finding sleeping hard work, I seem to wake up every time I roll over. So when it's time to get up I'm tired and cranky and because of the way I've been lying my legs ache.

Smurfy1981 · 10/02/2017 09:24

Hi ladies - i am still here- thats me now 40+6 - and ridiculously fed up and sore 😫
Went to see midwife yesteday and she attwmpted to give me a sweep- but i wasnt ready- cervix was still too closed xx

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 10/02/2017 09:34

Thanks Blue, and welcome Kizzle!

RoseBud2016 · 10/02/2017 10:37

Hi all! Sorry I fell off the other thread. Have been so anxious about everything.

Sammy sorry to hear that there may be a delay to you seeing your twins. They will be here before you know it though- good luck with the next few days x

Grumpel Eek! Not long now- I feel so happy and excited for you. Enjoy your last week of sitting down properly to eat your meals and watching TV uninterrupted. Grin

Kizzle welcome! I know exactly what you mean. I feel the same even though deep down I know it's irrational to some extent. Infertility has a lot to answer for!

Friends so pleased that things are still going well with you despite the rollercoaster ride you've had in the last month or so.

Blueroses Great that you've had your stitch and are feeling reassured. And a little sister for Jovian is just gorgeous- brought tears to my eyes x

Smurfy You are keeping baby too comfortable- doesn't want to come out Smile Come on baby!!!

Hi everyone else!

Had my 20 week scan this morn. Baby is measuring 4 days ahead and everything looks perfect. The sonographer also agreed to measure my cervical length and it is nice and long at 4.6cm so that is a huge relief.
This is really happening- I still can't believe it! Next milestone- 24 weeks.

Grumpelstiltskin · 10/02/2017 10:47

So pleased to hear your update rose! 20w is a massive milestone and fantastic to hear all looks so good. Did you decide to find out the sex?
I only really unclenched a bit after 24w and once I could feel more movement so fingers crossed the time passes quickly for you and you feel ok in the interim.

Smurfy fingers crossed the baby makes a move soon. Can imagine you're well over it now! Will you have another sweep shortly?

Chocolateandwineplease27 · 10/02/2017 10:53

thanks for starting a new thread blueroses and glad to see you're taking it easy/doing well post stitch

rosebud you sound the same as me - haven't really posted much as been too anxious! Good news on the 20 week scan though and that's an awesome cervix length.

lucie hope you're doing ok

Sammy good luck today if you end up going in and if not, hope they confirm when it will all be.

welcome Kizzle !! Google is not your friend right now ;)

grumple wow you are so close now! How exciting. Have you finished work and feeling prepared??

Custard I went through a similar stage at around 16 weeks - felt like I needed to teach myself how to sleep with a tummy!

Smurfy ouch - I am wincing at the thought of that! Hope things speed up quickly for you

Kiwi and Friends glad you're both getting on so well.

AFM, had a private 20 week scan a bit early (19 plus 4) but felt I needed it for reassurance. Measuring pretty much a week ahead and all looks good. Slightly concerned about the size of baby as apparently its VERY TALL. They kept saying that throughout the whole scan! We've also rather randomly hired a doula for the birth as my husband's job means he is often away a lot/works long hours and wanted some extra support. She has been SO helpful. Lots of tips on posture to make sure baby is in right position for birth and she's got me drinking fennel tea as it apparently helps milk production. It could well all be a crock of shit but its giving me something positive to think about!!

My cervix is holding steady from fortnightly monitoring - its still under 3cm but they don't seem concerned as its not moving so guess that's the main thing. I don't really find extra scans that reassuring though as they're so brief I feel like something could be easily missed!

Sorry that was an epic update - apologies if I have missed anyone from last thread.

ps if you are reading - hope the pregnant infertility graduates plus new babies are all doing well!!!!

Chocolateandwineplease27 · 10/02/2017 10:56

Just noticed I've missed blondes - how many weeks are you now?? Feeling regular movement must be lovely

kizzle · 10/02/2017 11:44

Thank you for the warm welcome ladies.
Custard it's great that we are so close with our dates. Is your due date August 1st then? Mines August 2nd.

I definitely agree that google is not my friend at all. I just keep burying my head into all these baby books & apps trying to make head nor tail out of it!!

I've got a busy February with valentines, 16w antenatal & my birthday the end of the month.
March I have my scan, then that's it really until the 24w home visit.

I'm trying to squeeze in a mini break before the baby's here - I've recently found out I've won a 3 night stay at the hotel where my DP proposed in Fuerteventura- so trying to squeeze that in sometime in May!
It's all going on isn't it....

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 10/02/2017 12:22

Blueroses, MPP and sammy - I love you! Have just got rid of my headache with cold compress and Vicks! For the first time in days I'm pain-free!!!

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 10/02/2017 12:23

Apologies for the excessive use of exclamation marks (I've always been of the view that more than one is a sure sign of a depraved mind) - I'm just so happy to feel well again! Grin

Custardandcream · 10/02/2017 12:27

Smurfy not surprised you're fed up, come on baby!

Rosebud sorry you've been so anxious, but great news about your scan

Chocolate glad your scan went well, are either you or DH tall? Glad you're cervix isn't causing concern

Kizzle the clinic gave my due date as 2nd August but at the 12 week scan I measured 4 days ahead so the NHS keep saying 29th July, I want to get the confusion sorted out with the midwife next week (I have a list of questions for the poor woman). Personally I think it should be 2nd August as I know exactly when conception occurred. Congratulations on the holiday! We're trying to sort out a break in this country which is proving hard enough to organise as we have loads of weddings this year.

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 10/02/2017 12:30

Hi kizzle, I'm 15+3, so our babies are due around the same time Smile

Stay away from Google, it just seems to make me more anxious which in turn exacerbates the nausea. My current panic is that I'm not showing at all, but lovely MN has put me at ease that this is normal for a first baby.

I've got my 20 week scan at 20+1, I'm counting down the days! Seems like ages to go.

sammy - any news? Praying for you.

Smurfy - issue a Section 8 immediately. Tenant has breached contract by overstaying, illegally extending the property, redecorating without permission (stretch marks?) and causing nighttime disturbances to the neighbours (you). Not acceptable!

kizzle · 10/02/2017 13:45

Custard let's see which date baby custard decides to arrive then! You may find you were measuring over at your 12w scan but it'll level out at your 20w - I've read that can happen. Is this your first baby?
Ah lovely, where are you hoping to go? We both decided we'd love a little break before the baby arrived but decided money wasn't our friend! Then it came about that we'd won this mini break! It's an all inclusive resort so it's only the flights we'll have to pay for, we've been twice before so we know all about transfers and taxis etc.

Hedgehog another bump buddy! Yes my 20w scan also feels ages away! But not as long as you bless you.
Are you going to find out what you're having?
Is this your first?

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 10/02/2017 14:20

kizzle it is my first, conceived after 1 x IVF (BFN), 1 x ICSI (BFP, m/c 7 weeks) and 1 x FET (BFP).

DH really wants to know what we're having, I'm not really bothered either way so I guess we'll find out unless the baby is modestly crossing its legs during the scan. I'm due on the 8th August, so you must be due on the 10th. I'm really hoping we don't get a really hot summer this year, I struggle with the heat anyway so I'm not looking forward to being massive and pregnant!

custard I asked at the fetal medicine centre about dates as I've always measured ahead by quite a bit but they said they wouldn't typically adjust for ivf babies as they usually always measure bigger and they think it's the hormones at the start which give them a boost!

Smurfy1981 · 10/02/2017 15:53

Haha hedgehog!!
grumple no no more sweeps- wint see anyone until i either go naturally or go in for my induction on 15th!
sammy been thinking of u all day today
Waves to everyone else and welcome to newbies. Xx

kizzle · 10/02/2017 17:02

Hedgehog very well deserved and long awaited for then!
Luckily my DP doesn't want to know, as if he did, I think I'd crumble & want to find out!
No sweet I'm 15+2 today & due the 2nd August. Are you sure you're due the 8th?
I'm sure my dates aren't wrong.. let me check my bible haha..
