Evening all! Sorry for the disappearing act! My appointment was a bit stressful (I'll get to that!), and then we went away as I had a lecture up in North Wales (about 3 1/2 hours from me) and we've just got back.
Sammy Huge congratulations on the birth of the twins!! How are you feeling? Thinking of you and hoping they go from strength to strength so you can get them home.
Congratulations and wlecome Kizzle. You are in good company here as we all know the feeling of extreme nervousness/googling! I'm also here after a very lucky successful first IVF, and still dont feel like its real sometimes! Fab news on winning the break! That sounds lovely and will be a nice distraction as things progress!!
Blondes I'm also getting the painful pokes now! They can be quite shocking when I'm unprepared! I'm also finding I have a numb patch on my tummy, to the left of my belly button, when my tummy goes hard, but google assures me this is just a result of the stretching, so I'm not worried about that one!
Grumpel One week to go!! I swear these last few weeks have flown by!! Hope you're feeling ok!
Custard I would also second a pregnancy pillow, preferably one of the full length ones. I love mine, to the extent that I even took it away with us this weekend. I probably looked a bit of a precious numpty lugging it into a travelodge but it was sooooo worth it!! On Christmas eve, I told DH I was going to sleep without it so we could snuggle up close just for one night, as it forms a bt of barrier between us usually, and after half an hour I was apologising and dragging it back into bed!
Ah Smurfy I bet time seems to be passing extra slowly right now. It wont be long though! Hope you're doing ok!
Rosebud Glad to hear you're well and that the 20 week scan was good! Also great news about your cervix! You'll be at that next milestone before you know it!
Chocolate Fab news about your scan and cervix also! My sister-in-law is a doula, which you'd think would be quite handy, but I dont want to feel like I'm imposing so I've never asked her anything even though she's told me multiple times to give her a yell if I want to. Interesting about the fennel tea. You'll have to let us know how it goes!
Hedgehog Haha, fantastic news on the alleviation of your headaches!! Glad to be of help!
Blueroses Congrats on moving into your new home! We stayed with my grandfather while waiting for ours, and while its obviously lovely to have people who are willing to have you, its very strange after being in your own home, isnt it! I bet you're thrilled to be in. I hope you're getting plenty of rest!
Kate Wont be long for you now either! Exciting!
Waves to anyone I've missed!!
AFM... Well, my appointment went ok, I suppose. I've been given a blood glucose monitor and metformin. I have to take two tablets a day and test my blood 4 times a day, to see how my levels are doing. Unfortunately, they havent come down at all since Thursday, despite meds and some massive dietary changes (which have led to me already losing weight - silver lining!) so I have to phone Monday to update them so they can tell me if I need to up my medication. If there's no change by the time I reach the maximum dose, then it will be insulin injections instead, which I'm really hoping to avoid. I have to see: the diabetes midwife and the diabetes nurse once a week for the time being, and the diabetes doctor and diabetes consultant as and when required, as well as my ordinary midwife. I have a scan on Thursday this coming week, and then scans every other week to keep an eye on babys growth. If we can get my levels under control, they will let me go as long as possible but wont go over 39 weeks, but if my levels keep being erratic or baby gets too big they will induce earlier, so it all just depends on how my blood looks now. They are looking after us well though, and its reassuring that they are keeping such a close eye on baby. Obviously thats the most important thing right now, but as a side issue, my levels were so high at the GTT that they suspect I was already diabetic before becoming pregnant and that the pregnancy has exacerbated this, though they seemed quite incredulous when I told them I felt perfectly fine and hadnt had any symptoms or anything. There's no way to know now anyway til afterwards, so I'l have the test again six weeks after baby arrives and go from there. Its all a bit much to take in, and all I'm concerned with right now is getting my son here safe and sound, and I'll worry about me afterwards. Trying to stay positive, but I'll keep you all posted!!
