Pregnancy after infertility or fertility treatment can be a scary place, from scanxiety to unexplained bleeding to other random symptoms.

We are a supportive group of women across all stages of pregnancy who are used to being on the wrong side of the odds and still can't believe it's really happening.

@potatoes. Bleeding doesn't always mean mc. Hope you have gone to epu - thinking of you

@why - wow congrats. That's almost my fear after I've given birth as people say fertile after ivf and suddenly preg

How old are you and how many weeks ?

Even considering contraception in the first time for 11yrs 😱 But forever grateful that bubs is healthy

Risking another preg at 45 isn't worth the risk iyswim

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/02/2017 17:36

I've also I had a scary time. Leg so swollen and sore and hard to touch so rang triage who said come straight in as I'm red flagged /high risk anyway due to age ivf and previous dvt

Scanned today and no dvt tho have all signs so have been sent home and wait what happens

Hopefully just fluid as almost 34w but then fluid shouldn't equal pain and hard calves .....

On fragim anyway due to previous dvt

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 14/02/2017 19:45

Yikes Blondes that sounds really scary. You poor thing! Are you going back tomorrow for another scan? If you have all the symptoms I'd insist on it if I were you.

Custardandcream · 14/02/2017 20:07

Potatoes thinking of you, hope you've managed to get checked out

Blondes that sound scary, hope the swelling goes down soon

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/02/2017 22:21

They say no need.......

I'm on 5k of fragmin daily. Have been since 12w but I'm still wary esp as lower leg is sore and swollen - they did say if hadn't improved in a week go back

We are seeing consultant and usual 3w scan Monday so will bring it up then

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 15/02/2017 09:23

Wow MPP - that's practically a bed!! Looks comfy though.

Welcome Why!

How is the swelling Blondes? I hope it's gone down.

Thinking of you Potatoes x

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 15/02/2017 10:15

Blondes if you've had a previous DVT and are showing all the symptoms this time I'd assume you have a clot but they couldn't find it on the scan. If you feel at all breathless or dizzy PLEASE get yourself to A&E immediately as the clot may move to your lungs and become a pulmonary embolism. I don't want to scare you unnecessarily but I am really worried for you. Flowers

Custardandcream · 15/02/2017 21:24

I went for my private cervical length scan today (decided to have one as my gran had an incompetent cervix). I'm 16 weeks today and my cervix measured 36.9mm and there was no funnelling when pressure was applied. The sonographer said that this was normal and she didn't think there would be a problem. Since I've been home I've been googling (I know) and the information seems quite confused but some sources said it should be over 40mm. So I'm confused can anyone shed any light for me? Should I book another scan or ask them to check at the 20 week scan (10th March)?

RoseBud2016 · 16/02/2017 06:46

Custard I asked for my cervix to be measured at my 20 week and they were happy to do it- it took no time at all and the sonographer could tell I was anxious about it. I think I'm your position I would wait until the 20 week scan and ask. If they refuse book in another private scan to measure it afterwards- at least then you know for certain it will be checked again.

Blondes That sounds pretty scary! You poor thing. I'm glad that it turned out ok in the end- have you had anymore pain since?

Potatoes I also lurked on mind numbing so know your story. Im so pleased to see you here- I really hope that the bleeding has stopped and you are getting some rest. X

MPP good luck with your appointment today. It must be so stressful when you are following the guidelines and your numbers aren't dropping.

Blueroses99 · 16/02/2017 08:34

Potatoes how are you getting on?

Blondes that sounds really scary, glad you are being monitored and hope you're ok.

Custard your cervical length is similar to mine, between 35 and 40mm. It's shorter than usual (>40mm) but not worryingly short (

Chocolateandwineplease27 · 16/02/2017 14:29

potatoes if you're reading, really hope you're ok xx

blondes hope the swelling has gone down now?!

custard honestly, that length of cervix sounds VERY NORMAL. I've had mine measured both at fetal medicine centre and on NHS every week/fortnight as mine is below 3cm, I've had a colposcopy and my mum had a loss at 22 weeks - I was absolutely shitting it when it measured short and asked about "normal" length several times as had seen on the internet 4cm plus being normal - the consultant at FMC said absolutely not and that would definitely be regarded as on the long side. Also, unfortunately whatever length it is, its possible for it to just go and no amount of scanning would pick it up - for example if you are hypermobile, that makes you more prone to incompetent cervix and I understand it can also be down to certain bacteria/infection - pre my NHS scan I had to have all sorts of STD checks as apparently there are certain bacteria that cause no problems in 75% of people but in 15% they can cause the cervix to suddenly go.

Anyway, I am definitely no expert on the subject and would always say to get scanned again if it gives you piece of mind but just trying to say that there is wide range of NORMAL and yours sounds well within that range.

Hope all those due soon are getting on ok!!!!???

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/02/2017 15:07

@hedgehog. Don't worry I know the signs. That happened last time and spent 2w with collapsed lung over new year

I feel fine in self. Just leg is sore swollen

@custard - 36.9is fine. Way over. They stitch generally at 22m

Wouldn't hurt for them to check at 20w but you sound totally normal to me

@potatoes hope things are ok. I'm hoping not bad news but you haven't been back. Thinking of you 💐

34w tomorrow so 5ish weeks to go as won't let me go past 40w

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 16/02/2017 15:51

Blondes a collapsed lung? Shock you poor thing!

custard great that your cervix is normal - stay away from Google, it is not your friend!

My latest panic is that I don't have even a hint of bump - from Google it appears that everyone has at least a bit of rounding by 15 weeks, but my stomach is pancake-flat still, I'm worried something's wrong and the baby's not growing Sad I've got a midwife appointment next Weds where apparently she'll listen for the baby's heartbeat, so I just have to get through till then without working myself up too much.

friends123 · 16/02/2017 19:36

Hi,
Hedgehog. I live in Derbyshire, I'm sure you will love it:) I wouldn't worry too much about bump size, my friend is 23 weeks and you wouldn't notice she was pregnant. I've been pretty big since 12 weeks so I think it just depends.

Chocolate, I'm glad your cervix is holding up. I'm glad there keeping an eye on it also.

MPP. How frustrating, especially when you're doing everything right. There's nothing you can do so don't beat yourself up about it. I'm glad there keeping an eye on you and baby.

Potatoes, like many others on here, I lurked on that thread and like so many, I've followed your story. I hope you're doing okay and that everything is alright. Life is so bloody cruel at times.

Sammy, Hope you and your girls are well.

Blueroses, I hope you're finally getting some sleep!

Custard, I'm sorry I can't really help with the cervix thing. I bet it's very worrying. Have you already had your 16 week appointment with the midwife? I wonder if not if you could not mention it then? If you have, why don't you ring your midwife or the maternity triage, explain what's happened and the results and if they are worried they will bring your scan forward.least it's a bit of reassurance! Honestly that's what they are there for, there's no point worrying for 4 weeks.

Hope you're feeling better blondes! Not long left now. ;)

friends123 · 16/02/2017 19:43

Afm, My GTT was negative. I had the biggest doughnut to celebrate! ( sorry MPP,) I've just started on iron tablets because I'm getting a bit anemic, they are giving me horrendous cramps and I feel totally rotten on them. I've got a growth scan on Wednesday so I'm a bit nervous and excited at the same time.

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/02/2017 20:07

YAh for gloucose being ok

Whyarealltheusernamestaken · 16/02/2017 22:57

Hi all, thanks for the welcome. I'm 6+3 weeks I think, I could be 3 weeks further as had a light early period in January so don't know if that was implantation or not. Have first midwife appointment next week so will see what they say

Potatoes, sorry you are going through so much, thinking of you

kiwiblue · 17/02/2017 07:56

potatoes I also remember you. Thinking of you and hoping everything is OK.

Lucie I think you asked a while ago what pillows people have. I also have the dream genii, it's pretty good- at least helps me get back to sleep most of the time when I wake up!

Sara237 · 17/02/2017 15:34

potatoes thinking of you and so sorry you're going through this.
custard any updates on the cervical length mixed messasges you had? Did you have an appt solely to have it measured? Or was it as part of a general scan? I'm 16 weeks next week, thinking I should get it looked at.
blondes how is leg? Can you believe you are 34 weeks already? Wow!
friends we all need a sweet treat from time to time! Glad you had good result there. But the iron tablets sound nasty if giving you cramps like that. Maybe go back to docs?
why more info please! Intrigued!
blue hope you're enjoying new home and looking at lovely girl stuff.
AFM finally over virus and feeling well. Not sick for past three days. Mopped kitchen floor happily today. How sad!
Here's to a relaxing weekend with 🌞🌼🍰🍫!

Custardandcream · 17/02/2017 19:09

Blueroses thanks for the info, I've booked another one for 18 weeks, hopefully I'm just being over cautious. How are you getting on with resting?

Chocolate thanks for the reasurance! The information is so varied, the woman who scaned me was not concerned so I will try to focus on that, but I think getting it checked again at 18 weeks weeks will help with my state of mind.

Blondes thanks, are you feeling any better today?

Hedgehog everyone is different, sure it will come in soon (I've decided I don't like this stage though where you don't really feel pregnant)

Friends my 16 week appointment was on Monday, I might give them a call if I start getting worked up. Glad to hear you're GTT was negative

Sara glad you're finally feeling better! I had the cervical length scan done privately the only reason I'm concerned about it is that my Gran had 2 miscarriages due to an incompetent cervix so I wanted to get it checked. The NHS don't think it would be a problem

Chocolateandwineplease27 · 17/02/2017 19:53

custard definitely worth it if it puts your mind at ease although keep in mind that it is dependent on who measures - my NHS scans are by the same woman and always similar length but my scans at fmc are 2-3 mm shorter. This pregnancy lark isn't easy is it Grin

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/02/2017 20:39

Leg is still sore and swollen but hasn't got worse so see what happens Monday as have scan and consultant

Yes 34w - excited squeak. Can't believe I'm going to be a mummy after 11yrs and 4 failed ivf

Will always be grateful the 5th a fet stuck

Custardandcream · 18/02/2017 10:55

Chocolate tell me about it, I wish I could just hibernate for the next few months!

Blondes not long to wait now, you must be so excited. Hope Monday goes ok

Blueroses99 · 18/02/2017 13:25

I have been resting and catching up on my sleep but I must confess that I find it hard to be quite so inactive. I had a worrying moment when I found some dark brown blood yesterday and the midwife said that it's not unusual after the stitch but to go in if there was any more. No more yesterday but woke up to more this morning so into A&E to get referral to EPU but it's not open as it's a Saturday! So treated by A&E doctor under guidance from an on call gynaecologist. Baby is ok and kicking away Smile, and the stitch is in place and cervix is closed, but ultrasound shows that the fibroid is growing Sad It was 1cm in my pre-IVF tests, 2cm before this cycle, 2.5cm at my 12w scan and now 3.5cm!! I have a friend through SANDS that lost her baby because of a large fibroid so we are very worried. I'm concerned that the extra progesterone I'm taking for my cervix is causing the bleeding and/or fibroids. Just going home now to rest. It's all so stressful.

Follow up booked in for Tuesday with EPU but I may try to see if my consultant can see me on Monday. He runs a clinic in the afternoon.
