Pregnancy after infertility or fertility treatment can be a scary place, from scanxiety to unexplained bleeding to other random symptoms.

We are a supportive group of women across all stages of pregnancy who are used to being on the wrong side of the odds and still can't believe it's really happening.

hobbes i'm so sorry to hear your news, how are you doing? I hope today wasnt too bad for you x

Coco24 · 29/12/2017 14:38

Hello everyone, i hope you are all well and had a lovely Christmas!

Have there been any new arrivals? I can't remember who is due next?

I'm counting down to my 20 week scan, i can't wait and really hope we can find out what we are having!

star1980 · 02/01/2018 14:32

Happy new year to you all!

Good luck with the 20w scan Coco - hope it comes around quick. They should be able to tell you the gender as, because it's an anomaly scan they're really thorough and make sure they get all the right measurements from the right angles so should def get a view of their bits! I was in the hospital for nearly two hrs with mine as I have a big fibroid on one side so they're dependent on the baby moving position to get some of the measurements - had to go juggle around and drink coffee to get her to shift over!

In terms of arrivals, I think I may be next? Am 37+3 so any day now really. Eek! Sorry not to have been on here for a while, but promise to update when it happens.

Hope everyone's doing well and coping with the tougher symptoms.

maplebaby · 02/01/2018 17:28

Happy New Year all, hope you had a good Christmas?

Coco when is your scan? Hope it comes round quickly!

Gosh star not long now! How are you getting on? Are you on maternity yet? I'm 34+5 and last day at work is when I'm 38+1. Bump is starting to feel heavy now! Have you dropped yet?

I've been signed off consultant care now and allowed to have a water birth if I go into spontaneous labour before 40 weeks. But they won't let me go overdue so also been booked in for an induction on my due date!

Coco24 · 02/01/2018 21:50

Happy New Year everyone!

Gosh star how exciting, not long to go now at all! How are you feeling? I hope you are starting to take it easy!

maple thats great news that you have been signed off, fingers crossed you will get to have your water birth! Bet your counting down till your maternity leave!

I can't believe you are both nearly there, it seems to have gone so quickly!

My scan is the 16th Jan so not too long really i'm just impatient!! I loved seeing everything on the 12 week one so cant wait for this one to see how much baby has grown! Do you have to have a full bladder at the 20 week scan like you do at the 12 week one?
Starting sorting out what will be baby's room over Christmas while i had some time off and we brought our car seat too which was exciting.

Have you both got everything ready or do you still have things to do or get? X

star1980 · 03/01/2018 00:12

Wow coco, you're so organised! I think we've got all the important things now. We got given loads of stuff secondhand and then did a big shop in the Boxing Day sales when we finally got a car seat and Moses basket. Left it quite late, but I was so busy with work it was hard to find time to think about it! Finished work when we closed for Christmas on 22nd, now on 2 weeks annual leave then mat leave starts when I'm 39 weeks. Feel so massive now, I'm really grateful I don't have to go in.

Great news at being signed off maple. So pleased all is going well and how crazy to think you'll definitely have a baby in 5 weeks! Exciting re water birth too :) Why can't you go overdue? Is your baby measuring big?

Coco, I really can't remember whether you have to have a full bladder for 20 week scan. I don't think so, but I could be wrong.

maplebaby · 03/01/2018 07:50

Ooo star what have you been up to / what will you be doing now that you are off? I'm a bit worried about being bored! Family and friends aren't that close / are working so can't do lunches etc with them. The only thing I have planned is to make some meals to freeze but apart from that not sure what to do with myself!

I asked about the induction and they told me that after 40 weeks there is a tiny bit of evidence that shows the placenta starts to fail and because I had a couple of SCHs earlier in pregnancy they don't want to risk it. I think it depends on the CCG and hospital though! My friend's who had IVF were induced 2 weeks early as that was protocol for IVF pregnancies in their area!

Baby not measuring big so far but feel like I'm carrying a hippo and I've had such a sweet tooth / craving I'm worried I've fattened him up!

Coco ahh not long to go! I had a full bladder at mine but I remember seeing some threads where others said they didn't. I think it depends on the hospital! Does your letter say anything? I've got everything now that we need - got a tonne of my nephew's clothes from my sister so been doing lots of washing! But the nursery still looks like a store room!

Coco24 · 03/01/2018 21:48

I like to be organised! I think if i had it my way we would of brought more things by now, the only thing stopping me is my DH and the fact that we are waiting to find out the sex! After that i will be a woman on a mission!
Have started thinking about maternity leave and when to take it etc... will have some holiday to use too so hoping to take holiday then go on maternity as late as possible.

maple preparing meals to freeze is a good idea save worrying about cooking once baby arrives!
Other than that just relax and put your feet up while you can!

Hospitals do seem to vary dont they, i am consultant led due to the fact that its an IVF pregnancy and in my notes it says 'complicated' whatever that means!!!
I get 3 extra growth scans though so thats nice. I dont know what the rules are on being induced etc.. at my hospital, i will find that out further down the track!

star i bet it was lovely not having to go back to work after Christmas make the most of it, not long to go!

MPP81 · 03/01/2018 22:59

Hello all! I've been meaning to check in on how my buddies are doing for a while now, and during a sleepless night last night, I finally got around to it! I'm sorry its taken me so long. I can see I missed lots of births (no idea if you are all still checking in but huge congrats Trixie, Custard, Chocolate and anyone else I have missed!)

Blueroses I just wanted to say that I check your blog for updates regularly and its so lovely to see how Aviana is growing and progressing. You (and your lovely daughter) are amazing.

Wow, Star and Maple I am so, so pleased that things are going well and you're both nearly there!!! That's amazing, and I am so happy for you both. It seems like such a long time ago now that we were all on the TTC thread together. I will certainly make a point of checking in more often in the next few weeks in anticipation of your exciting news! To those I don't know, congrats to you too and good luck with the journey ahead!!

star1980 · 10/01/2018 11:55

Hey mpp thank you for checking in!! Lovely to hear from you. Your little one must be coming up to a year old now? How crazy!

Maple, I honestly feel like this is only my 3rd day of mat leave. DH only went back to work on Thursday and my mum arrived that day for the weekend. So far I have slept A LOT and watched a lot of Netflix Blush Still have some things to do - pack the hospital bag, put up the crib and cook some meals to freeze, but I’m not doing it I’m so lazy. Also trying to read a Hypnobirthing book and listen to hypno podcasts but they’re so relaxing they send me to sleep then I’m out for hours!! I’m determined to get productive today.

Coco, you’ll be so much better than me if you’re naturally organised. I’m on a Facebook group for Jan due dates and so many had their nurseries all ready and decorated and bags packed by about 30 weeks. Was so impressed, but I also think that after the hard slog to get pregnant, it took a while before I felt ready to buy anything.

Just had my 38w midwife appointment and head is 1/5 engaged so I have a little while yet.

maplebaby · 10/01/2018 17:48

So nice to hear from you MPP! Gosh is it really that your little one is almost a year?!

Which hypnobirthing podcasts have you been listening to star?

I'm feeling anxious today! I had my midwife appointment (am 35+6) and she went to listen to heartbeat - she got it for a few seconds then lost it and couldn't find it again! I've felt him move since and he was wriggling in the waiting room but I'm surprised how much it threw me when she couldn't find it again. She said she wasn't worried... but she also really hurt me when feeling my belly and pushing the Doppler really hard!

Also I had to have my urine sent off as I had leucocytes in my wee and also been asked to do another full blood test.

Feeling sorry for myself now and worrying even though I probably don't need to!

star1980 · 11/01/2018 10:39

Hi maple, it's not actually a podcast, just some downloads from here: www.mindfulmamma.co.uk/mindful-hypnobirthing/mindful-hypnobirthing-downloads/
Was recommended on a Facebook group - only listened to the first one so far but not all the way through as it's so relaxing I'm asleep within 10 minutes!

Don't worry at all. This happened to me at my 34 week appt. What I understood was that at the time the baby was back to back so the heartbeat seemed weaker and kept dropping off. I was worrying but could also feel her moving so not super worried. Then the midwife used her hands to feel what position the baby was in, when she worked that out she could get the heartbeat easily. So my guess is that yesterday he was in a funny position and nothing at all to worry about. Also, plenty of time to get in position for birth too ( if you're worrying about that like I was!)

maplebaby · 13/01/2018 07:22

Well after my post on Wednesday, I went into labour on Thursday at exactly 36 weeks - baby was born early hours of Friday morning. Not a great birth with some complications but currently recovering In hospital and can't quite believe he is here!!

star1980 · 13/01/2018 11:45

Oh wow maple, congratulations!! Sorry to hear it wasn't straightforward, but so amazing he is here and you're recovering. Smile Please look after yourself, get some rest and update when you can.

My "plug" went last night and I started having proper contractions, but all seems quiet again this morning. Was alarmed at how scared I was when I thought everything was kicking off, calmer now though (and packing hospital bag Blush).

Coco24 · 13/01/2018 20:03

Huge congratulations maple that is amazing, u have your little boy! No need to worry about getting bored on mat leave before he arrived now!
Sorry to hear there were some complications, make sure you get plenty of rest!

star how exciting for you too, get that bag packed ready!!!

I've had a horrid sickness bug the past 24 hours, hoping i'm over the worst of it now! I have to be better for my scan tuesday!!

Blueroses99 · 15/01/2018 23:20

Congratulations Maple, hope you and the little one are doing well.

MPP lovely to hear from you and happy to hear that you’re still around.

Good luck for tomorrow Coco.

Enjoy the organising Star. Don’t worry about not having everything you need/want straightaway. It does seem to be easier shopping when you know who you’re buying for if you know what I mean. I am only just getting around to buy a cot for my DD (almost 9 months) for her nursery. I like having her next to me!

Hello everyone,

Hope you are getting on ok maple and both getting to know each other well!

How are you doing star any news yet?

blue lovely to hear from you i hope you are all doing well, 9 months already where has that time gone!

Todays scan went well, we have a little wriggler, we were in there ages trying to get all the measurements!
But everything looks fine, another milestone reached and we found out we are having a little girl! 💖

blackcherries · 16/01/2018 22:51

Congratulations Maple!
I've not been around too much on the pregnancy boards but am due soon! I feel like the last year has been such a rollercoaster I can't actually believe it's real still and am a bit anxious something will go wrong. But I think that's for another thread....

Ash75454 · 25/01/2018 07:37

Congrats maple hope all is going well. Can't believe your little one has arrived we both had our transfers very close together.

star I've stolen the link too hopefully keep me nice and calm once the time comes. 38 weeks tomorrow and last day at work. Can't wait!
My poor swelling legs couldn't take much more! Your little one still holding in there?

star1980 · 28/01/2018 07:03

Hi all

Congratulations on the scan coco! And how exciting on the gender.

Ash, blackcherrries, how are you doing? Almost there!!

As for me, I went into labour the evening of my last post and my little girl was born at 4pm on 14 Jan 😊

I'm only just updating now as sadly I've had lots of post birth complications and only left hospital this thursday at 12 days old. In short, her head got stuck at the very end so ended up having emergency Caesarian. That went well, but then had a major haemorrhage (was already at risk of this because of fibroids), lost 2.5L of blood, needed blood transfusion and then afterwards my bowel completely shut down and most of the time in hospital has been spent trying to get my bowel working again. It's been horrendous but I'm getting better and very happy to be home with DH (who has been amazing) and our lovely daughter.

star1980 · 28/01/2018 07:04

Btw ash, my ankles didn't swell in pregnancy but my whole legs are swollen now! It's horrific and really difficult to get around! Hope it all dissipates for you after the birth.

maplebaby · 28/01/2018 08:13

Hi all - thanks for the well wishes!

Congratulations Star!! And welcome to the world little lady. Only 2 days later than my boy Smile I'm sorry you had to stay in hospital for 12 days - I was going mad after 5! I lost 2.2l of blood and had to have transfusions too Sad baby also had jaundice and had to be under a light box for a day which I found traumatic as I wasn't allowed to take him out for very long and he was screaming with a little eye mask on. Hope you are now recovering and baby is doing ok!

Coco so pleased your scan went well and hope you are fully recovered from the bug!

Ash my feet started to get a little swollen but nothing like how they were after birth! Like star said my legs blew up and my feet finally look normal after 2 weeks! Hope your last day of work was ok!

Will continue to lurk for birth announcements... good luck everyone!

Ash75454 · 28/01/2018 15:14

Congrats on arrival star sounds like you've had a real tough time to start. Glad you're finally home. Enjoy settling into motherhood now.

maple sounds like a hectic start too. Hope all going well.

Can't believe your little ones have arrived!

Not loving hearing that you've both suffered swollen legs after. I swear if mine swell any more I'm worried they might pop!

JustTrixie · 29/01/2018 14:57

Congratulations on the birth of your little boy Maple! And congratulations on the birth of your little girl Star! Sorry to hear that you had such a long hospital stay.
Waves to MPP!
DD is nearly 6 months old and I still can't quite believe it all worked out ok.

blackcherries · 04/02/2018 17:17

Hi all, my wonderful baby boy was born last week. Am so over the moon that he's here and can finally believe it!! Born by elcs which was very calm and my recovery has been way better than my previous natural birth. Enjoying newborn squishes because I know how fleeting this time is..
