Pregnancy after infertility or fertility treatment can be a scary place, from scanxiety to unexplained bleeding to other random symptoms.

We are a supportive group of women across all stages of pregnancy who are used to being on the wrong side of the odds and still can't believe it's really happening.

Oh blue what a stressful day. Glad you got checked today and bubs is safe and sound. I suppose the stitch is going to lead to some blood and sounds like you're being monitored closely. How long are you to take the progesterone? Why can't life just be easy and calm. Just for once? Hope you and dh can stay relatively calm till Tue. X

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/02/2017 20:44

@blue. Sounds stressful :( how long have you got to take progesterone

My fibroid did grow slightly but not enough to worry but high up in lining

Once stopped ivf medication at 14w the. Didn't grow anymore

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 19/02/2017 10:58

Oh blueroses you poor thing! I'm so glad the baby's ok. Who are you under for fibroids management? Guys & St Thomas in London has a brilliant fibroids specialist, Yacoub Khalaf, if you want a second opinion.

Blueroses99 · 19/02/2017 11:11

Thanks Sara, Blondes, I'm supposed to be on progesterone to strengthen the cervix until the end - it's used in some situations as an alternative to the stitch so it was a kind of belt and braces approach. My consultant doesn't prescribe it but also doesn't take people off it if they are already taking it. Hedgehog thanks for the tip. The fibroid was noted but not being managed separately. I'll keep my feet up until I see the gynaecologist on Tuesday and then see what they say.

I'm so scared though Sad

Blueroses sorry to hear you're having a stressful time, hope the appointment on Tuesday goes well

MPP81 · 20/02/2017 10:56

Hello all!

It was hard to find you today!

Lucie re: the pillow, yes I was suprised my DH allowed it into bed with us, but since he was the one who bought it, I suppose he didnt have much choice Grin I have a smaller one too that one of my friends gave me for breastfeeding afterwards, but obviously no idea what thats like yet. Hope you're ok!

Potatoes I am so sorry you are going through this. You are in my thoughts xx

Liberte Thank you for telling me about your aunt. It really does help to hear about others in the same boat.

Grumpel How are you? Everything good?

Blondes How scary about your DVT! How are you now? Has the swelling gone down? Is it today your next scan is? If so, I hope its gone well!

Chocolate hope you're doing ok!

Welcome Why and congratulations! What a fantastic suprise for you, after you had given up. You must be thrilled! We all know about the frantic googling. Hang in there! :-)

Blueroses I am so sorry that you are having to deal with yet more stress. Its good news that baby is well and active, but I cant imagine how you must be feeling. I am thinking of you and hope you're appointment goes well tomorrow. xxx

Hedgehog I am no expert on bump sizes, and mine seemed to grow the minute I hit about 12 weeks but in my aquanatal group there are women who are quite a bit further than 15 weeks and also dont seem to have a hint of a bump so I think its just one of those things where everyone is different! I'm sure your midwife will set your mind at rest on Wednesday.

Custard I hope everyone has put your mind slightly at ease about cervix length, though for your own piece of mind, I would ask/get it checked again when you can. Hope you're ok.

Friends So glad to hear your gtt went well (and jealous about the doughnut!! Envy) Sorry to hear about the iron tablets though. I vaguely remember being on them with my DD and not only did they give me cramps but (tmi) they turned my... ahem.. stools a strange black colour. Exciting times!!

Sara Glad to hear you're over the virus!

Hope everyone else is ok!

AFM, my appointment Thursday went well, but as expected they put me on insulin. Its not too bad though. Its pretty much the same as the gonal f pen I had, and it has such a fine needle that it actually hurts less! Since being on it, my lunch and evening blood glucose levels have dropped into normal ranges, but my fasting and after breakfast levels are still a bit too high. I have to phone up with my weekend numbers tomorrow and I suspect they will up the dose of insulin to try and bring the morning results down a bit more. I had a growth scan Thursday too, and was told everything looks fine. It was nice to see baby again. I've been told they will probably get things going at about 38 weeks now, which is less than 7 weeks away! It suddenly seems very close! This week I just have my normal 31 week midwife appointment and then next week I'm back at the diabetes clinic. I always seem to be there a few hours at a time, as there's quite a few doctors/nurses/midwives to see each time!

Anyway, thats about it from me. Hope everyone has a good week this week!!

Blueroses99 · 20/02/2017 18:23

I have been reassured by the consultant, he is not worried about the brown blood or fibroids. He says brown blood after stitch is not unexpected but to come straight in if there is more fresh red blood, fluid or pain. He says the fibroid is still small and very rarely can interfere in pregnancy. They will measure again at 20w and he says I should still go to the EPU appointment tomorrow that A&E made for me so I can see baby and measure cervix. He has also confirmed that the progesterone is not impacting the fibroid but says I should reduce my dose to 1x400mg, the usual cervix strengthening dose, rather than 2x400mg, the IVF dose. Such a relief!

MPP good to hear you're getting on with the insulin. All sounds like you're being well looked after.

Smurfy I think you were due to be induced last week? Hope you and baby smurfy are well.

How is everyone else getting on?

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 20/02/2017 18:52

@mmp glad insulin is making a diff

@blue. Glad consultant is reassuinf. I dropped from 800 to 400 to 200 over a 2weeks as been on it for so long /most of last year due to failed fresh , failed fet and 2era

Yes had 34w scan today. All good. Also had another ultrascan in leg and still of sign of dvt so they are saying it's fluid - but surely wouldn't ache the ? Just he fat and swollen

Sara237 · 20/02/2017 20:16

blue really pleased to hear that. Give her a wave from us lot tomorrow! X

Custardandcream · 21/02/2017 13:59

MPP glad to hear that the insulin injections are not too bad and that they are making a difference

Blueroses great news that must be a relief, hope the appointment today goes ok

Blondes glad the scan went ok, sorry to hear your leg is still bad

Grumpelstiltskin · 21/02/2017 15:06

Hi all, still here and four days overdue now. Baby Grump seemingly has no interest in shifting! Not going mental quite yet but give me till the end of the week...

Blueroses so sorry to hear you've had some more worry, it's so hard when, as you say, you've been on the wrong side of statistics before and then suddenly there are more things to concern you. But pleased to hear you've been reassured by your consultant and hope that you've had a good appointment today too. Keep us posted.

MPP great to hear the insulin jabs aren't too bad and are working.
And congrats on passing the GTT friends!

Hope your leg's feeling ok blondes. Must be a bit scary but good they're keeping an eye on you.

Smurfy Hope you're having lots of baby cuddles by now!

Waves madly to everyone else. Keep on trucking! X

RoseBud2016 · 21/02/2017 18:06

Come on baby Grumps, time to vacate the premises! Glad your holding out Grumpel- and the best of luck for the coming days. It's been a long journey but you are almost there! Smile

MPP so pleased that the insulin jabs are starting to do their job- must be relief to know that it's getting under control. How are you feeling in yourself?

Blue woah! You are dealing with so much- I hope the consultant has helped to make you feel a little more at ease. You really do deserve a break!

Hi everyone else!

AFM- 21+4 and still haven't felt any movement at all yet. Is this normal? My placenta is definitely posterior. Confused

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/02/2017 18:43

@grump. Will they induce you? They won't let me go past 40w/dd

Grumpelstiltskin · 21/02/2017 19:10

So famous last words! Strong cramping and bloody show over the last two hours so hoping this is lift-off.

Blondes I would have had (will have??Confused) a sweep on Friday if nothing progresses, then induction at 40+12. No special ivf treatment here!

Rose I definitely only felt the first strong, definite movements around 20/21w. Before it was really just guesswork whether baby or digestion! Try not to worry, they say you shouldn't feel regular movement before 24w anyway. Glad to hear you're otherwise doing ok.

RoseBud2016 · 21/02/2017 19:44

Eek! Grumpel I hope this is it for you. The best of luck to you and Mr Grumps.

Thanks for the reassurance- Sometimes I feel something but I can't be sure that's it's anything other than wind Blush There's always something to worry about!

Blueroses99 · 21/02/2017 19:49

Blondes great to hear there are no signs of DVT but the swelling sounds painful. Can you stay off your feet and does that help?

Grumps woo hoo - how exciting! All the best x

Rose don't worry about feeling movement yet, some people do but there are lots of factors, you should feel them by 24w.

AFM I had a really good appointment at the EPU. The sonographer measured everything properly, baby is bang on for 16w, cervix is closed and fibroid is much smaller than they indicated on Saturday and not anywhere it can get in the way. The doctor did a visual scan (and I though dildocam was invasive Blush), and said everything looked fine with the stitch and the cervix. They are testing a swab but in the meantime I've got prophylactic antibiotics in case of infection. Feeling very well looked after and much much calmer today xx

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 21/02/2017 20:33

@blue. Fab news so hopefully reassured you. I'm used to dildo cams due to countless ivf but probs strange if havnt had them before

@grump 40+12??? Really 😱 as I'm
Geratric 😛 they won't allow me 40/40

I'm kinda ready for bubs to come now 5w early tho don't really want that but getting to that stage now that kinda want out

tired waddling swollen ankles and calves (and yes feet up a lot of the time) but makes no difference

Blueroses99 · 21/02/2017 20:41

Blondes very used to dildocams, it was the peering into the fanjo that was a new experience!

OP posts:
blue2014 · 21/02/2017 21:21

Rose - I think I was about 26 weeks before I felt movement

Grumpel - good luck Smile

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/02/2017 21:23

I havnt seen mine for ages. Know many will be peering up there when give birth 😂

Blueroses99 · 21/02/2017 23:09

Well yes that true!

OP posts:
GenghisKahnSchmitz · 22/02/2017 08:03

Ha Blue, I had similar today - he had a look, took some swabs and then had a feel of my cervix - it came as quite a surprise at 7.30 in the morning! Especially when I was only expecting the normal ultra sound :) Sorry to read about the stress you've been through but I'm glad your consultant and the sonographer have been so reassuring.

Good luck Grumple!

Glad the insulin has made such an improvement MPP, and good luck at your appointment this week.

Happy to read that there's no sign of dvt Blondes and hopefully the swelling goes down soon.

Rose I didn't feel consistent movement until later - I think at 21 weeks I was only feeling the odd obvious movement. I was also a bit stressed but read that before 24 weeks you probably wouldn't feel regular movement so that made me feel better!

No news from me though my morning sickness really kicked it up a gear the last week, which really isn't good timing with packing up our house. The joys of moving!

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 22/02/2017 09:03

peering into the fanjo The horror! Shock I suppose it's good practise for the birth, but still...

Glad all's well blueroses Smile

blondes such a relief there's no DVT but it sounds mighty uncomfortable, does massage help? Or elevating your calf?

MPP good that the insulin's working, how long left till due date?

I heard the heartbeat yesterday on the doppler, it was great! Consultant has told me he's not sure I can keep taking my antidepressants if I want to breastfeed Sad but he's double checking. Anyone else on venlafaxine? There only seem to be tiny studies available on safety of BF whilst on it, and whilst none have shown any problems it's definite that the drug gets into the milk and is metabolised by the baby. The drug has a fairly short half-life, so the baby would be born addicted to it and would suffer if I suddenly cut off its supply... I'll look at switching to another drug, but venlafaxine's the only one I've tried that works (been stable on it for ten years) so I'm scared to come off it.

Any advice gratefully received!

Wizziwoo · 22/02/2017 12:00

Just a note to say that a perfect Wizzi Junior arrived safely (albeit a little early) and currently enjoying lots of baby cuddles.
I can now say that every needle, puke, scary bleed, the dreaded OHSS, midnight trips to triage were truly worth it to get this little man into the world.

Wishing you all healthy pregnancies and safe arrivals of your own precious bundles xxx

Blueroses99 · 22/02/2017 14:12

Congratulations Wizzi. Enjoy the baby cuddles.

Hedgehog that's a difficult one. I came off ADs a while ago because I was on a very new one that wasn't proven during pregnancy and would've had to switch to another one, and thought I'd see how I got on without rather than deal with withdrawal from one and getting used to a new one at the same time. Is the issue that it's being transmitted to the baby in utero or just breastmilk? I think you need to do whatever is right for you and take as much specialist advice as you need. If you're not feeling supported, that won't be good for you or baby.

Genghis good luck with the move. Hope the sickness doesn't get in the way too much.
