Week 3 - Jan 22 Low Carb Bootcamp - Bootcamp Light or not?

BIWI · 30/01/2022 22:46

So now you have several choices:

  • move on to Bootcamp Light for the next 6 weeks, which means allowing nuts/seeds, fruit and alcohol all in moderation!
  • a hybrid, where you do Bootcamp during the week, but relax and follow Bootcamp Light at the weekend
  • stay on Bootcamp, if it's suiting you

Bear in mind that weeks 3 and 4 (and sometimes 5) are infamous for seeing little or no weight loss - indeed sometimes you may see a gain.

Whatever you decide, here's the spreadsheet for you to declare all!

I hope very much that you will see good results from the last two weeks (or the last 3 or 4 weeks, depending on when you started!)

And now this week's challenge!

Like me I'm betting you all have several cookbooks that you rarely use. Go and find one that you haven't used for ages and choose a recipe that is or could be low carb and post it here.

You may have to change some of the ingredients, but that's fine! Let's all look for something that inspires us to cook something new/different.

Here's to a successful week 3 Flowers

Just marking my place for tomorrow. Pretty sure I will have STS or even be a pound or two Blush up, but for me it was Week 3 plus I had a boozy Burns Supper (even if my food with the exceptional of the haggis was Boot Camp compatible Wink).

Benvolio · 30/01/2022 23:13

I really like this challenge, BIWI, thank you.

ouchmyfeet · 30/01/2022 23:43

Thanks for the new thread BIWI. I'm going to go hybrid and try to stick to proper bootcamp during the week, and allow a bit of alcohol at the weekend

FrenchBoule · 31/01/2022 00:11

Thanks @BIWI for new fred 🙂

I fell of the wagon slightly as Shit Fairy has been busy last couple of weeks.
I gobbled some wine.Mea culpa.

Will catch up properly this week.

Keep losing everybody 🙂

BaconOmelette · 31/01/2022 00:25

Place-marking for the morning. Good luck everyone 😄

I0NA · 31/01/2022 02:04

I’m moving onto bootcamp lite, as I eat a lot of salads and really miss some nuts or seeds for crunch and some fruit for sweetness.

Onelittlepiglet · 31/01/2022 04:50

Morning all, sorry for not posting much over the last week it’s been pretty busy. Happy to say I’ve had a 0.7kg loss! Only a tiny bit but I will take it as it was week 4 and I didn’t lose anything last week. Still not been able to get out for exercise so hoping this week will be better.

I made a new recipe yesterday - it’s only for an veg accompaniment but it was lovely. I made the family chicken stuffed with cheese wrapped in Parma ham. I did them hasselback potatoes so made myself hasselback celeriac! Stuffed it with cheese the same as theirs and lots of olive oil, salt and pepper etc. It was delicious! Here is a basic recipe I found - I added cheese as well. cookpad.com/uk/recipes/14553291-hasselback-celeriac

We also had a pile of broccoli to go with it.

Hope everyone has a good week and for those that haven’t had a great week, this week is better. I’ll try and keep up with the thread more. Smile

Thank you for all of your support and advice BIWI. Another week ahead so will KoKo.

Good look everyone.

Runninghorse · 31/01/2022 06:27

Place marking. I am going to do another at least another week of boot camp

queenofcauliflower · 31/01/2022 06:32

Morning everybody, hope you're all well. I am amazed to report a 2.7kg (nearly 6lb) loss this week, which totals 5.4kg (nearly 12lb) in 2w. I do have a huge amount to lose though so that's probably why (+ water loss etc). I have a challenging week BC wise this week as I have a 3 day hotel trip to navigate.

Meals yesterday:-
IF until 1pm

  • Egg 'wrap' with streaky bacon (cooked in butter) & spinach - it didn't really work as a wrap so I just ate it as an open sandwich
  • Roast chicken with leaves and mayo and olive oil
UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 31/01/2022 06:37

Thanks @BIWI for the new thread.

A net 2lb off for me this week, not sure how as I went up on Thursday but I'm not complaining!

I think weekday boot camp and weekend boot camp light sounds good for me but I coincidentally have two nights out planned - Wednesday and Thursday so I might just shift my weekend this week.

Off to work today where the boss has promised plenty of cake AngrySad but I will desist and protect my precious 2lb win.

TheCurrywurstPrion · 31/01/2022 06:37

I haven’t lost anything this week, so I’ll boot camp during the week, then see how I feel at the weekend.

Love this week’s challenge. I have loads of cookbooks as I love cooking. Maybe I’ll see what I can do about converting some favorite recipes as I’ve been a bit lax this last week about creating proper meals and have been too reliant on ready-made meat products and so on.

Thanks BIWI for the idea!

SweetPotatoDumpling · 31/01/2022 06:51

I can vouch for @BIWI 's 'maybe' forecast for Week 3 and 4...I actually stayed on Bootcamp, apart from one night (Burns Night) and I lost 1lb in Week 3 and 1lb in Week 4.

My take on this, though, is that it's still 2lb off right? And 12lb overall in 4 weeks 🤷‍♀️

That is a pretty impressive loss in 4 weeks I think, so I'll KOKO and know that I'm doing ok. Even at a 1lb a week, by Easter that will be 24lb and a 'comfortable' dress size down at least!

Big Shop for me tonight...I'm going for FLGV to make a big pot of lovely soup...this chilly windy weather is definitely soup weather 🤣

Have a great week everyone 🙌🏼

pinknsparkly · 31/01/2022 06:55

0.7lb down this week. Not huge, but better than a gain! I also didnt do well on the hydration front over the weekend. This seems to be a standard thing for me. I work really hard at drinking plenty during the week and then just forget at the weekend... This week is going to be utter chaos for me and extremely busy so I won't be joining in the challenge but I'm interested in seeing what ideas you all come up with! Thanks for the many many posters who made suchgreat food suggestions for our holiday, you're all wonderful!

byebyecarbs · 31/01/2022 06:56

Had a weekend of socialising and eating out and eating at a friend's house so there's been a bit of slippage. Back on bootcamp proper today!

SummerSazz · 31/01/2022 07:15

2lb off for me. SO close to getting under the next stone barrier - the scales were flickering but ended up settling a teensy bit above. Hopefully next week although I have a 50th afternoon tea to navigate next weekend.....

So 6lb, sts and then 2lbs (almost 3!!) so average around 3lb per week which is great. A slight NSV as it is on the scales but bmi is down from 29.4 to 28 (I know it's a bit of a rubbish measure but I do feel so much better at nearer 25 than nearer 30!) And body fat % down 1% so not all water loss!

I feel really relaxed this time, if that's the right word? Not stressing about what to cook/eat but going with the flow and it hasn't been difficult at all which bodes well for continuing going forward. I have milestones for events in early March, May, June, July and August so am trying to see it as stepping stones to each one Smile

Have a good week all!

BestIsWest · 31/01/2022 07:25

No weighing but looks like 1/2 an inch off both waist and hips and legs.

MercedesBenz · 31/01/2022 07:26

Not yet weighed but marking for later

Jollyholibobs · 31/01/2022 07:29

0.2lbs down this week which is ok as I had a tasting menu meal out on Friday. Which was quite carby. Apart from that I am well aware that I need to rein in the dairy.

B IF black coffee
L watercress omelette
D fish curry with cauliflower rice

mirpuppet · 31/01/2022 07:29

3.4 pounds off this week (Week 4 for me). Total lost 10 pounds so I'm very happy.

mirpuppet · 31/01/2022 07:34

Made this over the weekend. Quite delicious. I added a bit more spice. www.fatsoflife.co.uk/fish-duglere-keto/

DollyDingleberry · 31/01/2022 07:37

Morning all, 2lbs off for me which means 7lbs in 2 weeks which is awesome.

Sorry I fell off the thread, had a member of staff quit on me last week and it’s been a bit of a scramble. Ive been absolutely fine food wise and as such I’m staying on boot camp proper but with the notable exception of introducing 16:8 because this suits me better.

I may introduce the odd bit of berries later down the line but for now I’m not finding the current rules that restrictive.

H1Drangea · 31/01/2022 07:52

Reporting a 2lb loss , which I’m thrilled with
I started on 1st Jan , and have lost 7lb in total ( been Bootcamp light from the start as I know I get terrible carb flu and have given up a couple of times as I felt so ill )

We went away for the weekend , and there were a few indiscretions to the plan , but we walked ( and walked ) a lot , and drank lots of water

Need to do a big shop today , so will be studying the spreadsheet for ideas and off to Tesco with a big list

Livelongandprosper · 31/01/2022 07:52

Morning all, 2lbs off this week for me which is the same as last week. Very happy with that. I'm going to do bootcamp light at weekends this week. Well done everybody!

Fleecy · 31/01/2022 07:56

No loss for me this week, which is a shame, but it was my third week. My tummy is noticeably less bloated and trousers that didn't fit are starting to do so. I'll take it!

I'm going to introduce a few nuts, as I miss them, but no berries as yet. I don't miss fruit at all until the weather is better.

Hope everyone has a good week. Will have a look for a recipe - looking forward to seeing everyone else's too. Excellent inspiration!
