Week 3 - Jan 22 Low Carb Bootcamp - Bootcamp Light or not?

BIWI · 30/01/2022 22:46

So now you have several choices:

 • move on to Bootcamp Light for the next 6 weeks, which means allowing nuts/seeds, fruit and alcohol all in moderation!
 • a hybrid, where you do Bootcamp during the week, but relax and follow Bootcamp Light at the weekend
 • stay on Bootcamp, if it's suiting you

Bear in mind that weeks 3 and 4 (and sometimes 5) are infamous for seeing little or no weight loss - indeed sometimes you may see a gain.

Whatever you decide, here's the spreadsheet for you to declare all!

I hope very much that you will see good results from the last two weeks (or the last 3 or 4 weeks, depending on when you started!)

And now this week's challenge!

Like me I'm betting you all have several cookbooks that you rarely use. Go and find one that you haven't used for ages and choose a recipe that is or could be low carb and post it here.

You may have to change some of the ingredients, but that's fine! Let's all look for something that inspires us to cook something new/different.

Here's to a successful week 3 Flowers

1/5 pound down in week 4 for me. But I know the drill! Wine on Friday though. DH didn't make the LC or Dry January. But he's running the miles I should be so there's that.

Beef anchovy stew is my recipe. Salty goodness. And I've texted it to DH so we're having it. Probably on cabbage.

2lb less here although it is fluctuating over the week. Managed to consume a nearly full bottle of wine over the weekend (and it was lovely) but continued with plenty of non alcoholic fluids too.

So happy to have reintroduced some berries, had a spoonful with greek yoghurt and a sprinkle of seeds for late breakfast.
Very spicy gingery celery and parsnip soup for lunch.
Dinner will be roast pork chop with lots of green veg and some swede mash.

I spent the week off the wagon whilst staying at my in laws, though it wasn't particularly debauched just 'normal' but I think has knocked me back. I think having some carbs made me feel quite rubbish and now trying to get off them has made me feel rubbish again. I had a PT session and ended up stopping half way through because of feeling dizzy so I'm going to knuckle down: WATER WATER WATER! and fat.

I didn't weigh myself today as I wasn't at home but I'll do it tomorrow. Curious to see how a few days off affects things.

B- toast and butter, tea with milk x 2
L- back in the saddle! Eggs with chorizo, shallots, pepper, courgette, tomatoes, herb greek yoghurt and black olives
D- heck sausage and cabbage

Jezzballs2000 · 31/01/2022 15:23

weekend not week!

BSky · 31/01/2022 16:35

@Prettybird - plenty of NSVs there with all the exercise. I did Jillian Michaels 30 days shred a while ago. Ripped sounds even more hardcore.

Need to check out this montezuma chocolate especially with peanut butter & clotted cream. They sound heavenly! In much liter days I make a dark choc with coconut milk & dessicated coconut choc bar. Can add other nuts & recipe suggests sweeten with maple syrup. It’s nice for special occasions & lovely with pistachios or roasted hazelnuts. Not for this week though!

@YesIcan3 - don’t be too hard on yourself there are worse things you could have snacked on. Cheese is my go to & slices of salami. I’m going to cut some celery, cucumber, pepper & make a dip later so I can go to this for something crunchy when I’m peckish/aimless. A spoonful of peanut butter is good for me normally but going to try & avoid nuts for another week.

Icaru · 31/01/2022 17:23

5lbs for me! Wasnt hungry for most of it though and had small portions or just cheese for dinner etc.

Only a few more pounds and my BMI is back in the normal range and not overweight.

missfliss · 31/01/2022 17:37

Ugh -covid kicking my butt today.
Not a huge appetite
Have had

Coffee and almond milk
Small amount leftover roast chicken and mayonnaise with hardboiled eggs (2) and an avocado
Cheeseburger pie with tomato salad
Greek yoghurt with 1 tbsp ground flax and 5 walnut halves

I'm so tired and achey from covid though

ilovecherries · 31/01/2022 17:42

Well done everyone. I've lost another pound, bringing the grand total to 2. Ah well, onwards and downwards. My tummy still isn't completely happy either.

Just had mid afternoon bubbly (shared amongst three of us) to celebrate dh and his siblings finally getting rid of the executor of their mother's simple estate. She died over 26 months ago Shock

Dh and his brother have now taken over the executry. They'd asked in September and although initially he'd agreed, he then backtracked because at that time they were going to transfer it to the lawyer to whom the guy had sold his law practice (who for some reason he seems to hate Confused) but when they asked again earlier this month, to resign in favour of dh and his brother (which his eldest sister who was also part of the problem was happy with), he agreed.

The problem was also that the now former executor is no longer a registered lawyer, so the siblings had no, zero, nada, recourse against him.

So it was worthy of celebration Smile

Now hopefully they can apply for confirmation (the Scottish equivalent of probate) - the papers have been ready since last May Shock

ShangPie · 31/01/2022 18:03

Reporting back from Sainsbury’s where Montezuma bars of 100% Cocoa Absolute Black are on offer (£1.85 instead of £2.59 + VAT + shipping on the Montezuma website Hmm)

No peanut butter eggs tho, so might brave the shipping costs or perhaps create my own peanut butter choc with a small spoonful on the top of a square swooooon

CrystalTits · 31/01/2022 18:49

@ShangPie thanks for the Sainsbury's tip off! I had my eye on this treat from the dessert thread before throwing myself chancing upon the Montezuma's peanut butter mini eggs:

Melt 1 tablespoon coconut oil in microwave. Add one large square of 80% choc and stir until melted. Add one teaspoon of butter and one tablespoon of peanut butter. Stir. Pour into doubled tinfoil that you have fashioned into a little tray shape. Put in freezer for 10 minutes. Voila! Low carb peanut chocolate bar! (from @Minifingers in 2018)

CrystalTits · 31/01/2022 18:50

(I'm still expecting to duck The Big Stick having instigated all this chocolate talk, though...)

WitchWand · 31/01/2022 18:52

Well done to everyone who's got rid of more weight last week. I'm down 1lb. I'm ok about that. It makes 3lbs in all since I started 2 weeks ago. I'm going to do a little bit of IF this week and see if that makes a difference to the dreaded 3rd week...

Just to say I'm with @Baystard on the ski pants situation @NigellaAwesome. How's it going ?

Extra special Flowers to all those who aren't pleased with their results. Remember, last week's been and gone. Just KOKO this week. All the best to you.

And, to @Wilkolampshade - sorry to hear about your trying weekend. But very well done on not compensating by turning to food ! Flowers for you too.

prettybird · 31/01/2022 18:54

@CrystalTits - you need to post that in the "Desserts and other sweet things" thread and away from here Wink

WitchWand · 31/01/2022 18:57

@YesIcan3

Grrr! I'm mad at myself, something has upset me today and head is elsewhere not eaten and went to fridge ate loads of cheese far too much and pepperami stick x2. Ffs feel like iv undone all work. ... Well done to everyone else!
Hop right back on YesIcan3. The clue is in your name . Wink
Wilkolampshade · 31/01/2022 19:01

Ah thanks @WitchWand, 🙏 I honestly welled up with relief when I plugged our postcode into the sat-nav to get home. Weirdly, I find the emotional roller coaster of menopause has given me more strength and clarity to cope with situations like this. It's almost like I'm putting other peoples nonsense in a box to the side and not letting it get to me half as much. Odd but pleasing.

BestIsWest · 31/01/2022 19:07

I tried the Shred a few years ago. My god, My knees! I’m in awe of anyone who can get past level 1.
I have been doing a 40 minute brisk walk at lunchtime which I love and have started doing yoga with Adrienne. Said dodgy knees don’t help though (they just don’t bend beyond 90 degrees) but I’ve done enough yoga in the past to be able to find alternatives.

Lovely tea tonight. Nigellas chicken with 40 cloves of garlic and shoogled Savoy cabbage.

prettybird · 31/01/2022 20:04

I alternate between the Shred and Ripped: when I've done 4 days at each level on one, I start the other one. I do it barefoot but maybe because I did years of ballet (up until I went to Uni, so admittedly a looooong time ago Blush), I know how to land "through" my feet which takes the pressure off my knees. It's my upper body strength that's crap Hmm - although I can now do things like the forearm walking plank (when I first started I had to move straight onto my knees before I could straighten my forearms Confused) I also follow Pilates principles for the ab exercises rather than exactly what she says.

SpottyBumPony · 31/01/2022 20:06

1.4lb off this week, 6.4 in total.
B Scrambled eggs
Hobbit L 1 Leftover roast pork
Hobbit L 2 Celery with primula, bit of parma ham, 1/2 bag of cheesies
D Fajita chicken, peppers, onion, avocado in lettuce wraps. Yoghurt

I'm not sure what sort of woman I'm turning in to to eat half a not sharing bag of crisps, cheesies in this case, and leave the rest Shock

SpottyBumPony · 31/01/2022 20:07

My strikethough turned in to an underline. Doh

CrystalTits · 31/01/2022 20:08
@CrystalTits - you need to post that in the "Desserts and other sweet things" thread and away from here Wink
@prettybird That's where I got it from! Apologies for introducing more temptation here though Grin

Newlease · 31/01/2022 20:17

Well done you all losers and stayers :) on my third week and lost 0.9lbs according to spreadsheet. Converting from kg makes it all weird. Midweek somewhere scale showed me 65.7 but its 66.1kg.. this is where I usually get fed up. But luckily I have discovered mfp entries from my first keto in 2018. Its gone this exact snail pace with 500gms here and there and then coming back to where it was on third week and loosing a lot after 5-6weeks..
After that I have tried to do LC twice but not done more than 4 weeks, as was very disappointed after 3/4 weeks I guess.. I didn’t know I had this entries on mfp until day before. So double reassurance, along with doing it together!
I did a massive duck curry with my grandma’s recipe, and it was very yummy! On the other hand, had cooked atleast 8 boxes of yummy carb food to send for family who is dealing with covid.. That was very hard looking at all yummy stuff, but didn’t even lick the spoon 💪💪

Newlease · 31/01/2022 20:20

Oh.. and forgot to mention this, I will stay on strict bootcamp for some more days, but will add nuts in if it gets harder after two more weeks!!
Saying that Costco has an aisle full of keto snacks, everything says 2gm carb per portion. Fat bomb and nut crackers and all that.. i decided not to buy anything for now, instead bought an almond meal packet, will make a cinnamon roll after two weeks 😋

YesIcan3 · 31/01/2022 21:03

Thank you @WitchWand and @BSky I think it's just the way I did it out of habit maybe comfort/mindless eating if that makes sense.
I'm in bed now with my water planning on making a spinach omelette and not let anything get in the way Angry x

YesIcan3 · 31/01/2022 21:04

The omelette for breakfast I mean. I'm tired and head hurts planning a calmer day 2mo!
