Week 3 - Jan 22 Low Carb Bootcamp - Bootcamp Light or not?

BIWI · 30/01/2022 22:46

So now you have several choices:

  • move on to Bootcamp Light for the next 6 weeks, which means allowing nuts/seeds, fruit and alcohol all in moderation!
  • a hybrid, where you do Bootcamp during the week, but relax and follow Bootcamp Light at the weekend
  • stay on Bootcamp, if it's suiting you

Bear in mind that weeks 3 and 4 (and sometimes 5) are infamous for seeing little or no weight loss - indeed sometimes you may see a gain.

Whatever you decide, here's the spreadsheet for you to declare all!

I hope very much that you will see good results from the last two weeks (or the last 3 or 4 weeks, depending on when you started!)

And now this week's challenge!

Like me I'm betting you all have several cookbooks that you rarely use. Go and find one that you haven't used for ages and choose a recipe that is or could be low carb and post it here.

You may have to change some of the ingredients, but that's fine! Let's all look for something that inspires us to cook something new/different.

Here's to a successful week 3 Flowers

@MrsTerryPratchett ah, thank you. She does get herself in a real pickle sometimes. There have been awful times in the past, and likely more to come, but at the mo I'm just very, very grateful that generally, she lets me know what's happening before things get too dark. She's my absolute hero.

On the LC front got stuck without prep away from home and had to resort to couple of KFC Mini fillets minus most of the breading. Staff were very confounded I didn't want my chips. Home now and searching for sprouts before the Great Pottery Throw down...

B Cooked breakfast
L Boiled egg on one slice of buttered low carb toast, celery and cucumber
D Chicken sausages, shoogled cabbage, cheesey leeks
P Strawberries and clotted cream - I've looked forward to it since Tuesday and it was delicious

prettybird · 06/02/2022 20:43

You've just reminded me: I still have some raspberries from last night and some clotted cream that needs eating Grin

FinallyHere · 06/02/2022 20:52

Well done for the 'adulting' @prettybird

Do you have a good place to store all that kind of information? I use https://www.lastpass.com. Started using it at work for passwords, now I have a personal account with all my personal passwords and secure notes of my 'stuff'

I can login (two factor authentication from anywhere, so being away is no bar to getting the info. I've set up a note for both me and DH. Feels very satisfying and, as you say, adult.

FinallyHere · 06/02/2022 20:58

B IF
L celeriac 'chips' in air fryer with Mayo/creme fraiche and smoked paprika dip
D the famous BC chicken thighs coated in egg wash and dried Parmesan again cooked in the air fryer. Can't remember what DH made to go with his, I finished off the lunchtime dip and added homemade tzatziki.

Thank you to whoever posted the recipe for the chicken, quite delicious.

I ate the lot of the celeriac because they were delicious and because I felt as if I could do with clearing out those train carriages. All sorted in a ICE continental express kind of way.

prettybird · 06/02/2022 21:01

@FinallyHere - my plan is to email it to my (85 year old Shock) dad and dh for the moment. Dh knows the password to my computer anyway.

FinallyHere · 06/02/2022 21:52

Sounds like a plan @prettybird

venusandmars · 06/02/2022 22:35

@prettybird @FinallyHere thank you, you have reminded me about some 'adult' things that are on my to do list.

If I popped my clogs tonight dh would have no idea which accounts to look for (my business accounts) or where my will is lodged (even thought he knows what my will contains).

There's something about this way of eating that brings clarity to these issues...

prettybird · 06/02/2022 22:45

'Tis true @venusandmars Smile

Is it because we're now more in control of what we eat (rather than being controlled by the need to eat crap ), that we then feel we have more headspace to deal with "other" things? WinkHalo

That reminds me: I need to include an item for "yarn", to say who/where I want my stash to go Shock I still cry internally when I think of the black bag of high quality yarn of my mum's that my dad gave away (via me:I actually gave to my MIL who passed it on to a local nursing home) as at that point I hadn't started knitting again myself Sad

Thank you for your questions @BIWI. I don't have a medical condition other than unexplained high blood pressure, which I developed at 35 out of the blue, despite running half marathons and doing long-distance cycling. I've had a lot of tests and doctors had said it was just down to a bad gene. It made my pregnancies very high risk and I got pre-eclampsia with DC1.

My new cardiologist seems to want to do more to try to get to the bottom of it. My cholesterol is also too high at 6 and I have a fat tummy.
I'm 176cm, 147lbs and BMI 21.5. I hope that this WOE will help me cut cholesterol, lose my fat tummy and drop my blood pressure. I'm on medication for that at the moment.

Thank you for showing an interest :)

Sorry hope I haven't posted this on the wrong chat as your questions were on this chat Blush
