magimedi · 10/03/2020 09:44

I hope that RapidRainbow does not mind me starting Part II of the thread - if you do let me know & I'll ask for it to be deleted.

It would just be a shame to not carry on as this is such a positive place.

Part I is here:

@roussette Grin

Delurking to say thankyou so much for this thread! I still feel panic brewing when I see the word on TV or in a headline but I just come straight here to calm down! Needed it as I'm a teacher and coming off maternity leave this week and didn't think I'd be able to! Good news is DH has been supplying me with many many creme eggs every time he goes to the shop!

7Days · 10/03/2020 15:07

Those jokes are TERRIBLE you should be ashamed of yourselves.
I'm off to wallow in doom

kitk · 10/03/2020 15:07

Thank you for the thread everyone. I don't have anything positive to add at the mo but wanted to place mark so I can find the thread and have a proper read after work. I hope that's ok. Going thru the kalms like nothing before at the moment and can't sleep 😕

madeyemoodysmum · 10/03/2020 15:08

Place marking.

Thymelord · 10/03/2020 15:09

I posted the John Travolta one on my facebook yesterday Grin

Canshopwillshop · 10/03/2020 15:15

@Roussette - my friend just posted that on FB and I think it’s hilarious. You’re braver than me though, I thought about putting it on here but didn’t have the guts 😅 The John Travolta one is good too. Keep em coming, it’s good for lifting spirts.

@unluckyagain - wine over toilet roll, I like your style. Think wine is helping me through this crisis and fretting about our big holiday plans next month.

Roussette · 10/03/2020 15:26

Canshopwillshop Grin
I did dither whether to post it but these are special times aren't they....
And as we're taking the piss out the english too, I thought I might get away with it!

Please don't be offended anyone!

There is a news article in the Guardian (I don't want to link it in case it is not positive enough). Basically they have developed and started to use a drug on those who are very stricken with Covid, it helps alleviate the symptoms. That's good news to me.

Arcadia · 10/03/2020 15:41

Insight Timer is a brilliant free mindfulness/meditation app for those who were asking about that.

Layladylay234 · 10/03/2020 15:46

Ok,I've found my positive story of the day...how can you not think this is brilliant. Shall I post it on the doom laser thread and watch them all scream how the Smurfs are so selfish??

magimedi · 10/03/2020 15:48

Theres a case at my local hospital. Shes been there since thursday but was only announced today. I was there on friday for a scan so freaking a bit. Anyway the article in paper say theyre using a new drug on her so fingers crossed it works x

DianneWhatcock · 10/03/2020 15:51

I am so glad I've found this thread

💐 to everyone worrying

I have been completely ok up till today when I heard on the news that 6 are now dead in the uk 😞😞😞

I'm sick of hearing people stressing about it Cos I think it makes people worse. I am also worried about all the twats stockpiling I honestly think they'll cause more bother than the virus itself

magimedi · 10/03/2020 15:53

Another joke:

Was standing in line at the post office this morning when two men entered wearing masks, total panic till one said "this is a robbery"
Everyone relaxed.

StillNotANewUser · 10/03/2020 15:56

Afternoon all. Placemarking, mostly.

But also just to say that DH works in the acute respiratory wards of our local hospital and so is in daily contact with confirmed and suspected covid-19 patients. And we have a 5 month old baby at home. And I'm STILL not panicking!

Selfishly, I'm worried about the impact of any isolation on my therapy appointments since I'm having a really hard time with PTSD and struggling to cope with that. But I do realise this is ridiculously self-centred when isolation protects the elderly and weak from dying Blush.

Bloodybackpain · 10/03/2020 15:57

Loving the jokes, making me smile!

Roussette · 10/03/2020 16:00

I went to Tesco Extra today (not close to me but needs must).

I was in my car parked up on a phone call, and in front my car this tiny little old couple walked by. They looked very old, stooped and doddery. But...
they were carrying all these packs of toilet rolls! He had two packs under each arms, and one up a jumper, she was clutching numerous packs...... by the time I finished my call, they were putting the loot in their car!

AlandAnna · 10/03/2020 16:00

Love it magimedi

Hello friends.

Got my normal online shopping last night, nothing missing. The news is getting a bit calmer in its reporting I feel, although I’m avoiding checking too much and getting on with the day to day.

Apricotfool · 10/03/2020 16:24

Just popping in to say when I couldn’t sleep last night Mumsnet classics was my friend. Thickos on TripAdvisor had me in stitches. Overheard in public is really funny too:)

M0reGinPlease · 10/03/2020 16:31

My strategy is to keep calm- cases will peak and then start to decline won't they? Positive news coming from China this week.

Hopefully moving into warmer weather will help too and fingers crossed a vaccine will be dished out with seasonal flu vaccine next winter.

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 10/03/2020 16:37

I've just thought of a bright side to a possible 2-week lockdown. We will have the cleanest, tidiest, rubbish-free houses with all the outstanding little DIY jobs (hopefully) done!!

M0reGinPlease · 10/03/2020 16:43

There is no bright side to a lock down. Sorry, I know this thread is meant to be positive but that's the thing I'm really worried about- my husband is self employed. We will not be able to pay our mortgage!

DianneWhatcock · 10/03/2020 16:46

@M0reGinPlease I totally agree. I am self employed too, I will be buggered if I can't work

Dusty01 · 10/03/2020 16:52

Am I right in thinking that everyone is still going to work in Italy, whilst it is in lockdown?

DobbyTheHouseElk · 10/03/2020 16:52

Feeling positive today, because I haven’t read the news all day!

CaveMum · 10/03/2020 16:53

Marking my place. Been too busy with Cheltenham for reading the news today!
