I just think she's a breath of fresh air. She's real and authentic, she's come from a poor upbringing. She was her mums carer age 9, was a teenager mum, worked in social care and worked her way up the ladder. I just find it amazing that she's achieved all of this from how her life started. If she was running for PM and the next general election I will definitely be voting for her.

I don’t always agree with her but I like her and think she’s in politics for the right reasons. The British do like to hate female politicians and hold them to a higher account though.

And before anyone starts on the "classist" nonsense - there's a world of difference between having a rough start in life, getting educated, learning a bit about the world and getting into politics and Angela Rayner.

Right. My FIL had to leave primary school to care for his mother. He never did manage to compete secondary school, and university was out of the question as he had a family to support. But he read incessantly, worked different jobs and was curious about the world, travelling whenever he could in the latter part of his life. Never met anyone with such a fine vocabulary. And his grammar, Irish-inflected as it was, was a thing of perfection.

Margaret Thatcher’s dad was a grocer. He owned the shop and they lived upstairs.
Not exactly down the mines but hardly posh. And I would argue a small single shop selling vegetables where you live upstairs is working class!
