To think that Angela Rayner could be PM one day.

I just think she's a breath of fresh air. She's real and authentic, she's come from a poor upbringing. She was her mums carer age 9, was a teenager mum, worked in social care and worked her way up the ladder. I just find it amazing that she's achieved all of this from how her life started. If she was running for PM and the next general election I will definitely be voting for her.

And what background is that ? Common, gobby, northern, thick working class by any chance.
Reported as a second thinly veiled misogynistic thread designed to distract from the shenanigans going on in the Tory party.

@TheFuckingDogs

The snobbery on this thread is breathtaking
Unreal isn't it.

It's not snobbery to want the best of the best as a potential PM.

Someone who is clever, switched on, has a wide life experience and a grasp of the historical and social background to issues not just in your home town but across the UK and across the world. The PM is the UK's representative on the world stage and we deserve to be represented by someone who will do us proud.

Angela Rayner is not that person.

Theluggage15 · 19/01/2022 13:04

She’s an absolute idiot. Crying snobbery is laughable.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 19/01/2022 13:07

I agree with the poster who said she's the Labour equivalent of JRM and this is the problem in today's political landscape, that instead of targeting the middle ground where most voters are at home, politically, both parties have become more trenchant in their ideology and alienate the their prospective voters from the other side.

luckylavender · 19/01/2022 13:07

I think she's good on Labour's front bench but no further.

Diditreallylookawful · 19/01/2022 13:08

Goodness NO! Definitely not. Although if you want a guaranteed Tory win next time, maybe she should give it a go.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 19/01/2022 13:09

NC's?
Sorry, typo. NC'd.

AssignedBlobbyAtBirth · 19/01/2022 13:09

I'm northern working class and she is everything I hate. She does not represent me or the working class women I know. Years ago I was a Unison rep and she does remind me of the men and women who rise through the union ranks unfortunately
Even without that she is a disgrace to women. She pretends not to know what a woman is and promised to keep the front bench warm for Lily MadiganHmm it didn't take much reading to realise that LM is an unpleasant individual who is no friend to women

AuntMasha · 19/01/2022 13:12

Calling people snobs because they don’t like Angela Rayner is just silly.

GrimDamnFanjo · 19/01/2022 13:13

@PronounssheRa

Both Angela Raynor and Lisa Nandy signed a pledge which committed to expelling women who raise concerns about women's rights and safeguarding, from the Labour Party.

Lisa Nandy also thinks any male, including rapists who self declare themselves as women should be housed in women's prisons if they commit crimes.

So it's a no from me.

This.

Snobbery?Even as a "thick northerner " myself living in social housing ,I can see her for what she is a bully .
Sartre · 19/01/2022 13:15

People always pick on her dialect because they presumably expect a PM like the amazing Bojo with his Eton boy accent. We’re too used to toffs running the country I suppose but regular people do talk like Angela and I think she’s great personally.

roarfeckingroarr · 19/01/2022 13:16

No chance. She's vulgar and too left wing to be voted in with a majority,

I’d say someone who was a carer as a young child and then a teenage Mum probably does have quite a wide life experience. More so than the privately educated Eton boys at the top right now anyway.

Nothing to do with her Dialect I live in Greater Manchester and have a similar Dialect and accent ,I think she's utterly vile .
A580Hojas · 19/01/2022 13:19

I love these random odd political posts by first time posters.

Shambolicatthleast · 19/01/2022 13:19

No ones saying she should be PM. She will never be so this discussion is just pointless.
However it’s ironic that all the posters claiming that labour have lost touch with their core electorate now lambast AR for being too w/c or not the right kind of w/c, whatever that is. So she’s gobby, heavily northern accented, brash, common, thick as mince, not really w/c, not the acceptable version of w/c which presumably is concealing your roots, knowing your place and acting as m/c as you can. Like I say, her constituents seem to like her, she gets voted in and as far I know she hasn’t lied to the queen or to parliament.
And again she will never be PM.

Lipsandlashes · 19/01/2022 13:20

Do you know her personally? What part of her personality do you think make her suited for the PM post?

So true. Silly and unintelligent.
Shambolicatthleast · 19/01/2022 13:22

@x2boys but you vote Tory ? You think the tories are the answer to northern woes. Of course she’s ‘utterly vile’. Oh and I think your MP has defected to Labour Grin

ginghamstarfish · 19/01/2022 13:22

No, nothing to do with accent or upbringing, would be all for someone who's not Eton educated etc, but she's not the right person at all.

Yerroblemom1923 · 19/01/2022 13:23

I think AR needs to be given a chance and there IS a lot of snobbery on MN - she speaks with an accent, she's Northern, she calls a spade a spade, she comes from a WC background......but what has Eton born and bred Boris done for us??! Well he talks posh and he's Eton educated so all's well.....

PuntasticUsername · 19/01/2022 13:23

"She is not a good representation of what working class women can be."

Why does she have to be a good representation of what working class women can be? Johnson's rise to the top hasn't been impeded by him being one of the worst possible examples of an upper-class twit.
