Wow ...ive always loved Giles ( I think find memories log Supersizers Go when I was 13) but that is horrific.
There isn't even really a point to the column ... he just sitters on about how gross it is to be fat and all of the horrible images he had when he cuddles his little boy ...the tone is cruel and pokes fun with contempt ...i don't get it.

I don't think it's a coincidence that Adele, Paul Hollywood, Diane Abbott, and even Russell Grant have had better careers than Coren....

And he doesn't seem to understand anything about obesity, so it's just ignorant as well as crass and nasty. Poor people are more likely to be fat than well-off people, not less, because when cheap carbs and fat are all you can afford, that's what you eat. All his nonsense about "each actual fat person is blatantly just a badly brought-up, greedy little son of a bitch committing the unforgivable sin of gluttony in a world where there is not enough food to go round" is just factually wrong. He's targetting poor people for the sin of being poor.

What an unpleasant article - extremely rude to overweight people, and generally offensive and just with such a horrible tone. I don't know his work much, but I didn't think he was such an awful man.

Always hated him. Smuggest man alive. The papers are full of arseholes like him who got where they are through nepotism. Just because any literate person can churn out a column doesn't mean the bar shouldn't be set a bit higher than it is.
