Fucking arsehole.

Not content with fat shaming his son and using the word “retarded” because he is an arsehole. His only worry about his son is that he might grow up far. He isn’t worried if this happens to his daughter as “there are uses for fat women”.

Fucking arsehole.

Latest article in Esquire magazine.

No Giles, you’re not funny or satirical....you’re a fucking arsehole.

I don’t care what MY son becomes as long as he isn’t a dickhead like you.

Fucking Hell, I'm struggling to believe this is not a hoax. Who could be so cruel to their own son, What a public humiliation for when he is older.
It's actually his own fucking fault too as he admits he can't be arsed to give him carrots instead of a bag of crisps.
The comments about his daughter reveal him to be a massive chauvinist too.

reachforthestarseveryday · 10/11/2017 12:44

The word' retard' was one of the less offensive things about that article. Just eurgh.

Lonelynessie · 10/11/2017 12:44

Yes, he's a dick. I used to like him but then watched that hotel show he did with Monica Galetti and my god he was so rude to some of the staff members who worked in the hotels, particularly the ones who he deemed to be working lower down in the company. The way he belittled some of the workers about their jobs was just unacceptable.

DeputyBrennan · 10/11/2017 12:44

Imagine growing up and realising your dad paid the bills by taking the piss out of you (in not particularly clever or funny ways) in the national press/media.

And yes, I do understand satire. Giles’s writing is crass and unsophisticated. I suspect he thinks the only way to keep getting work ahead of younger and more talented writers simply to write the stuff he assumes everybody else dares not to.

GingerIvy · 10/11/2017 12:45

Satire is meant to be funny. That is most decidedly not funny. There's no wit involved at all.

MintyChops · 10/11/2017 12:47

What a nasty, poisonous article. His poor little boy.

BatShite · 10/11/2017 12:47

I can't even read his name without feeling a little nauseous tbh, after reading the article on wanking that he did.

Vile vile man he is.

Tinty · 10/11/2017 12:47

What a horrible man, I really want his mum to come on here and say "I was worried when my little boy was a bit chubby as a child but he's now a slim adult, which is fine, but I have just read his article in Esquire and he's grown up to be a really horrible ignorant dick! I would rather he'd been fat", from the DM of Giles Coren.

Just incase anyone was wondering. I am not exaggerating when I say, do not eat right before reading it as it really is THAT bad

Dustysparrow · 10/11/2017 12:53

What the fuck have I just read? I cannot believe somebody would write such a horrible piece about their own child (who is only what, 3 or 4 years old going by the photo). And then to have the nerve to blame his wife because she does the cooking and is a 'lazy tart' - what's stopping him from doing the shopping and cooking if he's so fucking worked up about it all.

If I was his wife I would be ashamed of him. Really fucking ashamed. He comes across as a shallow, self important twat.

RhiannonOHara · 10/11/2017 12:54

Genuine request, not being goady: could someone explain how it's satire?

Weebo · 10/11/2017 12:55

You could possibly call it an attempt at satire - a poor attempt - but you would be being incredibly kind.

He simply doesn't have the wit to pull it off.

I'm more perplexed by people like the editors at Esquire who continue to give this mediocre excuse of a writer any sort of platform.

Dustysparrow · 10/11/2017 12:56

Do you think his wife saw this piece-of-shit article before it went to print?????

WhooooAmI24601 · 10/11/2017 12:58

I think what it proves is that GC thinks he's funnier and wittier and more intelligent than he truly is. I feel a little sorry for him because he's going to have his arse handed to him on a plate over this and the blinkers will be thoroughly removed from readers eyes showing them what a limp, dull writer he truly is.

Thankfully his Sister seems much less of a cunt.

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 10/11/2017 13:00

Satire has to have a purpose - to expose something if you will. That article is just damn nasty and unpleasant. It's not humerous or shedding light on anything, it's just vile.

And yes, if my parents told the entire population that they thought I was a fat little bastard and that's the worst thing in the world I could be, then yes, I would fuck me up for a good long time. As would, as per an earlier example on here, my father thinking that taking me on holiday at the age of 3 is sexy. I'm not exaggerating anything he's said. Those are just snippets from what has been publicly published.
But I fear, we are simply giving him the clicks he wants. It's Daily Mail/Katie Hopkins syndrome, isn't it?

derxa · 10/11/2017 13:01

I can't stand him or all his little group.

Weebo · 10/11/2017 13:01

Dusty some people don't care as long as their bank balance is increasing.

thecatfromjapan · 10/11/2017 13:01

@sarahjconnor Good observation.

It's a form of (paid) public masturbation, then, isn't it? I wonder if it's the same with all trolls, of the Katie Hopkins variety as well as the on-line GFs.

RhiannonOHara · 10/11/2017 13:02

Hodge, expose what, in this case? (I know you don't think it IS satire, but hypothetically?)

Gierg · 10/11/2017 13:02

YANBU

I got that he was trying to be satirical but it failed and just came off mean...

Poor wee kid, I’d hate to stumble on something like that about me written by my parents...

TossDaily · 10/11/2017 13:04

Is he quite well?

DJBaggySmalls · 10/11/2017 13:06

I hope his son posts Daddies wallet in the microwave.

ScipioAfricanus · 10/11/2017 13:09

Yes - two necessary components for satire - 1) the purpose is to highlight some kind of hypocrisy, pretence or wrong doing through sending it up/exaggerating etc and 2) it must be funny. I can’t gain any sense of what this man is trying to achieve if it is satirical (possibly the judgmental authorial voice - but he switches tone so much throughout it is hard to get a grasp in his object(s)) and it is certainly not funny. There is simply no excuse for using ‘retarded’ when it is used as a playground insult and it has hugely damaging effects on the status of the disabled.

Raver84 · 10/11/2017 13:10

He's a total nob and I feel sorry for his kids.

mrsRosaPimento · 10/11/2017 13:10

Madeline, 😱
