Run/jog/walk a mile a day in 2020. Join the bandwagon early

I have completed couch to 5k in the past
I have given up on running in the past
I have tried and failed in the past

But I have a plan for 2020

I am going to run/jog a mile a day for the year.

I know some days I will be knackered and fail but if I do I will do more the next day to make up for it.

Anyone like to join me ?

The average human walks 3mph, so it takes around 20 mins.

Does it have to be a mile all in one go? If I have a half mile walk somewhere and walk back later is that allowed?

Don’t want to rain on your parade but if you haven’t done a lot of exercise before, running every day can make you prone to injury. Your body needs rest days too. A few of my running friends picked up a lot of injuries doing RED last January.

Walking as long as your used to it should be fine.

My stop is Blackfriars and my office is about a mile away. When I worked out it took as long to tube it as it did to walk, I started doing that twice a day. I’ve been thinking about attempting a light jog every day - well, I only work three days a week I’m the office - but would love to join you guys.

I'm in!
I've lost a couple of stone in the past 6 months which has made it easier to start being more active - got a couple more to go now!
I ran my first parkrun this morning in a steady 43 minutes and I've signed up to a Race at Your Pace challenge of 25 miles in January. I need something to make me accountable or I will talk myself out of it!

Yes. I’d really like to do this. I used to run a lot, but I’ve had lots of trouble with injuries.

Can I join! Please. I have run 1-2 miles a day since 2017-June 2019 and fell off. It is do able and it’s a great feeling. Planning to start again in 2020 🤩

20 mins walking seems doable. 10 mins from the front door, turn around and come back. Surely I can manage that!

I already have this on my plan and started today, have a route already for the 1 mile and another longer one for when I get fitter and the weather gets better. Plan to balance my work / life better and I am also going to ditch sugar or as near as I can.

Oh I can only walk, hopefully quite fast by summer, not allowed to run due to joint/back issues

I'd love to join, please! I started C25K but fell off in week 5 as it got colder. I really need to do this to help me lose the 2+ stone I want to lose. Love the idea of walking for 20 minutes to cover a mile! Plus, I'll re- start the running and do that 3x a week instead.

Very happy to have people on board.

My plan is to try and get out every day but if I do miss a day the important thing is to average 7 miles over the week.

The biggest thing is to just get off my arse more than I have been doing and this seems a do-able challenge.

I started this about September and kept it up till I was floored bu a heavy cold about a month ago, very slow jogging but on a circuit that has hills to get my heartrate up. I was thinking of starting again today.

I figure once it becomes a habit it will be fine.
My fitness is not great at the minute but this will hopefully help me get there rather than kill me Grin

I am in - have done this the last two days to get myself ready for goal start of 1st Jan. I did this last January and loved it; I'd like to see how far I can go with it.
