Despite a pretty rubbish april for me ( too much poor health) I'm going to carry on in May as much as I can. Hope you will all join me!

a friendly and supportive thread for those attempting daily yoga with Adrienne ( or kassandra or anyone!)

I’m in!

I started off really well in April, but sick DC and starting a full-on new job knocked me of course at the back end of the month.

Starting again tomorrow before work!

ScottishBeth · 01/05/2023 21:08

Thanks @Sooverthemill

I had a pretty good April - only missed 1 day. However I wasn't able to keep up with Home every day. I'm enjoying it but still have a week of it left, which I want to finish.

I didn't have time for a longer practice today so did a 10 minute Yoga for Focus and Productivity (or something). It was really good. Had some warrior 2 and triangle, and wide leg forward fold. My right hip didn't like warrior 2 though! When my right leg was forwards - probably because of the running. I have noticed if I have a few days of yoga for self care type practices I find it really difficult physically. So I tried to pick one today that was fairly energetic despite being short.

Wondering what everyone else has planned for May?

Following!

notanicepersonapparently · 01/05/2023 21:24

I’m finishing off the OG 30 days. I’ve 4 days left and then I’m doing home. I have enjoyed this early one and might repeat it at some time in the future.

Buttalapasta · 01/05/2023 21:29

Thanks for the new thread! Amazingly, I've managed every day since 2nd January. (I say amazingly because I usually start but give up mid-March!) I feel like a bit of a change this month though so I'm doing Kassandra's 10 minute morning yoga followed by some weights.

ScottishBeth · 02/05/2023 07:41

That is amazing @Buttalapasta Well done!

Sooverthemill · 02/05/2023 09:00

Day 17 of kassandra's morning challenge. Really enjoyed this one

Did Home day 24 - Uplift today. A nice flow but I misheard and did a left lunge rather than a right, so was a bit confused in the subsequent poses. Yoga for the brain?

Sooverthemill · 02/05/2023 21:05

@ScottishBeth sometimes I am certain Adrienne says the wrong leg!

Morning everyone, Can I join in. Im on Day 16,( Anchor) in the move series. Ive only just taken up Yoga due to stress. I started about 5 weeks ago and the difference has been incredible. I see a physio weekly for pain in my neck/ upper back that seems really stuck. She said I need to do something extra to help with stress so I looked up YWA.
My hip flexibility has improved so much.

I ordered myself a lovely mat from yoga matters that arrived yesterday. My cheap one was very slippy and plasticky.
What a difference a good mat makes?

Jumbojem · 03/05/2023 09:06

Good morning! I'm still going but only do weekday yoga now, I do it first thing but either like a lie in our have other things to get in with at the weekend.
I have got to Day 21 of the OG series and plan to finish it off but yesterday I did the one in Adrienne's May calendar as the OG one was over 30 mins and I didn't have enough time. Today I did "Core and Restore" which was at the top of the playlist. It was a lovely one, all the core work was lying on your back followed by some nice stretches and a lengthy corpse pose, recommended if you want a core one which doesn't include planks!
Lovely start to a sunny days annual leave.

Trickedbyadoughnut · 03/05/2023 16:45

Hello all, I'm jumping in as I started on the Center thread in January, got to day 10 and then broke my finger and tore away a tendon - 3 months without exerting greater force on it than 500g = no yoga!

Finally got the OK to start fun stuff on 12 April, so eased back in and now going to try to complete Center during May instead.

Would feel great to get it done and it's my birthday on 31 so would be extra special :)

Sooverthemill · 03/05/2023 16:54

Say something or other of Kassandra which was another good one and then I got to do my strength exercises with a resistance band prescribed by my osteopath. Not as fun

@ihatethecold ( me too btw!) welcome. All are welcome we are a friendly bunch. A decent mat does help a
lot once you know you will get use out of it I think

Hi everyone. I have been doing some yoga but not posting. Today I did Center Day 12. The one with the elevator lifts. When I fit yoga into my day I find myself calmer and enjoy life more. Conversely when life is a bit tougher I find it harder to motivate myself to do yoga even though I probably need it more.

ScottishBeth · 04/05/2023 07:26

I ended yesterday with Home day 24 - also called Unwind @OopNorfDahnSarf It started very similar to the Center one, but thankfully there was no core work (just skimmed through the Center one to remind myself). It was just what I needed as little one was literally up half the night before so I was shattered.

I can't remember who recommended Built to Move last month. But I am really enjoying it. I haven't really done any of the interventions but I'm going to start tomorrow. The tests are good though. Some I'm doing well, some terrible.

Welcome back @Trickedbyadoughnut that sounds horrendous! Glad you are doing better. And welcome @ihatethecold glad you found YWA and us!

ihatethecold · 04/05/2023 08:02

Thanks @ScottishBeth

what is built to move?

ScottishBeth · 04/05/2023 08:47

@ihatethecold it's a book. It's about activity which isn't exercise which will sort of maximise your mobility (including into old age). So there are 10 things they suggest we should work towards, with diagnostic tests to see how you perform and interventions to improve the score. For example can you sit on the floor and stand up again without using your hands/knees/anything else or losing your balance? Then some stretches and other things to work on that skill. We got to talk about the sitting and standing thing last month and someone recommended the book.

Sooverthemill · 04/05/2023 09:47

Day 20of kassandra and strength exercises. I probably need that book!

OP posts:
ScottishBeth · 04/05/2023 18:04

@Sooverthemill let me know if you have any questions!

Today I did Yoga for runners - physical and mental stamina. I wanted something that would give me a good stretch after my run and include some strengthening elements as well. It fit the bill perfectly!

notanicepersonapparently · 04/05/2023 19:54

Have you ever ‘flipped your dog’? I have, on day 28 of the OG 30days. I’m not sure it’s something I would do regularly.

ScottishBeth · 04/05/2023 20:11

@notanicepersonapparently I've never done it and I don't think I've ever done a video or class where it was included. Why do you say you wouldn't do it regularly?

notanicepersonapparently · 04/05/2023 20:54

I thought the name seemed a bit silly (rude possibly?). Also the pose ends up with your upper body in a side plank and lower body in a bridge. Odd.

Buttalapasta · 05/05/2023 09:21

@ScottishBeth You've reminded me that I bought Built to Move too after that recommendation and then promptly forgot about it. 😳 Will start reading it today!

Today I did Day 5 of Kassandra which was nice and stretchy. I'm not really into the affirmations but today's was "I am a money magnet" so I'm going to buy a scratchcard and will report back. 😁

keiratwiceknightly · 05/05/2023 09:24

I'm aiming for EveryDayMay as well. So far I've managed it and feeling really good. I do quite strong, almost aerobic style yoga rather than slow zen stuff... after getting a bit doughy from a bad back injury it's great to be feeling powerful and watching the muscle tone return.
