Despite a pretty rubbish april for me ( too much poor health) I'm going to carry on in May as much as I can. Hope you will all join me!

a friendly and supportive thread for those attempting daily yoga with Adrienne ( or kassandra or anyone!)

Posting to remind me to read and get motivated again.

Jumbojem · 20/05/2023 19:52

@Rummikub hope you find your mojo!
Day 2 of Yoga Camp for me today, 50 minutes! I was a bit nervous about how I'd find doing such a long session but it was done at a slow pace and nothing too challenging.

Rummikub · 21/05/2023 01:27

Thanks jumbo! I do miss it but I think cos I fell off the thread I just stopped. So I’m reading and if you can do 50 mins maybe I can find a 20 minute one.

Hello all I have been awol for so long but finally caught up with you all. It is great reading all the updates from all of you old and new to the threads .
Love goga @ScottishBeth
Thanks @Sooverthemill for keeping the threads going .

I have lost my daily yoga mojo as I have learned I have to have a hysterectomy and somehow it has made me give up a little ( silly I know !) anyhow I have been doing some of the Kassandra sessions when I can find motivation. Plus a few YWA ones that are old favourites.
I hope that you will all still be here when I am recovered enough to think about restarting - no idea what to expect really in terms f when it will feel safe to resume. Will be able to get advice from the physio at the hospital so I can make sure I am careful!

I missed this. That's tough. We'll still be here when you're up to it. Best of luck.

bellinisurge · 21/05/2023 08:14

I just completed 30 days - the original series. Feel so proud of myself. I enjoy it so much I subscribed to her app. It basically curates all her free stuff that's on Youtube with bonus bits from other teachers. I'm doing the osteoporosis series now. I'm not sure if that's free on YouTube yet

ScottishBeth · 21/05/2023 15:42

@Rummikub good yo see you!

@Jumbojem I've often thought I'd like to do some of the really long sessions but have never been able to motivate myself to do them. Well done to you!

I have been continuing with daily yoga, mostly whatever took my fancy. But yesterday I started Revolution. Its quite different to the other series. Its 31 days and started on 1st January rather than the 2nd 😱But so far haven't had the epically long DD that you often get. I've felt good after both practices so far, anyway.

Rummikub · 21/05/2023 16:35

@ScottishBeth 👋🏽 hi

its good to read what everyone is doing. I just did some yoga stretches this morning but must get back on it properly again.

What’s everyone going to do next month?

Sooverthemill · 21/05/2023 19:36

Had a day off today, busy evening and day today. Back tomorrow!

OP posts:
Sooverthemill · 21/05/2023 19:37

@ScottishBeth I love Revolution! It's one of the early ones

Sooverthemill · 22/05/2023 08:10

a five minute stretch one from Adrienne which was delicious

Just want to say I'm loving yoga camp so far. The sessions are long which would have put me off in the past but it's at a much slower pace (so far...) than something like Move. A long time breathing and settling in at the beginning, often followed by an extended cat cow session where she invites you to stretch and move as you feel you need to iron out the parts you feel need it.
That took up at least 10 minutes of today's 36 minutes, followed by a sun salutation flow and then some knee to nose stretches and hip work.
The sessions fly by, I just need to make sure I factor in enough time!
I'm working through the series from the start but don't do it every day. Wonder if I can have done them all once by the time we get around to January 2024?!

ScottishBeth · 22/05/2023 15:51

That's good you're enjoying it @Jumbojem ! Have you got to day 6 yet? Haha! It would be amazing if you got them all done in a year.

Day 3 of Revolution was lovely! I really enjoyed it this morning.

I had a thought about something. Yesterday she mentioned that this was Hatha yoga - is that what Adriene teaches or does she teach a mix? Does anyone know how it all works?

Miriam101 · 22/05/2023 17:04

Hi all, can I join? I started today on a bit of a whim, but felt so brilliant afterwards I have decided this is something for me. (I have never done any yoga at all apart from the odd class about 20 years ago, and am now achy and in my 40s.) I'm doing a slightly random YWA from 2015 or thereabouts. It'd be lovely to share experiences with others, especially beginners like me :-)

hoochycrone · 22/05/2023 17:17

Hello! 👋
Haven't posted for ages.
I went through an ill phase, couldn't do Adriene so tried Kassandra's 10 min ones each day.
For me keeping it simple and short has been good.
Feel better now so may try some longer ones.

hoochycrone · 22/05/2023 17:18

Well done @Miriam101 Smile

notanicepersonapparently · 22/05/2023 18:05

Hi @Miriam101 and all the regulars. I’ve not checked in for a while but still doing daily yoga. I’m on day 26 of Home. It’s a very lovely series as @Sooverthemill said. There’s nothing too strenuous so it’s very comforting and enables you to be very accepting of yourself.

ScottishBeth · 22/05/2023 18:11

Welcome @Miriam101 I read your other thread bit didn't have chance to reply. Glad you have found us. In person classes will probably help, but lots of people just do them online. As long as you don't force anything - I read something recently that said if you can't breathe properly in a shape you can't do the shape. So bend your knees (or whatever) so that it's comfortable! Adriene has lots of lovely beginner videos, and her foundations of yoga series goes through some of the key shapes and is really helpful.

@hoochycrone hope you are feeling OK! Nice to see you.

@notanicepersonapparently I really liked Home as well. It felt very calming. Do you know what you're going to do next?

notanicepersonapparently · 22/05/2023 18:21

I see I made a typo. Only on day 16 so no need to decide yet but I will probably do one of the early ones.

Buttalapasta · 23/05/2023 07:31

Well it had to happen sooner or later! Yesterday I felt too rough to do yoga and broke my 140 day streak! Now I have to get back to it and not throw in the towel!

ScottishBeth · 23/05/2023 08:15

Oh no! @Buttalapasta You've done so well. It doesn't matter though. One day off (or 2 or 3, if you're still not feeling well)isn't going to undo all the benefits. The important thing is going back to the mat.

Sooverthemill · 23/05/2023 08:56

So I did Adrienne’s yoga for when you’re not motivated ( DH laughed) but it was really good. Slow start and great poses. Will definitely repeat. Trying to get back up to 10 minutes

Sooverthemill · 23/05/2023 08:58

@Miriam101 all welcome here! We are a friendly bunch. I only do online yoga now so take a look around and see what you fancy

Miriam101 · 23/05/2023 13:31

Thanks @hoochycrone @notanicepersonapparently @Sooverthemill and @ScottishBeth! I feel very welcomed :-)

This morning for the first time in a long time I had that "I worked out yesterday" feeling- my arms and stomach muscles felt quite tender. Not sure whether to push through that and do another session today, or whether I should give myself a rest and get back into it tomorrow. After 2 kids and 2 years of wfh, I think my body is seriously weak!

ScottishBeth · 23/05/2023 16:22

@Miriam101 you might have already done something but if not you could look for a short stretchy session which hopefully wouldn't be too strenuous. I feel like doing regular yoga has helped me get a lot stronger, so it's not surprising that you're a bit sore! Hope it's bett34 soon.

Miriam101 · 23/05/2023 18:37

@ScottishBeth I threw caution to the wind and did day 2 with Adriene. Felt quite strenuous but great. Glad to have done it but goodness knows what I'll feel like when I wake up tomorrow....
