Despite a pretty rubbish april for me ( too much poor health) I'm going to carry on in May as much as I can. Hope you will all join me!

a friendly and supportive thread for those attempting daily yoga with Adrienne ( or kassandra or anyone!)

Hello all I have been awol for so long but finally caught up with you all. It is great reading all the updates from all of you old and new to the threads .
Love goga @ScottishBeth
Thanks @Sooverthemill for keeping the threads going .

I have lost my daily yoga mojo as I have learned I have to have a hysterectomy and somehow it has made me give up a little ( silly I know !) anyhow I have been doing some of the Kassandra sessions when I can find motivation. Plus a few YWA ones that are old favourites.
I hope that you will all still be here when I am recovered enough to think about restarting - no idea what to expect really in terms f when it will feel safe to resume. Will be able to get advice from the physio at the hospital so I can make sure I am careful!

She is very cute doing goga with me! It isn't the same experience as doing it on my own, but I'm planning on buying her a baby yoga book when she's 2 and seeing if she'll get more into it.

I didn't do yoga till just before bed last night. I was going to look for a 15 minute bedtime practice, but then I saw that the next one of Home, day 28, was called Nourish and was 17 minutes, so I decided that would be perfect. The name was misleading! It was a fairly energetic practice. But I really enjoyed it!

I did nourish yesterday also and loved it.
just what I needed !

ScottishBeth · 14/05/2023 07:56

@Shinyandnew2022 that must be hard. I hope you are ok. Yoga will still be here when you're up to it. Hope it all goes well.

I woke up yesterday morning and my hips felt so stiff, so yesterday I did Yoga Stretch, which was perfect. Today I'm going to do day 29 of Home.

We're going on holiday tomorrow, so I'm just going to do whatever takes my fancy for those few days. Then after that I'm going to do Dedicate. I picked it for the totally ridiculous reason that there's a picture of Adriene in Plow pose on one of the days. I love plow but have never done it as part of Yoga, and I want to. Some of the practices are a bit longer but I have no intention of doing this every day, so it should be OK. On the other days I'll do different ones depending time and mood. As I've been doing really.

Sooverthemill · 14/05/2023 14:21

Sorry everyone I have been doing daily yoga but missed Friday as we had to take old dog to the vets in an emergency. He’s ‘okay’ but it’s the beginning of the end of his days I think. Probably just a few weeks to go if we are lucky. Fingers crossed. So I’ve been doing Kassandra and it’s been good for my soul

@Shinyandnew2022 we will be here. Take care. It’s a big op and you will need to recover properly. But always here even if you aren’t up to yoga. X

Fab stretchy Kassandra today. Day 28! Doing me so much good

Checking in! I'm up to Day 27 of the OG YWA I hadn't really clocked in nearly at the end of it as I started it at beginning of April. Easter onwards been very busy here so I've been less consistent.
Ran a half mara yesterday so yoga was very much needed today, but def nothing like warriors or yoga squats! Thankfully it was a lovely one with lots of forward fold, standing stretches and tree. Going to squeeze another in this eve. Which means I really need to decide what's next...
I've really enjoyed this early series, she is a bit crazy at times but also suggests lots of alternatives you could do if you didn't want to do the pose she's currently doing and goes really into it. With her newer series she stays on message a lot more, both are great it's just nice seeing a different side of Adrienne.

Day 22 of true - only may and I am well on my way to completing a third month

Every one I have done I think "oh this is the best "

Guess they all good

notanicepersonapparently · 15/05/2023 18:29

I’m still going and enjoy reading all your posts. I’m on day 10 of Home. She does a little introduction at the start of each one. I’m so impatient though and I’m standing there thinking hurry up I’ve got to get the dinner on.

Sooverthemill · 16/05/2023 08:49

Here I am on day 29 of Kassandra! I’m really enjoying these short sessions. Did one today I’ve not done before ‘holding the cats tail’! A bit of a twisty one

Hi everyone. Still turning up to the mat. Today was Center Day 21 Strength. Side planks and core work. Surprise of the day. It is hard to do plank when you have a blister on your middle finger.

ScottishBeth · 16/05/2023 21:19

@OopNorfDahnSarf ouch! Blisters are the worst!

Have been very busy and active today on our holiday. I went for a run and did a quick runners yoga afterwards, but was still feeling super stiff this evening, so when my DW went to bed I stayed up to do 'Movement medicine - Calm'. It was lovely! Very stretchy all over, which is just what I needed. I've realised that my hip is very tight though (which probably explains why my knee is so sore this evening) so I'll do a nice hip practice tomorrow.

And now to bed!

Buttalapasta · 17/05/2023 07:00

I'm still enjoying Kassandra. Stuck working from home at the moment with 3 kids. All the schools are closed in our town and some people have been evacuated due to flooding. We had no rain in April but we're making up for it now! Yoga is my refuge from the chaos!

ScottishBeth · 17/05/2023 07:29

@Buttalapasta oh wow! I hope you and your family are doing ok. It sounds very stressful.

Sooverthemill · 17/05/2023 09:06

Oh wow @Buttalapasta ! I did day 30 of kassandra and feel ridiculously proud of my self for doing 10 minutes daily yoga. 4 years ago I'd have scoffed but times change , at a least I'm still on the mat

OP posts:
Buttalapasta · 17/05/2023 09:18

We're ok as we're on the 2nd floor but I'm kind of regretting not buying any wellies...

ihatethecold · 17/05/2023 17:40

can anyone suggest a short guide or video on how to eventually get into a low squat and my knees wont try to turn inwards? I can get right down now and im trying not to lean too far forward but im not stable

Jumbojem · 17/05/2023 20:57

I have done Day 29 of the OG YWA series. At the beginning they were quite long, around the 25-30 min mark. But this list week they have been less than 20 minutes. Good for fitting them in but I think I might benefit for a longer one a few times a week as I still have a long way to go mobility wise. Need to counter balance the hours spent at a desk!
Not sure what to start next, better have a gander at the YWA channel as if I leave it to the morning I'll spend my yoga time faffing about deciding.

Sooverthemill · 18/05/2023 08:42

So today I was in a rush so just hose the YWA one that was in my YouTube feed and it was a 17 minute yin one which was delicious. Just what I needed after a broken night

@ihatethecold i find that tricky too. My way is to use my elbows to push out my knees. I will see if I can find a tutorial later

OP posts:
ihatethecold · 18/05/2023 09:12

Thanks @Sooverthemill

Jumbojem · 18/05/2023 11:28

Finished the OG YWA and it was good. Decided to follow them in order so started Yoga Camp this morning. Day 1 was 30 mins and a delight, she went slowly through a few key poses and talked through how to get them right. Tomorrow is a 50 minute one, yikes, will need to get up early. The comments say don't let the length put you off and it flies by. Not done yoga for that long in ages so will be interesting to see how I get on, I've got too used to shorter ones so feel the challenge is good.

Sooverthemill · 19/05/2023 09:53

enj as others I need to go through and favourite the ones I like best

Yoga camp day 3 for me today, I will have to come back to the 50 minute day 2 over the weekend as just didn't have enough time before work.
Another lovely one this morning. They are much longer than Move, Centre but the slow steady approach is lovely, moving from one pose to the next is slow and steady and a good time in the reset poses between the more challenging ones is appreciated. Just have to be on the ball to factor in 30+ minutes.
