Sooverthemill · 01/05/2023 21:02

Despite a pretty rubbish april for me ( too much poor health) I'm going to carry on in May as much as I can. Hope you will all join me!

a friendly and supportive thread for those attempting daily yoga with Adrienne ( or kassandra or anyone!)

@notanicepersonapparently I have heard odd things about it. I would probably give it a shot if it came up but I might get halfway in and decide to stop.

@Buttalapasta I think you have to share! Maybe we need a MN YWA syndicate?

@keiratwiceknightly back injury sounds horrible! And totally agree - I've got a lot stronger from doing yoga.

Did Home day 26 today. It was another nice one. I found the standing split difficult today though.

UnaOfStormhold · 05/05/2023 18:11

Checking in - I got to day 20 on Move in April, finally managing a bit more consistency. Not sure what next, perhaps home or centre.

I think flipped dog is another name for wild thing - it requires quite a bit of flexibility and strength to do it well so most people are better off with other moves.

@ScottishBeth You've reminded me that I bought Built to Move too after that recommendation and then promptly forgot about it. 😳 Will start reading it today!

Today I did Day 5 of Kassandra which was nice and stretchy. I'm not really into the affirmations but today's was "I am a money magnet" so I'm going to buy a scratchcard and will report back. 😁

Well I didn't win anything! So much for being a money magnet, Kassandra!

notanicepersonapparently · 05/05/2023 22:48

I finished OG 30days (which as we all know means making it to day 29 as no one likes freestyle day 30). I enjoyed young Adrienne still finding her feet and occasionally inviting me to do a headstand or go straight to shavasana, because she’s not yet sure who her audience is.
looking forward to starting Home tomorrow.

Hahahhha. Love this. Did you actually go and buy a scratch card?

what a disappointment! 🤪

CirreltheSquirrel · 06/05/2023 07:11

I'm struggling through at the moment. I came off my bike (self inflicted) last week and really bashed up my arm, so I've been choosing my videos wisely to keep the streak going - focussing on standing or lying down rather than anything that needs me to put weight through the arm. It's improving now though, yesterday I managed a bit of cat cow and one short downward dog. I'm away this weekend too so will need to find something suitable for a premier Inn room!

Sooverthemill · 06/05/2023 07:42

I often used to do yoga in a hospital room! Let me find the one I often did, it's old and she also has a travel yoga series when she was travelling for her acting which can be done in small spaces. Again, they are old

Center Day 15 - Reset. I love yoga and I feel rested and serene.

Sooverthemill · 07/05/2023 09:09

Two days sadly missed. Some crap nights. Fingers crossed for tomorrow

OP posts:
Buttalapasta · 07/05/2023 09:35

I'm really enjoying Kassandra. I love Adriene but I needed a change.

OopNorfDahnSarf · 07/05/2023 11:12

Center Day 16 Kind. Lovely and gentle.

ihatethecold · 08/05/2023 08:25

I seem to be getting tons of adverts for yoga (paid for) on my phone.
has anyone paid for a sub and found it worth it?

Trickedbyadoughnut · 08/05/2023 09:26

I'm finding Center tough still - my broken finger won't straighten so finding downward dog difficult so I'm mixing it up with Adriene's bedtime yoga videos to give my hand a rest. So did Day 5 Center yesterday. Still very grateful to be able to start up yoga again though!

Sooverthemill · 08/05/2023 21:05

@ihatethecold i paid for a subscription to the FWFG app ( which is Adrienne) for many years but rarely used the extra content so during lockdown it was an economy I made. I think there is so much free stuff out there ( even if subsided by ads) it may not be worth it. Try a free trial?

day 22 of kassandra which was bliss.warrior 2! My favourite

OP posts:
notanicepersonapparently · 08/05/2023 21:13

I do enjoy a good warrior 2 @Sooverthemill.
I’m working my way through Home and enjoying it so far. Plenty of planks but I still don’t think my biceps would stand comparison with Penny Maudent’s.

midgemadgemodge · 08/05/2023 21:14

Doing 60 days of true ( because every day just never works !) but very much enjoying it

Jumbojem · 09/05/2023 08:45

Hello, still going but only doing yoga on work days, so with the bank holidays I've slowed up even more than usual! Did Day 24 of OG 30 days series today. Great hip opener, especially good for me as I'm doing a half marathon this weekend so need all the "runners" stretches I can get.
Not sure what I'll move on to once I've finished this one but will need to give it some thought soon!

Sooverthemill · 09/05/2023 08:49

Day 23 of Kassandra. Beginning to think about which series to do next. My legs need toning!

OP posts:
OopNorfDahnSarf · 09/05/2023 17:39

Center Day 17. Concentrated on the shoulders. I enjoyed it.

ScottishBeth · 10/05/2023 20:04

I haven't posted in a while but have been keeping up with daily yoga. I've been busy and shattered though so have been doing shorter practices. Still looking for ones that will be strengthening (or at least strength maintaining). And occasionally have been doing yoga with my little girl. Sometimes she tries to copy, sometimes crawls around me and through, or demands to be picked up or tries to push my legs to a position more conducive to how she wants to play. Apparently people were talking about yoga and she got into a downward dog position, which is cute. She calls it 'goga'.

midgemadgemodge · 10/05/2023 20:57

Beth that sounds adorable

Sooverthemill · 11/05/2023 17:34

aww @ScottishBeth that's sweet
day something of kassandra ( my YouTube just tells me which day to do so I don't always notice. She had her dog and two cats! And it was a losessikn. Every day I think 'how does she know what I needed?' But actually I now think my body just needs daily yoga

OP posts:
UnaOfStormhold · 11/05/2023 20:19

Day 27 of Move tonight so nearly done. I can't decide whether to do it again, or switch to Centre or perhaps Home. Move is my favourite but I have done it a lot! What Kassandra or other series would people recommend? 20-25 min practices are my sweet spot, I'm not a huge fan of too much talk of energy, affirmations or visualisations and I like the predictability of a 30 day or similar challenge.

Good luck for your half @Jumbojem and I love the sound of "goga" @ScottishBeth !

Sooverthemill · 11/05/2023 21:26

Kassandra dies like her affirmations! But I don’t pay attention to them. In 2020? She did a morning series that was around 29 minutes as I recall

OP posts:
ScottishBeth · 12/05/2023 07:49

She is very cute doing goga with me! It isn't the same experience as doing it on my own, but I'm planning on buying her a baby yoga book when she's 2 and seeing if she'll get more into it.

I didn't do yoga till just before bed last night. I was going to look for a 15 minute bedtime practice, but then I saw that the next one of Home, day 28, was called Nourish and was 17 minutes, so I decided that would be perfect. The name was misleading! It was a fairly energetic practice. But I really enjoyed it!
