Anyone else excited for this? Ready to get going in the new year?

I got all excited when it was announced but just can't get the site to load. Had anyone else managed to get into it?

You can use padding - rolled up vlanket or blocks under your hip that's not on the floor.

Or do reclined pigeon, where you're on your back, one knee bent, the other with the ankle crossed the thigh by the knee. You lift the leg on the floor and push back the thigh of the crossed leg - you should be able to feel the same stretch without crying as in pigeon. (It might just have been me who used to cry, but some years on, I can do pigeon, so it's worth persevering.)

You can find images if you google "reclined pigeon pose".

Thank you blanket is a good idea - not a massive fan of reclined pigeon either! However doesn’t make me cry I’m pleased to say - just wince quite a lot!

Thank you for this! I will definitely do this next time there's a pigeon section rather than browsing MN instead!

I’m a day behind now as just managed a 5 min Sarah Beth last night to keep up my yoga streak.Did Align this morning but found it a bit uninspiring , felt like a plank practice with a bit of the same old same old warrior flow-1-2-reverse-extended side angle, etc.

Stickortwister · 12/01/2024 12:25

Just dropping in to say thank you massively for the pigeon pose advice. I think it might be due to my crap hips but I am way off doing anything like a proper pigeon pose and felt disheartened after today
On the other hand I love a plank and going against the grain I loved day 10.

My yoga teacher once showed us x-rays of different skeletons to show that some of us are simply never going to manage certain poses in their fullest expression, because we couldn't do e.g. really wide-legged poses without breaking the top of a joint off. I found that helpful in accepting some of the things I can't do. Admittedly my challenges are mostly things like how deeply I can do forward folds with a lot of stomach rather than my actual skeleton, but it did make something click in me that we are all different.

HappyNewYears · 12/01/2024 13:44

@EBearhug totally and also we have to accept that one day we might find a pose easy and then it’s hard the next. We don’t need an explanation we need to learn to accept where our body is today.
I enjoyed today, relatively easy and relaxed though I can’t go very far forward when seated with legs apart. Wierdly I can do pigeon but I do tend to do some hip stretches everyday as I know I have one hip much tighter then the other.

narniabusiness · 12/01/2024 13:49

@EBearhug Thats really good to know. I simply can’t do wide legged poses at all whereas I know I can rotate my hips in the other direction very easily.

Buttalapasta · 12/01/2024 14:55

So true that we are all different. Adriene always seems to warn that squat is hard for most people- it is one of the few poses I can comfortably do without drastic modifications!

Weepingwillows12 · 12/01/2024 18:57

That's really interesting as I can't do the wide leg fold at all and it annoys me but I can bend really far in to the cross legged ones. I don't really get why one is fine and not the other but just going to start trying more of the wide legged ones to see if it helps. Enjoyed yesterday and today. I feel like I could be doing slightly longer videos at the moment.

UnaOfStormhold · 12/01/2024 20:27

I can do squats easily but wide legged poses are not good and my right hip doesn't sink as low in cobbler-type poses as my left. I have tight hamstrings but a flexible upper back that used to let me get my head to knees in standing forward fold until I read that wasn't a good move for people with osteopenia.

mynameiscalypso · 12/01/2024 20:35

I think I tweaked something in my back this morning doing the seated folds. Worried that tomorrow will be a bit more intense after a slow session today.

28bubble · 12/01/2024 20:54

Eek I find all the folds really difficult. My body just doesn't go there. I also have very tight hamstrings so the wide legged fold was a real toughie.

functioningadult · 12/01/2024 21:36

I really didn't want to get on the mat today but I did and it was ok. I've never managed to get past Day 10 before so I'm proud of myself

GettingFree · 12/01/2024 21:44

I also enjoyed day ten, and enjoying the different style of sessions although I agree the vinyasa flows could get a bit more varied at this point.

DCINightingale · 12/01/2024 22:05

Kind of checked out of day 10. That wide legged fold I find impossible, and struggled to think of an alternative so I ended up losing concentration. I kept going with the rest but that's the first pose I just had to totally abandon ship on.

Sooverthemill · 12/01/2024 23:00

Forgot to post earlier, loved this , it’s a lovely series.

Sooverthemill · 12/01/2024 23:04

And I like the slow progression from repeating so many if the poses day in day. It allows me to perfect them ( well as much as I can). It does remind me of a few years ago ( home?)

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 12/01/2024 23:25

Ahhhh day 11 I really liked that one. I think I will come back to it regularly, especially after a run.

inomniaparatis · 13/01/2024 06:52

I've fallen a bit behind since going back to work this week. Caught up with day 9 last night and hoping to catch up properly over the next couple of days. Thank you to the pp above who posted tips for pigeon - it's my least favourite pose so I'll be looking back at those tips before practicing!

CeeCeeDeeBee · 13/01/2024 08:02

I did day 11 super early yesterday, and enjoyed it very much. I love anything stretchy and on the ground, though I also love anything twisty so I hope we get more of those soon. @Sooverthemill it reminds me of Home, too!

mynameiscalypso · 13/01/2024 12:09

Day 12 in the bag. I half loved this and half got a bit bored; definitely preferred the second half to the first where I was clock watching a bit. Lovely stretch for my hips and back though as well as my tired legs (did a bit too enthusiastic a HIIT workout yesterday and feeling it today)

afaloren · 13/01/2024 13:13

I liked Day 12. I was hustling to keep up during the vinyasas (I am not very strong so getting up and down takes me a minute) but it also had some nice stretches and moments of stillness.

CeeCeeDeeBee · 13/01/2024 17:12

Totally agree with @mynameiscalypso about today's session. The repetition is all well and good but it does get a bit dull! I liked the second half of day 12 much better.

functioningadult · 13/01/2024 19:00

Agree today was a bit dull. I hate forward folds as I have boobs and a belly which get in the way a bit. I stuck with it though
