Hello everyone. This is the April thread for those of us attempting a daily Adrienne practice. All welcome. Center, Move, true, even Kassandra we love them all!

I just did a 5 min bedtime Adriene yesterday. My neck is still stiff and sore, leaving off a full, practice seems to have helped tho.

Sooverthemill · 11/04/2023 07:40

So I have just dine day 1 of kassandra's new 30 day challenge which is 10 minute morning yoga ? It was perfect for me as I am so stiff and crunchy after so long after the mat. I especially loved cat and cow on the forearms which I don't think I've ever done before!

@best I wonder if that's what we all had? Though extended family tested positive we didn't and oh my gosh the cough!

What time if day is best for starting out with yoga?

Is 10 minutes a day enough to make any difference?

It is, definitely. If you are consistent and do the poses carefully it can. And then work your way up to a little longer of you can. Whenever I've been off the mat through illness I've done 10 minute ones to get me back.

Day 11 of Home today which brings me to 100 days of consecutive yoga! Woo-hoo!! I think @ScottishBeth and somebody else too?? Sorry can't remember who is doing what and I think we all deserve a pat on the back for getting on the mat whether it's every day or not. I would love to say I managed to do today's crow in celebration but that's a long way off still...maybe day 1000? 😂

ScottishBeth · 11/04/2023 20:54

@Buttalapasta congratulations! I actually missed a day a couple of weeks ago, so am on day 12 - much less impressive!

I did day 11 too, but I'm sorry to say I actually skipped the crow bit. I had been for a run just before, and all the standing stuff we'd done had made my feet sore in the squat, so I just gave myself a foot rub instead! I enjoyed the rest of the practice though!

Also, I think airplane arms is my favourite way to do halfway lift.

ScottishBeth · 11/04/2023 20:57

@wildswimm 10 minutes a day is definitely enough! She has a wide range of very short practices so you can still get a whole range of benefits!

@Sooverthemill glad you made it back! And enjoyed the practice!

Yogachick · 12/04/2023 10:20

Definitely off here till I’ve got all clear. I’m the only one who didn’t think that’s glaringly obvious 😂keep going y’all I will read and be inspired x

BestIsWest · 12/04/2023 10:25

@Sooverthemill could well be. We tested negative but my god it’s lingering. I’m at the point where I think I might be over it but by about 4pm each day I ferl dreadful and the cough and sinuses are just not clearing.

OopNorfDahnSarf · 12/04/2023 11:14

Morning all. Hope the aches and pains and infections go away soon. I took a break over Easter and just randomly picked Center Day 11 today. I remember liking it last month. Lots of twists.

Sooverthemill · 12/04/2023 22:17

Day 2 of Kassandra today. Perfect

What's Kassandra / her yoga like compared to Adrienne ?

Sooverthemill · 13/04/2023 09:04

Day 3 Kassandra. This was really nice wasn’t stated it was Yin but long holds on poses

What's Kassandra / her yoga like compared to Adrienne ?

I like her. She’s quite different in her style but very accessible. She has cats not dogs ( she fosters for a rescue) and is Canadian so there’s lots of snow. I like her series she doesn’t do anything amazing but very calm

Had a very low energy day due to cold and lack of sleep I tried out the Kassandra 10 mins that @Sooverthemill linked above. It was just the ticket.

Sooverthemill · 13/04/2023 19:15

Glad you
liked it!

Day 9 of home done. Wasn't really in the mood today but glad I did it.

Jumbojem · 13/04/2023 21:18

Sorry to hear so many of you have been suffering.
I had a few days off over Easter and did day 10 of the original YWA series today. It was a very short variation on sun salutation but unless I'm mistaken it was all on the right leg. I switched and did a few on the left leg when I realised the practice was two thirds of the way through.
Despite all the yoga struggled to get my foot into the sink earlier after I'd stood on the lid of a tin of paint so needed to wash. I've also seen someone on Instagram in their late 50s doing some mobility movements, such as standing up from sitting on the floor using no hands, and the reverse. I gave them a try and am miles from being able to do these moves. Feel like I have a long journey to become more flexible ahead before its too late!

Buttalapasta · 14/04/2023 06:37

@Jumbojem My lack of mobility was what inspired me to start yoga and I think it's helping. I also read that a good tip is to always sit on the floor to put your shoes on! I did this for a while but I got lazy! My joints are really painful, especially in the morning though. 😫

BestIsWest · 14/04/2023 17:37

First attempt to get back on the mat after almost 4 weeks. I started Move day 1 but switched to doing some balances about half way through as the down dogs were playing havoc with my sinuses. I managed 18 minutes. It’s a start.

midgemadgemodge · 14/04/2023 18:16

That's finding what feels good best !

UnaOfStormhold · 14/04/2023 18:17

Well it's been a while but I have got 5 consecutive days of move under my belt and am wondering why I ever stopped - I am sleeping so much better for it. Impressed by people getting to 100 days and hoping the poorly are feeling better soon.

ScottishBeth · 15/04/2023 09:14

@BestIsWest and @UnaOfStormhold well done! It can be hard to come back.

I cannot stand up from the floor without using my hands. Loads of things say you should be able to do it, but don't explain how to train it. It's not very helpful!

I missed a day on Thursday - I just had so much on, including going out in the evening, so I didn't manage to fit it in. Then yesterday I did 2 sessions to catch up, in addition to going for a run. I was shattered and think I overdid it a bit, to be honest. I felt a bit crappy the whole rest of the day (was pre-menstrual as well, but thankfully my period has arrived now). It's a shame though, I think on a different day I would have really enjoyed both practices (Home days 13 and 14).

Have had a good sleep though, so am ready to go today!

OopNorfDahnSarf · 15/04/2023 10:27

Google or Mumsnet ate my comment. Day 6 Move. Too intense. I have lost fitness but I will keep going. Namaste.

notanicepersonapparently · 15/04/2023 10:34

Re standing up without using your hands. I take it you are talking about from a cross legged seat and the ankles remain crossed over once you are stood up? I have always wanted to be able to do this and my son can easily.
