Hello everyone. This is the April thread for those of us attempting a daily Adrienne practice. All welcome. Center, Move, true, even Kassandra we love them all!

For those of you that do yoga regularly what benefits have you found from it? I’d love to make it a regular habit that I stick to.

It's helped my backache and my noodly arms are slightly stronger.

BestIsWest · 01/04/2023 16:33

Just marking my place. Thanks for the new thread. I’m still struggling with the most horrendous cough/cold combo - 9 days now and still coughing up stuff and deaf as a post so I won’t be joining in yet but determined to get back on the mat soon.

BestIsWest · 01/04/2023 16:40

@SunUpSunDown I’m also hypermobile and didn’t realise until I was about 53 when I fractured my wrist and subsequently had physiotherapy- the physiotherapist picked it up when she noticed that even with the stiffness caused by the fracture, my wrist was still extremely flexible. It explained lots of things like the ease with which my ankles turn over. I try not to over stretch my joints and concentrate on strength - I find Warrior poses quite bad for my hips and knees in that respect (though I do love them).

Hi there. I would love to join. Recently diagnosed with degenerative discs in upper back so suffering from back and shoulder pain.
Had a 1:1 session with a great yoga teacher yesterday and going to start regular session soon but need to start short sessions at home.

@BestIsWest It's a bit like a light bulb moment isn't it?! Yes, I also struggle with Warrior poses. Less from a hip perspective, but I can tell my knees aren't terribly happy unless I manage to nail the angle, etc.

Benefits I’ve noticed are reduced levels of anxiety and kinder inner voice. Upper arms were starting to get saggy and it’s reversed that. I may now have some stomach muscles hiding away there too. 😄

notanicepersonapparently · 01/04/2023 17:15

Another one - I can stand up from a crouching position (getting something out of a low cupboard) without my thighs hurting.

Yogachick · 01/04/2023 18:15

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction @ScottishBeth and for the new thread @Sooverthemill . I concur re 30 days from building progression but I would say from Revolution,I definitely felt I got stronger through that one. I’m doing the new Nourish on the membership. Only 7 days so I’m hoping I will have the achievement of actually completing something! Yesterday and today so far,but they’re new and interesting and just magical practices

I seem much less fragile. So I feel I can fling a leg over a gate without fear of something bad happening. I’m now 47 and I feel sore bits coming on, do some yoga and then I’m ok. I think without the yoga I’d be very sore.

Day 1 of Home. Like others have said on day 1 there's always a lot of time spent in certain shapes. I actually loved the forward folds today though. When I came to standing I felt amazing. But the DD was hard! Don't know if it was because Ive not done any for a few days because of my tattoo.

@C1239 I've been doing yoga regularly since mid-October. I am stronger, particularly in my core, and more flexible. Also I always thought I was just under 5'3.5 But I measured myself and I was definitely 5'4. It's possible I had measured myself wrong before. But I like to believe my posture has improved and I've gained half an inch!

Loveandhappiness · 02/04/2023 09:27

Just began my (hopefully!) daily practice. I tried MOVE with Adrienne and it was lovely. Actually a little challenging in places which surprised me as I do yoga once a week which goes to show, it’s good to mix up your practice a bit! Anyway, I think it’s brilliant that we can access online for free and it was a lovely way to start the day!

HellonHeels · 02/04/2023 10:03

Hi everyone thanks for the new thread @Sooverthemill and thank you to everyone on these threads, too. I have practised every day this year (unheard of!) and feel so much better for it.

I've gained loads of weight since a massive upheaval in my life in 2020-21 and became sedentary after moving from a city where I walked a lot to a small town where I drive much more. Combined with menopause, I felt stiff, immobile, struggled with stairs and going for a walk. After 3 months' daily yoga Im still fat and unfit but much more flexible, better range of movement, and feel better in general. I think it's helped my mood a lot.

I just finished Center again, tried a Kassandra beginner session last night. It's hard to choose sessions. Has anyone done one of her 30 day series?

Jumbojem · 02/04/2023 11:05

I did Day 1 of the original YWA 30 days. It was lovely, much slower pace than the more recent ones which maybe explains why it came in at over 30 mins. Although looking ahead one of the days is only 10 mins - sun salutations which I haven't done in years.
Her delivery was a bit quiet/quick than now so I guess she's got a bit more polished over the years. Some of the sayings she had back then though she still says now.
I def notice when I don't keep yoga up, it keeps me flexible and calms my brain from over thinking. I also think it's helping to keep running injuries at bay.

ScottishBeth · 02/04/2023 14:28

@Jumbojem yes, I'm hoping my regular yoga practice will help me avoid running injuries this time round.

Home Day 2 today. Another nice one. I'm continuing to practise stepping from DD to lunge. I can't quite get my foot far enough, but considerably better than I have been.

Sooverthemill · 02/04/2023 18:03

No yoga today. Big excuse . But if I want to make it to 70 I need to get back to daily yoga!

Happy birthday to you!!!

Yogachick · 02/04/2023 19:11

Happy big birthday @Sooverthemill !
Nourish Day 3 for me. I’m rubbish at descriptions but I’ll say magical again and very different. I’m so so chill now☺️

Rummikub · 02/04/2023 19:52

Happy birthday to you soover!

notanicepersonapparently · 02/04/2023 20:53

Many Happy Returns. Looks yummy.

BestIsWest · 02/04/2023 21:42

Happy birthday @Sooverthemill !

getagriplove · 02/04/2023 21:56

Great to find this thread! I'm working towards daily yoga (with Adrienne) as part of a fitness regime. Have managed about one day in three and am doing Centre. The half an hour practice is great for me.

hoochycrone · 03/04/2023 12:15

Welcome to newbies 🥰

Hope you had a well deserved lovely day yesterday soover 🌻

Day 3 of Home.

Am finding it hard going at the moment due to a bit of lurgy. Almost didn't do it yesterday but realised I would be breaking a 91 day run 😮

It really is excellent. I'm still the same flobby shape but I do feel more bendy ☺️

getagriplove · 03/04/2023 15:59

Day 5 today. I've been at the gym too recently, and I found I could lower myself from plank for first time in years. Really chuffed!

freckles20 · 03/04/2023 18:34

Happy birthday for yesterday @Sooverthemill.

I've done day zero and day one of Center. I had never done an online yoga session before yesterday and was blown away by Adriene's sessions.

There's a huge amount of room for improvement but I really enjoyed it, and my mind felt more still and considered afterwards.

I found the lunge tricky, my legs ended up way too close together but most tricky of all for me was adopting a seated position with crossed legs Blush. I assumed it was ok not to cross my legs very far, but I can barely cross them at all and it feels pretty uncomfortable which means it is quite hard to focus on anything else.

Hopefully it will become easier as time goes on. I hadn't realised how inflexible I had become!

I hope everyone is enjoying their April practise so far.

OopNorfDahnSarf · 03/04/2023 18:36

Day 2 Move. Enjoyed it at the time but cannot remember the detail now. Glad I did yoga because I knew today would be stressful.
