Yay! It's day 0 and the video is up ( at 6.03 for me). Let's do this! What a lovely gentle way to start. See you all tomorrow when we actually do a little bit of yoga.

Ahh...pyramid pose...my quads gave out half way through on both sides!! That was a tough one and made me realise how unfit I've got.

Thatsasmashingblouseyouvegoton · 04/01/2023 09:45

I tired blocks today
Not sure I'm using them correctly though!
I felt quite Shaky for some of it

Brontosaurus · 04/01/2023 10:32

Day three done.

I like the plank and ddog poses but lunges are hard (wedging my front leg between chest and arm is awkward - that's where my boobs want to be!) and I found that one legged bit impossible. She kept saying it was fine if you couldn't raise your back leg very high off the ground - I could do that bit ok but the knee of the leg I was standing on was really hurting so had to stop.

OopNorfDahnSarf · 04/01/2023 10:45

Day 3 - Shift. I found that much harder than the previous days. Triangle is difficult for me.
I am enjoying the new poses that I haven't done before and looking forward to the strength and flexibility that should develop in me after a month of yoga.

OopNorfDahnSarf · 04/01/2023 10:46

Thanks @Sooverthemill for setting up the thread and linking us to YWA.

Day 3 done, straight after doing a Barre Peloton class which focused on hips and glutes. OMG, could barely bend at all in pyramid and standing splits, which I normally find ok. Bridge at the end was welcome relief. My glutes are now quivering in shock 😂. I've got my normal yoga class tonight, then normal routine sets in tomorrow. In an ideal world I'd get up at 6 to do this, but that seems HIGHLY unlikely. We have to get up at 6:30 anyway to get ready for school, and that's hard enough....We'll see.

namechange5575 · 04/01/2023 11:00

Day 2 felt a bit too simple and gentle... Day 3 did not! I was pleased to have a bit more challenge though. I was planning a run afterwards but it didn't feel like a good idea, so just ran with the kids to school for 4 mins or so - we were late. I'm loosely trying a 'Run Every Day' thing in January alongside YWA, I was running a fair bit last year and really rated it for mood. Very much out of the habit now though.

I've started on Testosterone for peri-menopausal issues and loving it, I'm keen to add in some lifting or resistance or body weight exercises. I've heard PPs mention Caroline Girvan - any other YouTube recommendations? Kassandra? Thanks.

I do my practice before bed and judging by todays comments it looks day 3 is going to be TOUGH. I’m a bit concerned about how I’m going to fit everything in tonight. There’s a train strike so I get home at 7:30. Then I have a zoom class thing from 8-9:45. Somehow I need to fit in dinner and yoga and not go to bed ridiculously late.

Plantmoretrees86 · 04/01/2023 12:01

Just found this thread, nice to chat to you all! Have done bits of yoga for the last few years but first time doing the 30days. All my muscles feel really achy today - anyone else?! Not sure if it's normal or if it's because its my first proper exercise (other than walks) since I had a baby six months ago. Also had covid over Christmas so possibly residual aches from that. Wondering whether I'll manage the 30 days without a break

newmumtotwo24 · 04/01/2023 12:45

Day three was definitely tougher. Had to break it up as my thighs were killing me! Not really feeling like it's flowing like it should as I keep having to look at the tv to know what I'm supposed to be doing but hoping that will come in time as I learn the poses/lingo and can feel more confident in my movements

Gufo · 04/01/2023 13:06

My thighs! That's day 3 done! I feel good now but my legs are a bit wobbly. Good lesson in where I need to focus/get strong.

llynnnn · 04/01/2023 13:29

HI can I join you? I've loved Adriene's challenges over the past few years, but I rarely last the whole month! Really going to try this time as I know it makes me feel so much better and stronger too. My daughter (16) has joined me for all 3 days so far which has been great and motivating as I know it'll be so beneficial for her too.

Today was pretty tough, my legs were shaking and can still feel it now. Will keep at it though :)

Fandangles · 04/01/2023 14:20

Didn’t manage to haul out of bed before school rush so just completed it. Challenging one today, I agree! I did a kettlebell workout 5 days ago that my legs are only just recovering from, so def found it harder today.

One thing I’ve noticed is how hard I have to try to be kind to myself when she invites us to put a hand on my stomach. I have to firmly remind myself I’m doing the best I can rather than focus on my less than perfect stomach!!

I could feel it done a workout last night! My poor legs.

Today was hard, couldn't do the full pyramid but (had to take a break) but still pleased to be returning to yoga

CeeCeeDeeBee · 04/01/2023 15:10

@Gufo the thing is, you're probably right, it's just frustrating if that's actually the reason!

CeeCeeDeeBee · 04/01/2023 15:45

Just did day 3. Had been spinning this morning so was already tired. Found standing split hard on my left leg, but otherwise felt fairly strong, pleasantly surprised!

Now for a lie down... (I wish... gotta go pick up DC!)

Sooverthemill · 04/01/2023 16:04

@llynnnn all are welcome! Last year we kept going for months. It really helps motivate me. Today was a bit tough but I know it’s doing me good

Day 3 done. That standing on one leg was tough - the blocks came in handy!

OopNorfDahnSarf · 04/01/2023 17:07

You can take breaks and redo days. So I may not finish until mid Feb because yoga doesn't fit with my schedule every day. Don't think that you have failed if you don't complete everyday by 31st Jan.

Last year I started in March or May and kept going for a few months. It was fun redoing the course and seeing the changes and noting improvements. This year I have started in Jan so I am ahead of the game.

Keep turning up to the mat!

Chimna · 04/01/2023 17:13

Day 3 completed. I feel pretty rough today but completed it and feel better for it.

BigHeartyTruffle · 04/01/2023 17:16

im joining the thread! I really want to stick with this for the full 30 days and hoping posting on here adds some accountability. I’m a day behind and I really enjoy reading all your comments after I finish - I feel like it helps me reflect on my own practise.

I did a 200 hour yoga teacher training from September 2019 to September 2021. The intensity of it actually put me off yoga and I ended up not really practising for over a year. This year I really want to come back to it, when I did day 1 I could really feel how much I’d lost in strength and flexibility. By day 2 I already found it a little easier and I’m looking forward to seeing how I fare with the more intense day 3 practice tomorrow!

AceofPentacles · 04/01/2023 18:11

I haven't been able to do today's as woke up with a very painful shoulder and the first part involved a shoulder lean so I shall skip today and perhaps do it at the weekend and return for day 4 tomorrow.

vestanesta · 04/01/2023 18:19

Hello all. Another who usually tries the January programme but doesn't quite get to the end. Last year I got Covid on the 27th and was wiped out for a month!

I haven't done much physical activity for months with only a very occasional short practice so very very rusty and I wasn't great to begin with.

Am doing this year with my teen who plays loads of football. She's not very flexible though so I am amused by what she is finding tough. She did all the dd to planks with ease whilst I was half planking but cannot forward fold to save her life!

We both found today difficult (me more than her). My left leg especially was very tired but I carry a chronic knee injury so I think am out of kilter. But we did it!

PositiveLife · 04/01/2023 18:33

Got up early this morning to do day 3. It was so, so hard today. I adapted a lot of it and went in and out of poses as I needed to. I've got hip problems generally but I have also done something to my left hip just before Xmas and today's just seemed to be too much for it. Dd1 got my blocks midway through to help a bit. I went into it with the mindset that some is better than none.

Isthisjustnormal · 04/01/2023 18:55

Day 3 was definitely harder but the time went so fast: didn’t feel like half an hour at all!
