Yay! It's day 0 and the video is up ( at 6.03 for me). Let's do this! What a lovely gentle way to start. See you all tomorrow when we actually do a little bit of yoga.

How 'beginner-friendly' is the challenge?

Really keen to get into a yoga habit but I'm a complete novice.

namechange5575 · 01/01/2023 13:09

Thought we'd be doing some movement today. I remember getting very confused about trying to stick to dates last year. Still, it's done!
My affirmations were: because I want to be stronger, because I want to show myself I can stick to something for 30 days.

Very. Have a look at the intro video but it's actually a great introduction to yoga for beginners

DancingSober · 01/01/2023 13:22

No yoga today, which is ok with me to be honest! Although I am looking forward to starting tomorrow. I am shorter on time today.

My affirmation was ...I want to find peace

Gufo · 01/01/2023 13:28

Day 0 video watched - my affirmation was "because I am lucky to be able to do so".

I also did a 20-minute hip flow from her channel to start things off. Excited!

UnaOfStormhold · 01/01/2023 13:42

I made the mistake of trying to fit the video into the middle of an ordinary day so kept getting interrupted by my son wanting lego help. Not ideal. I normally do the sessions before bed to avoid this problem! Anyway, glad to be starting.

ScottishBeth · 01/01/2023 13:48

Very beginner friendly. There might be some things that you'll find a challenge, but you can modify however you want, or rest in child's pose (I imagine there will be some child's pose on day 1 so everyone knows how to do it).

Sooverthemill · 01/01/2023 13:58

I've done every one of her 30 day challenges and they are definitely beginner friendly with modifications that intermediate people can do ( eg raise your knee off the floor if you want more fire in a lunge). I consider myself intermediate and started as a beginner with a 30 day challenge (her first) 8 years ago. Please don't be put off, you can take breaks

Mine was because yoga is god for me. First thing that popped into my head so figured best to go with it!

Brontosaurus · 01/01/2023 14:25

I'd like to join you all please.

I didn't know what my affirmation was at first, but on reflection I think it's "...because I'm choosing growth."

GOOD for me not god!

Hello everyone and thanks for the thread @Sooverthemill
I am so ready for this - cannot wait to get back in the zone!
Last year I made it do September before DD starting secondary school messed with my routine so badly that it ground to a halt.
Am out for lunch now but will get to the
Video later.

Good luck all - YWA was one of my favourite things in 2022!

NotAnotherTaco · 01/01/2023 15:04

Thanks for the reassurance, looking forward to it!

BalancingStick · 01/01/2023 15:59

I did last year and signed up again this year - I love starting the year doing something good for me

notanicepersonapparently · 01/01/2023 16:27

My affirmation is I want to be healthy in my body and calm in my mind. I started doing Move in mid January last year to alleviate back pain. My day to day activity had slowed down over lock down, despite the daily walk, and I was finding it harder to stand up from a squat. Also my upper arms were getting flabby. I stuck with a daily practice except for when I had Covid or I was away. I feel so much better and I’m looking forward to Center.

jamaisjedors · 01/01/2023 17:14

Hi, just joining the thread if that's OK.

Looking forward to starting, I just redid "Move" from last year and am hoping to stick to every day this year although usually it takes me to mid-February to finish despite my best intentions.

What helps me is to get my mat out the night before and then i find I'm likelier to stick to it. I also have comfy pyjamas which double as yoga wear so can roll out of bed and get started.

Any idea what time the videos are live this year?

hoochyhag · 01/01/2023 17:37

I don't know, I picked up that day 0 email at about 6ish so I think they're quite early.
Good idea about the yoga mat.

JenniferBarkley · 01/01/2023 17:52

Tentatively poking my head around the door. I need to do something and need a general kick up the arse in lots of ways. A bit of daily yoga might be just the thing. I did a little during maternity leave two years ago but I'm basically a beginner. Two small children and a full-time job it's hard to find time but I need to make the effort.

Need to link a new TV to the internet so doing that and day 0 might be a good start tonight.

InvisibleDragon · 01/01/2023 17:55

Yes, checking in although I'm currently in bed with a fever. I did last year's challenge on repeat from 4-9 months pregnant, then my yoga practice fell off a cliff when the baby was born. Hoping to use this to get back into it again because I miss it!

Bobbinsbop · 01/01/2023 17:59

I’m joining in this year. Had a very busy day so going to watch the day 0 shortly.

complete yoga beginner, I did some Pilates before lockdown but never rejoined.

ScottishBeth · 01/01/2023 18:12

@jamaisjedors I think she said in the email that the videos are going out a midnight Texas time. No idea of the time difference but I think that's pretty early!

Sooverthemill · 01/01/2023 19:18

Midnight Texas time is 6 am in the UK so our videos drop at 6

I watched day 0 video and so motivated to do this with you all. Even though I had a huge dinner I did a quick 10 minute yoga session this evening from YouTube and I forgot how good it feels afterwards.
My affirmation is 'to commit to taking care of my health'

museumum · 01/01/2023 19:35

Looking forward to this - what immediately came to mind is “because I’m worth it” but thanks to stupid L’Oréal I had to change it to “because I deserve it”.

BalancingStick · 01/01/2023 20:20

... because I need something centring, calming and balancing in my life right now.
