Yay! It's day 0 and the video is up ( at 6.03 for me). Let's do this! What a lovely gentle way to start. See you all tomorrow when we actually do a little bit of yoga.

Day 19 done!

happytobemrsg · 20/01/2023 20:45

Thank you @BestIsWest ! I’d love you be able to do a Move practice followed by Centre on the same night. Maybe not everyday because of time constraints.

daisychain01 · 20/01/2023 21:05

I enjoyed Day 19, and I also did a Yoga for Back Pain (well for me it's more maintenance and prevention.)

yesterdays Day 18 was also very enjoyable with the drishti practice.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 20/01/2023 22:34

Day 19 done. Should have done it early evening instead of after dinner- even though I left it a couple of hours there were a couple of times I was regretting it.

Got from down dog to lunge again, hurrah!

happytobemrsg · 20/01/2023 23:34

Did today’s practice too late & I found it really hard. I’ve also got a cold coming on so I found it tiring. Will make a point of starting tomorrow’s practice earlier

ScottishBeth · 21/01/2023 07:27

I have been so busy things have been total chaos here! I have managed to do my yoga every day, but it's been a squeeze. Thankfully things will be easing off today. So I'll do it properly with the oil diffuser on and everything.

I agree this year is slower than Move, however I'm loving it. All the mindfulness stuff is something that helped me so much in the past, and I find it really good for my mental health. Plus I am focusing more on my form in plank, warrior 2, down dog, so I think I probably am strengthening there. I understand all those cues a lot better after regular yoga that I've been doing since October.

I LOVED the goddess pose stuff the other day. Also the gaze one was so challenging, and I'm going to implement that into my future practice.

Sooverthemill · 21/01/2023 10:27

Today was surprisingly stretchy given the title! Aided as ever by small cat sitting on my tummy throughout.

Day 20 done. So gentle, stretchy and brief. The shortness of the sessions mean they are sustainable.

Thanks for the link to the calendars @BestIsWest

I feel better, am sleeping better too.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 21/01/2023 11:57

Day 20 done. Just what I needed as a post-parkrun stretch. One to come back to in future.

newmumtotwo24 · 21/01/2023 11:59

Managed to squeeze in most of todays this morning. Just the last two mins I didn't do which I think was just lying relaxing anyway. I'm away so I'm going to take it as a win because I didn't know when I'd be able to get it in

Day 20 done. Just what I needed as a post-parkrun stretch. One to come back to in future.

I also used Day 20 for a post-park run stretch - inspired by the comment upthread about it being gentle and stretchy! It defrosted me nicely!

I missed Day 19 but otherwise have kept up with the plan.

Had some unexpected time to myself this afternoon so just done a double - I did d21 of Move (Connect - ouch for the abs) followed by today's d20 of Center. I was going to do d20 of both but she obviously has 'themes' in her mind for each day of a 30d challenge and I didn't fancy Ritual (from Move) followed by today's - they looked a bit same-y.

Anyway, I enjoyed the pairing. Occurred to me that as Connect is a short one (only 12mins, really flies by) I could maybe do that every day (?!) followed by the appropriate Center. This will probably never happen, but it's an option - I'd probably have great abs by the end of that month!

Happy Saturday everyone

froginawell · 21/01/2023 18:12

Good idea @Prestissimo !

I did the same, and it was exactly what I needed.

But I may curse you if my abs hurt too much tomorrow!

Prestissimo · 21/01/2023 18:21

Great @froginawell , although I may join you in cursing me if tomorrow's Center is also abs-heavy Grin

EmmaStone · 21/01/2023 21:05

Am playing catch up again, did 17 & 18 back to back. Quite slow, but enjoyed the goddess poses and the eagle arm variations. Will try to do 19/20 & 21 tomorrow...

Chimna · 21/01/2023 21:53

Day 20 done. A nice chill at the end of the day.

VerbenaView · 21/01/2023 22:10

I've just finished Day 20, my headphones were playing up throughout so I'm glad it wasn't a flow day.

happytobemrsg · 21/01/2023 22:19

Gutted I can’t do today. My eldest is unwell & im staying in his room to keep an eye on him. I’ve also got a twinge in my back. Got a hot water bottle on it. Hoping to do a double session tomorrow so I don’t fall behind

Sooverthemill · 22/01/2023 06:37

Haven't done todays yet ( usually about 7 for me) but read the email when it came in ( incontinent elderly dog forces an early morning) and thought it was such a good sentiment. So for those who don't get the email here it is

"By now you may have noticed the ways in which some of the poses are starting to feel different.

There are days when your body is tired. Those days will exist and it is on those days we ask the mind to focus and be strong.
On other days you will notice poses that were once unstable and shall we say humbling - are now sturdier, engaged with a greater sense of ease. The body feels stronger.
The strength may also come from having the courage to know when to rest. This is when our emotional state takes priority and is considered.
It is important to remember that strength comes from showing up. Not from any one singular approach but from a commitment to cultivating a regular or daily practice of centering."

Oh and @Prestissimo you're right!

@Sooverthemill i just read the email from Adriene and thought it was very well observed from her, about keeping with it and how showing up each day really helps to make progress. Spot on.

I have to say, her teaching style has nicely matured over time, she is far more credible now and even her emails (presumably they are written by her and not a shadow writer), come across with more gravitas.

I enjoyed one of her original 30 Days of Yoga sessions yesterday before doing Day 20 (yesterday's session) as I enjoy around 45 mins rather than the 17-20 mins of her latest Center series, and her style back then was very different. I prefer her now.

That’s a good idea! Is the 12 min one from move?

Sooverthemill · 22/01/2023 08:51

@daisychain01 yes I agree. She took classes and had coaching on her delivery style a few years ago ( she shared this on the FWFG app) and it’s really paid off. I love the old videos though and even just her clothing and hair changes are fun to see!

i sometimes do the 12 hips and Core Video filmed in Guatemala adding it onto my sessions ( not recently though). It never seems tough to me though I know it is. Better for me that mat abs work it’s here (ignore that it says weight loss she explained in an interview that she had to had key words for the YouTube algorithm in the early days). It’s lovely

so today was tough but not too bad. I imagine I will feel it later. Can do side plank on left but not right, that’s a thing to work on!

OP posts:
melonraspberry · 22/01/2023 09:19

I missed yesterday so might do a double today. As yesterday’s was stretchy would it make sense to do today’s first then yesterday’s does anyone think?

hoochyhag · 22/01/2023 09:19

Oo thanks for that @Sooverthemill

Poor dog.

Yeah day 21 done.

So true about the main thing (and hardest) is just to turn up.

I found that tough today. Post breakfast, and I really felt those extra pounds Blush
