Yay! It's day 0 and the video is up ( at 6.03 for me). Let's do this! What a lovely gentle way to start. See you all tomorrow when we actually do a little bit of yoga.

Enjoyed todays session. Didn’t work up a sweat but nice to get back to downward dog & plank. Tree pose was fun. Check in half way through: I can feel my wrists getting stronger & if doesn’t hurt in my coccyx when I lie flat on my back now.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 16/01/2023 22:52

Day 15 done. I really enjoyed this one. I felt stronger and lighter in plank, and thanks to the tips from posters last week I almost managed to get my leg up and through from down dog to lunge by lifting my hand as my leg came through. The balance was easier too, again because I felt stronger in my legs.

Let’s see what tomorrow brings.

euromum · 17/01/2023 06:13

Oops, forgot to check in for a few days! But am keeping up and enjoying it. But definitely feeling ready for a bit more hard work - the slower and stretchy practices are great but I'd like a little more of a challenge. But then I will probably regret saying that very soon😂 @Gufo I have been surprised by how much I'm liking the balancing too - I actually managed and enjoyed tree pose the other day which was a first!

I get Adriene woo all the time too, basically every time she says "don't forget to breathe" or "unclench your toes" or almost every other reminder. I think she just really is a very good instructor, she knows what people are going to be stuck on and gently helps them over it.

euromum · 17/01/2023 06:18

@Sooverthemill @happytobemrsg I'm in for repeating the journey too! I've been wondering about alternating with Move and Breathe which I really enjoyed in the last couple of years. For some reason I've never really got on with the monthly curated calendars, I'm not sure why.

Prestissimo · 17/01/2023 06:35

Just checking in after a few days. Well done everyone who's still going.

I suspect Adriene will ramp it up soon and then we might be glad they're only 20 minutes 😂. Agree they fly by.

@VerbenaView I didn't think I was doing pigeon correctly either (I wasn't - rolling too far into my bent leg) but found a really old Adriene video where she talks you through it specifically. Would recommend if you're not sure you're right.

Buttalapasta · 17/01/2023 06:49

I'm finding this easier than Move. I wonder if there's a,reason this is a calmer, less energetic practice? 😉Of course, she might ramp it up now and I'll be eating my words! I would quite like to do a different 30 day challenge each month - how many of them are there now?

Sooverthemill · 17/01/2023 07:02

I have a theory about all of this including why she filmed it in September rather than December and why she's in a strange room. First, her mum has been really unwell ( she had a stroke in 2021) and she has been caring for her, she's admitted she had burnout from the pandemic pressures, and she's dropped to releasing just one new video a month ( used to be weekly). ( I think she may be pregnant fwiw). I think she filmed early to take the pressure off. It's specious to speculate I know but I think the pace of this one is deliberate to make us all slow down and smell the coffee. CENTER may not just be about our core ( though mines improving)

Buttalapasta · 17/01/2023 07:10

Yes, I agree. Fwiw I'm really enjoying Center. I did prefer last year's room though!

Yes, I think this is a great idea! I'm up for trying one of the other ones straight after, although I do like how easy to fit it in the shorter sessions are, a few longer ones would be great

euromum · 17/01/2023 07:42

@Sooverthemill I agree, I'd been thinking along similar lines myself. Hadn't suspected pregnancy yet would wouldn't be surprised 😊

@Buttalapasta @froginawell count me in for the 30 days journeys, I'm definitely up for that!

This is the 9th

Day 16 done, I skipped 15 as had overextended the stretchy day and was in pain. I'll return to 15 maybe for day 30 instead. Loving the warrior moves today.

hoochyhag · 17/01/2023 09:50

Day 16 lovely and gentle. This suits me at present being old and haggard Grin

It makes sense to me now why dipping in and out of her videos in a random manner didn't work. This is sequential and loads better.

Good tip about lifting up your hand to do plank/lunge will try this.

I do wish her well. I really appreciate her doing these videos. She has a great teaching style. I hope she continues.

Sooverthemill · 17/01/2023 10:09

@hoochyhag that's why I prefer to do the series rather than the monthly curated calendar. It's so much better building up

OP posts:
hoochyhag · 17/01/2023 10:17

@Sooverthemill Yep!
So far so good, can't believe I've kept it up. Good to do it together Flowers

Gufo · 17/01/2023 10:35

Yes, I thought pregnancy yesterday - something about how she was holding the (slight!) curve of her belly!

I think I will move on to Move next month. I'm enjoying Center and quite glad they are short and gentle, but feel I could do with a little more of a workout and an extra 5-10 minutes.

InvisibleDragon · 17/01/2023 14:30

Interesting theory on pregnancy - I think you could be right! I definitely find this series a lot more gentle and slow than last year.

@euromum my mum pays for the fwfg app membership and loves the monthly calendar. I tried it with just the YouTube content and found it bitty and unsatisfying. I think there are more new videos in the app, so that could be part of the issue, but I found the huge variation in length and style frustrating.

InvisibleDragon · 17/01/2023 14:31

Finally flying home today after 2.5 weeks with the in laws, I'm a couple of days behind but excited to be fitting YWA back into my normal routine again.

CirreltheSquirrel · 17/01/2023 15:05

I'm still up to date, I wasn't sure whether I'm finding it easier than previous attempts because I've been doing yoga more consistently in the run up to this one, but it sounds like it is a bit more gentle. Tbh that's good for me as it's meant to be something I do alongside my main sport, so relaxing/stretching etc is all good rather than feeling like I need vigorous flows.

I also worked something out earlier at my work yoga session - I'm far better at balancing when I also twist than when I'm looking ahead. I had a "good balance day" last week when there were twist balances, and the same again today. I just need to work out why! Maybe the twist forces me to think a bit more about how my body is positioned to balance properly?

CeeCeeDeeBee · 17/01/2023 15:39

I did day 15 yesterday but forgot to check in. My tree was... ok!

I am hoping today is a gentle one because I'm tiiiiired!

melonraspberry · 17/01/2023 19:40

I’m really enjoying this month but it is definitely easier. Maybe a good plan to alternate with Move I think?

I also thought she had pregnancy vibes, and I’m normally spot on !

froginawell · 17/01/2023 20:06

Hideous meeting that overran by 2 hours due to colleagues meltdown.

I'm not sure 'kind' was the right mood for me! But I guess I do feel a bit calmer...

ArabeI · 17/01/2023 20:33

Day 16 done.

It was very gentle today, I agree @hoochyhag

I was going to repeat Center next month, but now also thinking I might alternate with Move @melonraspberry

Chimna · 17/01/2023 21:07

Day 16 done! I enjoyed that. I'm not feeling great today so it was enough for me. Lots of poses we haven't done yet this month. I also like the idea of alternating with move.
