Yay! It's day 0 and the video is up ( at 6.03 for me). Let's do this! What a lovely gentle way to start. See you all tomorrow when we actually do a little bit of yoga.

@Sooverthemill hope you feel better soon.

Day 9 done. I really liked it, even though I wasn’t really feeling like it before I started.

Chimna · 10/01/2023 21:23

Day 9 done. I wasn't sure about today as I have a cold and had a terrible night's sleep but I didn't want to get behind now I've got this far. Struggled with humble warrior but feel so much better for doing the practice.

Rummikub · 10/01/2023 21:36

I did day 8 last night. I was fast asleep before the end!

Prestissimo · 10/01/2023 21:45

Day 9 done and enjoyed. I really felt strong doing my 'root to rise' today - I always find it amazing how concentrating on one part of your body makes it feel so different. Loved the effect on my upper back too.

Hope you feel well soon @Sooverthemill and @InvisibleDragon good luck with the sleep tonight - I clearly remember those days when four hours' sleep in a row was miraculous.

2fallsagain · 10/01/2023 21:57

Day 9 done. Really enjoyed it. I cannot get from downward dog without dropping my knee though. Any tips- there just does not seem the space!

Love all the warrior poses and feel my wrists and shoulders are stronger.

Well done everyone.

OopNorfDahnSarf · 10/01/2023 21:57

Day 8 - nice rest and lots of deep breathing

2fallsagain · 10/01/2023 21:58

And I'm impressed with those of you with non sleeping children!

happytobemrsg · 10/01/2023 22:18

Couldn’t get into today, I couldn’t switch off. Lots of stretching so I should have enjoyed it! Will need to try this one again.

ArabeI · 10/01/2023 22:32

Enjoyed day 9 but did it earlier than usual as I plan to double up and do the blanket day 8 before bed today, as left it too late to manage yesterday.

I enjoyed day 9 but was wearing the wrong wrong socks for warrior pose and kept slipping and no time to change as in a rush.

VerbenaView · 10/01/2023 22:47

Day 9, I didn't enjoy it. I'd been looking forward to doing it all day, but I was super tired, and just couldn't do the moves, my knees were protesting and aching. My socks also slipped in warrior @ArabeI. And my legs were shaky/wobbly. I was thankful the time went quickly.
Since I finished and showered, I am aching and creaking left right and centre.

Jumbojem · 10/01/2023 22:59

Another here who didn't enjoy puppy pose. It's one of those I'm never sure if I'm doing it right but because of the nature of the pose it's hard to look at the screen and double check.
Anyway aside from that I enjoyed today's practice!

daisychain01 · 11/01/2023 05:46

I hope the yogis on this thread suffering from colds and winter blurghhhs feel better from the healing powers of yoga (good for rebuilding immune strength even if it's a struggle breathing!) 😘

daisychain01 · 11/01/2023 05:54

Shannith · 10/01/2023 14:53

@ScottishBeth mine is a form of self defence Wink - tricky to stop half a ton of horse without a core muscle or two. Tricky for me either way! Actually one of them is Ok, the other one I could have a six pack and she wouldn't take a blind bit of difference.

I can't imagine not having good core stability for riding, gosh you'd be wobbling around all over the place (based on me frequently encountering horses and their riders when I'm out on my bike). I always think rider have such beautiful posture, straight but not rigid, nice shoulders down and back, the yogi ideal 👍)

daisychain01 · 11/01/2023 05:59

I've never been able to get along with yoga socks. I've got a pair with the individual toes and I don't find myself feeling stable on my mat for postures like we have done with Adriene so far - especially for the transitions between Humble Warrier and back up to Warrior 1/2 for example. I quite like the 'grounded' feel of the neoprene grippy mat on the soles of my feet, a bit like reflexology. Trouble is, my feet get cold - so I sneak some regular socks on for the seated or lying postures!

Isthisjustnormal · 11/01/2023 07:11

Day 9 done yesterday eve: enjoyed that one (although not sure if I’ve quite got puppy pose). I have some yoga socks but definitely prefer without socks as long as it’s warm enough!

ScottishBeth · 11/01/2023 08:25

@2fallsagain I think a lot of people struggle with that. I think the trick is to squeeze your knee right up before you step forwards. But I don't know, as I've never managed it! I think it's allowed to just get into your lunge however!

@daisychain01 @Shannith I'm going to look at all the riders when I'm out now!

namechange5575 · 11/01/2023 08:46

Done Day 10 - I liked it, a bit challenging but not too much, quite active and got my heart rate up at times. But good for those of us who are quite uncoordinated. Bit if work in the quads and abs. Quite varied.

Shannith · 11/01/2023 09:03

@daisychain01 @ScottishBeth look close enough and you'll notice half of them have a series of niggling/semi serious (hidden by painkillers) injuries caused by... could be core muscle failure... could be horses being dicks and running away from a leaf moving in the wrong direction! Latter most likely!'

Also @daisychain01 humble warrior is my worse pose. I can do it but it's just not comfortable no matter how many times I do it.

@ArabeI I cannot wear any socks (yoga or otherwise) for yoga. I seem to get a lot of my balance (loose term) from sort of spreading and moving my toes. I noticed when clambering precariously about taking Christmas lights down last week that I've got into the habit of taking my socks off mfor anything that involves me balancing! Pavlovian response probably and according to DD - weird.

Did 9 and 10 this morning and did not love them - because I was sore - proof that this sequence has moves I don't normally do.

I like her constant focus on centre in Theo's one though (no idea why I'm surprised by this). I'm finding it really useful to constantly engage my core because in my lazy arse world that seems like a better or at least big additional win to just doing core workouts.

I find that the moment she goes of my tried and tested moves I start forgetting to breathe properly again - which makes everything less flowing and more sort of getting into the right shape but without the real benefit.

If that makes any sense at all.

Sooverthemill · 11/01/2023 09:04

Thanks everyone, I think it’s just exhaustion after a period of I’ll health ( my own plus DD who has several chronic illnesses and is bed bound) and stress!

day 10 was good. Knocking on heavens door! But I confess the side planks were too hard for my shoulders. Nonetheless I can feel tiny improvements each day

OP posts:
Sooverthemill · 11/01/2023 09:05

Oh and puppy pose always makes me cough uncontrollably!

OP posts:
melonraspberry · 11/01/2023 09:06

Does anyone else have to skip knocking on heavens door because they end up feeling nauseous? I can’t do any of those type of moves, also rolling up and down the spine.

hoochyhag · 11/01/2023 09:33

Day 10 done Smile

Must admit I did collapse a few times on that side thing Blush

I may need yoga socks for my hands as I was sliding around my mat. Yoga gloves?Grin

I am feeling so much better though, just day to day stuff, feel more bendy, with less pain in my knees.

Love to all those feeling under the weather Flowers

hoochyhag · 11/01/2023 09:41

Sticky mats? Anyone have one?
Mine is just bog standard cheapie as I thought I wouldn't do yoga more than once or twice 😂

newmumtotwo24 · 11/01/2023 09:57

Loved today. Got my heart rate going and really energised me for the day. Cannot for the life of me throw my leg forward into lunge but ah well

I invested in a liforme mat almost 5 years ago. It was expensive but came highly recommended and I do love it. It's tatty now ( my cats also love it) and going to get a new one for my birthday in April
