Yay! It's day 0 and the video is up ( at 6.03 for me). Let's do this! What a lovely gentle way to start. See you all tomorrow when we actually do a little bit of yoga.

Sticky mats? Anyone have one?
Mine is just bog standard cheapie as I thought I wouldn't do yoga more than once or twice 😂

I also have a liforme and would highly recommend if you can make the investment but I bought my DS a Yoga Matters sticky mat when he was little and wanted to get involved and I must say it isn't bad for the price.

EmmaStone · 11/01/2023 11:15

Am a day behind here, just did Day 9. It's my day off but seeing PT and then my normal yoga class this evening, so will sleep well tonight!! Will try to catch up over the weekend...

Shannith · 11/01/2023 11:17

@melonraspberry I used to really dislike knocking on heavens door, but I've grown to like it - maybe a sign of a trapped nerve or something? I can't do the rocking up at the moment as there is a weakness in my lower back that I don't want to tweak.

AceofPentacles · 11/01/2023 11:40

Done day 10, with a lot of ungainly falling over!

BigHeartyTruffle · 11/01/2023 11:49

Just done day 9- my shoulder / armpit (can’t think how else to describe them!) muscles were still aching from day 7 so the heart opening stretches were really beneficial!

sticky mats - I got an amazing rubber ashtanga mat from decathlon, it was about £40, it’s a copy cat of the liforme and I actually think it’s just as good.

I also wouldn’t recommend doing yoga in socks, even yoga ones. If your feet slip in a pose like warrior 2 you can do yourself a serious injury, like pulled muscle or torn ligament.

Looking forward to day 10 although I don’t think I’ll manage it until tomorrow!

EmmaStone · 11/01/2023 12:08

Oh yes agree, no yoga in socks (except to put on if you're cold in savasana.

And I've got a bog standard Yoga Matters mat (as do most of my normal yoga class). It's served me well for years, although not as sticky as it once was. I mentioned this to my yoga teacher, and she said less stickiness would make my core work harder, so suck it up 😂

ArabeI · 11/01/2023 12:30

I rarely go barefoot, as the room I use is too cold. I do usually wear Pilates socks or even occasionally ballet shoes (if people have those) also good grip.

I'm still to fit in blanket day 8. I'll save it for a quiet day I think. Plan to do day 10 later this evening.

hoochyhag · 11/01/2023 13:35

Thanks for the recommendations, will check them out ☺️

euromum · 11/01/2023 14:06

Managed day 10 this morning and quite liked it. @namechange5575 snap, I felt exactly the same

I will also never get from downward dog to lunge without an ungainly helping hand @2fallsagain @ScottishBeth. I decided ages ago to take Adrienne at her word that it's a perfectly acceptable way to get there! If ever I manage it I will be astonished. I do love puppy pose though - maybe whether you get on with it or not depends where you hold tension? I always feel stress across and between my shoulder blades and puppy pose releases things.

@hoochyhag I invested in a manduka mat about 4 years ago and it's brilliant, would definitely recommend. Not cheap though unfortunately. But it's still basically as good as new after very regular use.

And yes @melonraspberry I get dizzy too! But I do love a bit of knocking on heavens door nonetheless. I knew exactly where Adrienne was going when she started to cue it up and was very happy

Hope you feel better soon @Sooverthemill. Sounds like you've got a lot on your plate, I hope you can take things easy a bit

Prestissimo · 11/01/2023 14:38

I have a ridged mat that I bought for Pilates years ago - I think it helps me not to slip.

I tend to start any (winter) yoga session in socks and lots of layers and then strip off as I warm up. I prefer no socks though.

Haven't done day 10 yet, but was swimming this morning and reflecting on my breathing there and whether the rapid in-breath followed by long exhale for front crawl might explain my difficulties with expansive in-breathing in some yoga positions. I'm going to think about this a bit more in days and weeks to come - makes the lengths a bit more interesting 😂

llynnnn · 11/01/2023 15:58

I'm sooooo tired today! Just can't seem to wake up, feel so lethargic. I did drag myself out of bed at 6,30 this morning to do todays session, purely because I knew that if I didn't I would end up not doing it, and I really want to complete this 30 days!
Considering I had no energy and very little will, I did it all (apart from the side planks, which I've never been able to master!) hoping for a good nights sleep tonight and I'll feel better tomorrow, I hate feeling like this!

Shame no one has found any socks which are fit for the job, my toes get so cold (plus I don't like my bare feet!)

Chimna · 11/01/2023 17:16

Just squeezed day 10 in before DC get home. I enjoyed that and feel ready to face tea and bedtime.

OopNorfDahnSarf · 11/01/2023 17:18

Day 9. Did it later in the day than usual and I felt more flexible as my body had obviously woken up. I normally do yoga first thing in the morning and I guess I am still stiff then. Wobbled and fell over in one of the humble warriors. The session seemed to whizz by.

No socks here for yoga.

Coraline353 · 11/01/2023 17:48

Forgot to check in yesterday and didn't have time this morning but really enjoyed both. Love some heart openers and humble warrior is one of my absolute fave poses (although I don't find it easy).

Today was tough going at 6.15am but did give me a boost for the day. Energy indeed! Did feel strong doing it.

Also, and this is quite sad, I was delighted that one of my insta stories of me doing yesterday's Corazon practice was re-shared by the FWFG insta account.

froginawell · 11/01/2023 17:51

Awful awful day at work, went to the mat grudgingly in a foul mood.

Absolutely loved it, feel so much better now!

Find myself saying ' thanks Adrienne, love youI' casually at the end of a session...

That's not sad at all, it's really cool! I really enjoyed the pics of the different practices!

BestIsWest · 11/01/2023 17:56

Day 10 (think I managed 0.1 milliseconds of side plank) and I finished off the half of day 9 I didn’t do yesterday. Love humble warrior.

Coraline353 · 11/01/2023 17:59

Oh no! I just realised I did totally the wrong video this morning!!

I do them so early that they're still in 'premiere' mode on YouTube, as if they're live. So you click through from email the video is often halfway through already because it's 'live'. I scrolled back the beginning but then you have to skip through the countdown to the premiere beginning. I think while skipping through I must have accidentally clicked on a totally different video!! Explains why it wasn't the 18 mins promised (22 mins) but it was similar with side planks etc involved. I did a 20 Mon power yoga video instead 🤣

Now I'm conflicted. I've technically missed one of the Center videos but don't want to go a day behind. Might save day 10 and do it at the end.

ScottishBeth · 11/01/2023 18:13

I wasn't feeling very energetic today, and was dreading today's practice, to be honest. I didn't do the best, but I felt a million times better after it than before, so obviously did something right! I used my oil diffuser and did a meditation on my acupressure mat after the yoga - felt like I really needed some proper self care!

I went to a class last night at my trapeze place, and the instructor, who I haven't seen since I started almost-daily yoga in middle October, commented on how much more flexible I am, so that was nice!

Weepingwillows12 · 11/01/2023 19:04

I really enjoyed day 10. Was tired and not in the mood but just as I was grumpily getting my mat out I thought maybe she will do knocking on heaven's door and cheered myself up 😀. And she did! Didn't even mind the downward dog today but did the adjustment for side plank.

Jumbojem · 11/01/2023 19:23

Had to do this after work today and wasn't really looking forward to it after getting soaked on the walk home. Turns out it was just what I needed, although I had to do the side planks on my fore arms rather than hands as I'm not strong enough.

Sooverthemill · 11/01/2023 19:44

@Coraline353 wow! @Weepingwillows12 it is my belief she is psychic

I think you might be right!

Gufo · 11/01/2023 20:49

Loved day 10! I finished it feeling strong, although I feel an idiot doing Heaven's Door.

My mat is an amazon cheapie but does the job - not slippy and still in good condition. Loving my bmocks too - my hips are so tight that sitting on one gets me into the right position when sitting cross legged.

daisychain01 · 11/01/2023 21:14

It sounds like a lot of us have had challenging days today, and I will admit I did too. So tonight's Day 10 was very welcomed!

Strangely I found that even though I was mentally and physically exhausted, the Energy theme did me good, it certainly went by so quickly.

I never used to enjoy Knocking on Heaven's Door, I felt it was a bit pointless flinging your arms around all over the place, but for some weird reason tonight I absolutely loved it, I was dancing all around my mat and DH came in and laughed at me being a loon Grin and the other one was flinging your arms forward and backwards, bending knees, that one made me puff like Thomas the Tank Engine.

i found it difficult going into triangle pose from the ground up - I got a bit confused and couldn't follow her instructions (I wasn't watching the screen) and had to replay that part. Normally I'm used to coming into the posture from standing.
