Yay! It's day 0 and the video is up ( at 6.03 for me). Let's do this! What a lovely gentle way to start. See you all tomorrow when we actually do a little bit of yoga.

Ooos sorry meant to change my name back.

EmmaStone · 08/01/2023 17:32

Day 7 just done (and had to do day 5&6 together yesterday as no time on Friday at all). I felt my abs when doing the cat cows!! My biggest issue with day 6 abs is my hip joints hurt so so much, I just can't keep my legs up to finish the exercises - my abs are fine!! I think it's because of tight hips, so I need to keep stretching them out really.

Enjoyed day 7's flow, my only (teeny) grumble is that I've been doing yoga for years and 'know' what my flow will be when in my normal class 99% of the time. Adriene's has some variations in her standard flow, AND sometimes she mixes it up, so whereas I can normally close my eyes and move with my breath, with Adriene it's slightly stressy as to whether im doing the right move and what's coming next. But it's not a big deal, I feel a bit churlish mentioning it!

BalancingStick · 08/01/2023 17:39

Loved the flow today - pace felt perfect. Looking forward to the peace and rest tomorrow!

daisychain01 · 08/01/2023 17:50

Stickortwister · 08/01/2023 11:49

Blanket day tomorrow though. My favourite.
Undoubtedly work will be shit tomorrow so going to save it for the evening.

I will join you in the evening @Stickortwister tomorrow - I'm thinking the same, Monday is going to be full-on so my normal fidgety-ness will give way to some well-earned relaxation yay!

snap, @EmmaStone I try to listen to Adriene's instructions closely so I can close my eyes but sometimes it goes badly wrong Grin so it isn't churlish at all.

In fact the last day is normally Adriene doing a whole session of free flow with no instruction which I find it mildly frustrating as it's very uncomfortable craning my neck looking at the iPad screen or else completely losing my way.

I'm thinking of doing things differently this year by running the video once through, watching her moves and makIng notes of the basic moves, so I can then rerun the video and try to keep up.

Not sure if it will work but worth a try! 🤞

froginawell · 08/01/2023 17:58

Day 7 done!

notanicepersonapparently · 08/01/2023 18:08

Like many of you I have aching abbs and cramping hips and I still enjoyed every minute (almost) of todays. I’m glad it’s a slower pace tomorrow. My muscles need a rest.

Prestissimo · 08/01/2023 18:12

Maybe that's it @EmmaStone - I'm trying to check what she's doing so it doesn't feel like it properly flows. The breathing is just an extra thing to worry about, whereas I usually find the breathing helps. Trying to remember if I got better when I'd done Move a few times and so knew what was coming.

Prestissimo · 08/01/2023 18:13

And obviously she's explaining what to do so it's not just one breath's worth in each place

Prestissimo · 08/01/2023 18:14

I tried day 30 in Move once @daisychain01 and hated it so much that I didn't bother again - just chose a different session for that day each time.

Chimna · 08/01/2023 18:20

Day 7 done. I also felt it in the cat cows! I enjoyed today even though I am full of cold. Looking forward to tommorows!

ScottishBeth · 08/01/2023 18:22

Did Day 7 this afternoon. I was shattered after soft play, pizza hut and LO waking up from her nap very upset due to teething pain. But I have an amazing partner and was able to get 25 minutes to do yoga. I'm so glad I did, it was really good! Having been doing yoga regularly since middle of October I can really tell during days like today.

Also while playing with LO later on I ended up in DD while she crawled all around me - I held it for ages!

@Prestissimo your attitude to it all sounds really good! And it's fine to have preferences with it all.

SunUpSunDown · 08/01/2023 18:41

I am definitely feeling all this yoga...taking a deep breathe in is uncomfortable! I enjoyed today's flow, but I'm equally looking forward to tomorrow :-)

daisychain01 · 08/01/2023 18:47

Definitely with you on that final session and running a different one instead Smile

Today's Flow was good. Going forward and back, forward and back from plank to standing forward fold wasnt good for my wrists, so it did "cupcake" hands rather than flat palms which took some of the strain off my wrists and gave my fingers a workout instead Grin

The final lying on back twist with leg over the knee was really nice, thank you .Adriene for that, very releasing 👍 and lots of Exhaulting Warrior (leaning backward, arm in the air) was also naice.

Tomorrow's gentle one, I've got my Yoga PJs and fleece blanket all lined up next to my mat 🧘‍♀️ and will resolve not to fidget too too much, no guarantee

daisychain01 · 08/01/2023 18:48

First comment for @Prestissimo Grin

BestIsWest · 08/01/2023 18:59

Day 7 done. Definitely felt the impact of day 6. I’ve been grumbling to DH all day. Really looking forward to a restful day tomorrow.

Weepingwillows12 · 08/01/2023 19:08

I liked the flow but skipped a few of those weird downward dog to standing and back. Looking forward to a cozy day tomorrow. Have enjoyed the first week.

euromum · 08/01/2023 19:19

Hello all! I've been lurking this thread on and off for the last week and you seem like a lovely bunch of yogis so I'll take the plunge and join you Smile

I've managed to stick to the schedule so far and am really enjoying it. It's the third or fourth time I've done Adriene's 30 days in Jan but Move last year was the first I finished "on time". I always manage to keep up there daily yoga for a couple of months and then let it slip but I'm hoping to keep it going this year and really have a year-round practice. Maybe having told you all will keep me to it longer than usual!

Anyway, well done to everyone so far, and I'm looking forward to checking in with you all through the month! And to tomorrow's blanket day Smile For me it'll be an easy transition into the day, early morning is the best time for me or I end up not doing it. Might just stay in my pjs!

I surprised myself by liking those ones!

Isthisjustnormal · 08/01/2023 19:35

Missed a couple of days of posting but day 7 done: agree @EmmaStone that it’s hard to flow if you’re not confident of what’s coming next: I guess that’s where a retailer class where you know the teachers patterns is so great. This is my first year with Adrienne so I don’t know her shorthand yet so only felt there were a few bits where I could feel
xonfident enough of my moves to really focus on moving with the breath rather than wondering wheat comes next. Still enjoying it though. Although agree that my abs feel like they have definitely been working!

Taswama · 08/01/2023 20:32

Can I join. I was a day behind by today as I did a RL class on Weds. I did day 6 and then decided I had time to do day 7 so did that too.
Am enjoying it so far, this is my fourth year doing it.

Rummikub · 08/01/2023 20:38

Welcome Tas. Fourth year?! Wow. Last years Move was my proper first. Year before that I stopped at day 4 and stayed there for a bit.

Shinyandnew2022 · 08/01/2023 20:42

Evening all and welcome @euromum and @Taswama .
Today was a mixed one for me - I had to squeeze the session in between a busy stressful evening (which included nearly trying to drive down an exit slip road onto a motorway after missing my junction !) anyway head wasn't really in the zone but I got there eventually and did enjoy lots of it - Abs could definitely feel day 6 efforts!

UnaOfStormhold · 08/01/2023 21:01

Like @BestIsWestand @Rummikub I found day 6 harder on the thighs than the calves, though in my case probably due to a 10k race this morning (which is also the reason I decided not to do day 6 yesterday!). So tonight was a nice 6 and 7 double bill - very different practices so it worked nicely.

One of the things I like about Adriene is that I don't feel the need to watch her - I can just listen and it almost always works out. Her descriptions of the movements are really well thought through plus of course I've done enough of her videos that I have a good sense of how her sessions go. And even if I flow into the wrong move that's fine - it feels more important to follow the breath than Adriene if that makes sense. I suspect she'd agree as she often encourages us to ad lib a bit, which means I feel much freer than in a class. Day 30 I basically just ignore her and do my own thing, only looking up if I am lacking inspiration.

Taswama · 08/01/2023 21:13

It's definitely part of my January ritual now! (That and dry January). It frequently takes me into mid February to finish though.
