Yay! It's day 0 and the video is up ( at 6.03 for me). Let's do this! What a lovely gentle way to start. See you all tomorrow when we actually do a little bit of yoga.

I like the way you’ve put that! Yes I did have my legs out slightly lower than 45’.

daisychain01 · 08/01/2023 07:21

👍 @Rummikub the other thing to assist is to place your palms downwards on the mat beneath your bottom (not your lower back, below that), which slightly elevated your lower pelvis and gives a more comfortable angle to work the abs.

I do it sometimes (depending on how I'm feeling and whether I need a bit of extra help) as it protects the lower back from strain.

Fandangles · 08/01/2023 08:24

@Stickortwister well done! I’m quite euphoric too and it’s definitely making my January better. I’ve also never done the 30 days - really want to stay committed. Let’s do it - how amazing will we feel at the end?!

day 7 done. Loved it. Felt a bit emotional afterwards for some reason.

Sooverthemill · 08/01/2023 08:30

Omg my abs ( I’m guessing ) are sore today. Loved ‘flow’ and am so happy she’s using lots of warrior 2 which is one of my favourites. Am feeling teeny tiny improvements I think? How’s everyone else?

I enjoyed day 6 - it felt very much like Pilates rather than yoga but I suppose there is overlap. It was nice to give the shoulders a break from all the plank/downward dog work

2fallsfromSSA · 08/01/2023 08:32

I've also never done the 30 days in 30 days. Normally takes me to mid January. I'm going to try and keep to the plan this year. Then I might do Move over Feb/March (so maybe not daily)

ArabeI · 08/01/2023 08:46

I agree @2fallsagain that day 6 did slightly feel like Pilates though nice for the break from plank and dd.

I’m feeling the same too!! I’ve never done the 30 days and the more I do the more I want to stick at it!

Gwdihooooo · 08/01/2023 09:13

Day 6’done last night… I do them at 9ish before bed.

I did 2 other core workouts yesterday too so my abs are feeling it this morning!

I kept getting a clicky hip during the bicycle exercises which was a bit annoying

llynnnn · 08/01/2023 09:16

Day 6 done yesterday, definitely enjoyed the break from being on my hands, but I can certainly feel my stomach and leg muscles this morning...

Looking forward to day 7 later! One week done ✔️

InvisibleDragon · 08/01/2023 09:24

Day 6 done late last night. Used cranky baby as an excuse to avoid a bunch of random relations who showed up at about 8pm, put him to bed and did the yoga. Win.

Sadly, the rest of the night was a mess of crying, writhing baby that not even bedsharing helped with.

Love a good flow practice, so looking forward to day 7 tonight.

Buttalapasta · 08/01/2023 09:40

Day 7 was enjoyable although I'm sure we did more on one side than the other and I don't like not being symmetrical! Stomach muscles are a bit achey from yesterday!

Coraline353 · 08/01/2023 09:58

Day 7 was yummy. And yes to sore abs! And also yes to clicky hips @Gwdihooooo . My hips are a disaster!

BestIsWest · 08/01/2023 10:28

My abs are sore today so I must have been doing something right!

AceofPentacles · 08/01/2023 11:38

Day 7 done I surprised myself with getting through nearly all of it but gave up at the last walking plank... feel great! Grin

Stickortwister · 08/01/2023 11:48

Day 7 done.
Found it was a bit quick for me at times ( made worse by the fact most of it i seemed to be facing away from my tv!) and at one point my spirlling up led to me falling over onto my arse... nothing injured but my pride though.

Stickortwister · 08/01/2023 11:49

Blanket day tomorrow though. My favourite.
Undoubtedly work will be shit tomorrow so going to save it for the evening.

hoochyhag · 08/01/2023 11:49

Day 7 done, slightly later.

Ah this is something we do for ourselves, which is rare. It is such a good thing.

Can't believe I've done 7 days on the trot. Couldn't do it without you lovely lot.

AlisonDonut · 08/01/2023 12:16

Day 6 done this morning. Still a day behind but not worried.

llynnnn · 08/01/2023 12:20

Day 7 done, lovely flowy session, nice to move gently and my wrists are definitely stronger than they were when I started. Hoping the rest of me catches up too!
One week done 😁

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 08/01/2023 14:20

Day 7 done. Much needed after swimming and running this morning.

Looking forward to tomorrow, as I'll be switching to practicing in the evenings this week.

Prestissimo · 08/01/2023 15:28

Day 7 done. I don't really like the flow practices - I feel so out of sync with my breathing (and trying to make it flow) that it stops my enjoyment of the movements themselves. I'm sure this probably means I need to do more of it, but I find it really hard.

Having said that, I was listening to the Running Commentary podcast while running earlier, and Rob Deering (always does YWA 30 days) said the thing he likes about Adriene is that he trusts her to know what he can do - and weirdly that's what I love as well. I know she doesn't actually know what I'm doing, but I always find that just as I'm finding it difficult she gives some positive affirmation, or a modification that I can use. I'm sure it's down to confirmation bias or something, but I really value it from her. Whenever it's hard I know that if I just hang on she'll start counting down, or will move to something different - it's always just about within my ability if I persevere.

Anyway, will enjoy some cosiness tomorrow. I'm with @Stickortwister my day at work is inevitably going to be awful, so will be looking forward to an evening session.

Happy first week done everyone!

CirreltheSquirrel · 08/01/2023 15:33

Day 7 done first thing, this is the furthest I've got into one of these without skipping a day I think. I usually do them in the morning but if tomorrow is a blanket day I think I will make the most of OH being out tomorrow evening and do it before bed 😀

Aah ok I’ll remember to do that thanks. Oh and my abs do ache!

Day 7 flow was fast I couldn’t keep up! Busy day tomorrow so not sure if I’ll be able to do day 8 but I’ll jump back in wed hopefully.

2fallsfromSSA · 08/01/2023 16:43

I really enjoy the flow practice so it was a good one for me to do today. Now a big roast and a glass of red.

I think it's important not to overthink it and kind of go with the flow (boom boom) and if you are on the wrong leg or the wrong way round it doesn't matter. The key is to keep moving.

However they must be tricky for complete beginners.
