Yay! It's day 0 and the video is up ( at 6.03 for me). Let's do this! What a lovely gentle way to start. See you all tomorrow when we actually do a little bit of yoga.

Day 6 done and only swore once...

SunUpSunDown · 07/01/2023 17:39

My husband was laughing from the kitchen as I did this one...let's just say that there were a lot of moans and groans happening with possibly the odd choice word. I reckon I did just over half of today. My core is not very strong at all.

BestIsWest · 07/01/2023 17:40

I swore more than once! Then she suggested doing it twice - or three times.

It was the bit where i was about to stop and she said ' let's just do this 5 times' that made me swear!

Found day 6 pretty hard going today, I'm hoping that's because I woke up feeling ropey - really weak? Felt like a bug. Anyway, glad it's done. I look forward to repeating it over the year and feeling stronger.

BalancingStick · 07/01/2023 18:14

Day 6 done. Wasn't as bad as I was anticipating- and I like ab work. Looking forward to feeling the ache tomorrow!

ScottishBeth · 07/01/2023 18:22

I found day 6 quite difficult. I suspect partly because I went to a trapeze class earlier in the day, so my muscles were pretty fatigued.

I don't understand though how some core stuff I feel like I'm pretty good on - when we sit up and lie down slowly I feel like my core is really good at keeping me controlled. But then I found today tricky. Suppose its just one of those things. Our bodies are strange things! Anyhow I'm glad day 6 is done! Looking forward to tomorrow.

daisychain01 · 07/01/2023 18:23

Did Day 5 yesterday and didn't find it too bad, in fact I was pleased it didn't end up being 30 mins under a blanket or something too slow, as I'm a right fidget and end up filling the gaps with downdogs and cobras! Thankfully we got a good workout.

Im now ready to do Day 6 and I'm not looking forward to it judging by all the comments. Oh dear...

Knackerelli · 07/01/2023 18:44

Day 6 done! Despite my core being atrocious and I’d run a brutal 4 mile cross country race at lunchtime, it was ok! I had to take a couple of breaks but not as many as I had feared. Living all the hamstrings, glutes and hip work as that’s just what I need. Well done everyone!

Knackerelli · 07/01/2023 18:45

Loving, not living! I really need to preview😃

Chimna · 07/01/2023 19:02

Day 6 done. I found that painful, probably shouldn't have done straight after tea!

CeeCeeDeeBee · 07/01/2023 19:18

That was one of the least painful day 6s there's been, thank goodness! So glad it was floor-based and not plank-based, don't think I could have handled another mountain climber.

daisychain01 · 07/01/2023 20:35

Day 6 done, thank goodness.

I liked doing the legs up and legs forward on my back as it supported my lower back which often grumbles with abs exercises. And my neck didn't like all those sit ups very much, so I had to rest a couple of times and play catch up.

I must remember to mark that one in my YouTube favourites so I can do it a few times and see if I improve. Glad it was only 19 minutes that's all I can say!

BestIsWest · 07/01/2023 20:38

I found today harder on my thighs than my abs. Am I doing something wrong?

Depends, see if you hurt tomorrow!

Shinyandnew2022 · 07/01/2023 21:12

Day 6 done here too.
Have loved reading all your updates - i am in the slightly euphoric camp - I used to avoid redoing day 6 of Move as abs are my weakness , but all the plank work etc must have made a massive difference as although it was tough at times I did it all and enjoyed it - I am so surprised!
To those who struggled - honestly it's the regular showing up that makes the difference .
I used to really hate January but this thread is making it an absolute pleasure at the moment

ArabeI · 07/01/2023 22:17

Day 6 done. I thought it was too gentle initially, but around the hallway mark that changed. I enjoyed that one as I'm not usually over-fond of core exercises.

Brontosaurus · 07/01/2023 22:35

Thanks for the support. I know I shouldn't worry about getting behind under the circumstances. Not much I could have done about it after all.

DD went down for bed at a reasonable time so I did my yoga this evening instead of in the morning, and did days 4 and 5 together. So if I can manage days 6 and 7 tomorrow then I'm all caught up.

I like tree pose! And I could stay in that forward fold position forever; it's just lovely on my back. Those mountain climbers though...pah. I don't want to climb mountains. Neither do my knees. They told me so.

happytobemrsg · 07/01/2023 22:52

Day 6 done! Enjoyed today. Thinking I should try & do this a couple of times a week to get a real benefit from it. Really enjoying this journey so far 😊

melonraspberry · 07/01/2023 23:13

I also enjoyed day 6. Much prefer lying on my back while killing my abs

VerbenaView · 07/01/2023 23:19

Exactly @ScottishBeth "I don't understand though how some core stuff I feel like I'm pretty good on - when we sit up and lie down slowly I feel like my core is really good at keeping me controlled. But then I found today tricky. Suppose its just one of those things. Our bodies are strange things!"

I was the same re aching thighs rather than abs. I wonder too if my position isn’t quite right

daisychain01 · 08/01/2023 06:05

@Shinyandnew2022

You're really onto something there, that's exactly what I was thinking.

Adriene always does at least 5 planks/downdogs in her daily sessions which really work the abs (even doing the modified version with knees on the ground), so I found yesterday's Day 6 was at least do-able compared to previous years 👍

daisychain01 · 08/01/2023 06:08

Day 7 FLOW has just plopped into my Inbox. I love a good flow!

have a nice Sunday all.

I don't think you're doing anything "wrong" - you may recall that Adriene suggested a modification for the "legs out straight" version of the sequence is to outstretch your leg a bit more upwards than outwards.

So if your legs were closer to the ground then you will definitely have felt it more on the legs then if you had them at 45 degrees or higher.

Maybe your abs are stronger than you think 👍
