Yay! It's day 0 and the video is up ( at 6.03 for me). Let's do this! What a lovely gentle way to start. See you all tomorrow when we actually do a little bit of yoga.

UnaOfStormhold · 05/01/2023 21:53

I was feeling rubbish last night and not much better today so I had missed day 3. Caught up gently today.

I have been practicing at home so much that I automatically whip off my trousers to do tree - it's so much easier. But I must remember not to do do that in a live class.... I did enjoy the episode of Move where she asked us to close our eyes in tree and enjoy falling out of the pose.

I quite liked the half plank press ups - I can do full ones but only just about so it was nice to slow down and really focus on good form.

One tip for sore wrists is to spread the fingers and push them down almost as if you're trying to lift the palm off the floor - she really emphasised this one year (I think it was home) and it took the pressure off a lot, I think because it changes the angle of the wrist.

HellonHeels · 05/01/2023 22:15

Day 4 done. Liked this one better. The thread the needle pose at the end has always been a struggle for me. I can't grasp the back of the thigh, so end up holding ankle and shin bone. One side is especially tight.

I didnt hear the namaste! Will pay more attention next time :-)

Shinyandnew2022 · 05/01/2023 22:21

Day 4 done here too.
Was lovely to hear Namaste !
I loved todays session I had a stressful evening and it was a perfect gear change.
Glad I didn't read too many of your ccmments before I did it as the half plank push ups / mountain climbers/ and tree are all things I wouldn't have looked forward to . It all felt quite doable in reality

happytobemrsg · 05/01/2023 22:29

First time I’ve really tried any balancing poses & I was so wobbly! But I enjoyed trying to engage my core to keep me upright. One I’d like to go back to when my balance improves. Day 4 done!

PositiveLife · 05/01/2023 23:05

I really enjoyed day 4. I'm definitely better at the balancing stuff than the flexibility stuff.

A question for those people who use blocks - I sat on one today for the sitting positions and it was so much better for me, but what do you do when she then goes from that position to lying down? I felt like I was struggling to keep up at that point (my transitions are slow anyway because I'm injured and unfit 😂)

VerbenaView · 05/01/2023 23:40

Really enjoyed Day 4, completed it about 8.30pm, then shower and supper, I am now feeling a bit achy, that nice exercise ache.

melonraspberry · 06/01/2023 06:43

My quads are aching today. I’ve not felt them for many years!

Fandangles · 06/01/2023 07:08

Day 5 down 😀. I struggled today - not so much with the practice itself (although I did need to take a quick child’s pose break during the leg to chest malarkey). I weighed myself before starting and, even though I knew I’d put on weight over Xmas, it was still shit to see. so I think I was a bit preoccupied.

still, I did it. Well done everyone for getting this far 🎉

ScottishBeth · 06/01/2023 07:28

@PositiveLife when I use a block I don't worry about a smooth transition there. Just take it out and lie down, or whatever is next. Or if you mean when she's doing the slow lie down engaging core I take it out then sit back down and do the move.

@melonraspberry is it super satisfying? I love thay feeling!

@Fandangles sorry you were preoccupied. I'm trying to lose weight, which is fine, I'll be healthier too. But it's a shame how much it affects us emotionally. And I'm a bit distraught! I saw day 5 was called Hug and thought it'd be super chilled! Haha!

AceofPentacles · 06/01/2023 07:44

Hmmm 'hug' a slightly deceptive title for day 5...

CirreltheSquirrel · 06/01/2023 07:48

I had the same thoughts about hug - the first 5 minutes were what I expected, the rest definitely wasn't!

Coraline353 · 06/01/2023 07:53

Ha ha. I expected 'hug' wasn't going to be so straightforward.

I struggled to get out of bed this morning but largely enjoyed the practice. I tweaked my neck during the night though and it's so painful so that distracted me today.

Hints at day 6 from Adriene too. Gearing myself up for tomorrow but won't get up early to do it (only do that Mon-Fri).

Jumbojem · 06/01/2023 08:35

As it's the 6th I had it in my head today would be a tough core day. Forgot we didn't start until the 2nd, so it's tomorrow. Short and first she said, eek!
That said there was a fair bit of core in today's.

For those struggling with getting their leg forward from down dog to lunge, even Adrienne admits to this today and says it's fine to manually move your leg once you've landed. I still struggle with this, despite having done YWA for a few years (on and off), and today just slid my foot along the mat as I didn't have the energy to lift it at all after all the plank knee to nose moves.

Jumbojem · 06/01/2023 08:35

*short and FAST not first. Sorry.

Sooverthemill · 06/01/2023 08:40

@happytobemrsg yes that’s fine
everykne with blocks and struggling with how to change from them. Pause the video! Then it’s easier. Don’t stress this isn’t a fast goal oriented practice is it ( well my goal is to build flexibility and strength but you know)
@Fandangles I’ve puton weight through ill health ( almost a stone) and it’s making me miserable. I can’t. Seem to shift it and have been waiting for consultant appointment for almost 18 months. So I really get you! Hoping this regular practice will help my self esteem at least. I also am having a really shit time at home and at the moment am struggling. The daily yoga does indeed ‘Center’ me and gives me a previous time
out. Today was accompanied by small cat who lay across my feet during table top!
day 6 is a tradition it’s abs work and is tough but not gruelling. Don’t worry about it she is kind

*short and FAST not first. Sorry.

I heard short and fiery!

EmmaStone · 06/01/2023 08:59

Did Day 4 late last night after a really tough circuits class, so really wasn't feeling it, and stopped as soon as she got to savasana as I was getting straight into bed anyway. And then I couldn't sleep - ARGH!

Not quite sure how I'm going to fit in day 5 today - might be another bedtime session, but I'm out tonight, so perhaps will have to stay sober...Really trying to do it on the day this year rather than play catch up which I've done previously.

Jumbojem · 06/01/2023 09:16

@Sooverthemill ooh yes, maybe it was "fiery"! No Namaste today either, I miss it when she didn't say it.

Buttalapasta · 06/01/2023 09:36

I can't do the plank to knee-in movements at all. I don't know if it's strength or fitness related but they're just not happening. I can't extend one arm fully due to injury which doesn't help but it still doesn't explain why it's so impossible. Everything hurts except the squatting!

hoochyhag · 06/01/2023 09:43

Day 5 done ☺️

I think we are doing incredibly well, especially as a lot of us are fighting off viruses etc

Yes, loved what she said about helping your foot up in the plank/lunge. She has a lovely manner, really encourages me to do what I can.

Hasta manyana? Is that see you tomorrow?

Yes, tomorrows sounds a bit 😱 😂

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 06/01/2023 09:46

Day 5 done. I noticed last night that my arms were a bit sore when I was sitting on the sofa with my crochet, and they were still sore this morning, even before the knee to nose work. I guess it shows that I’m working different parts of my body. No pre-yoga run, so at least I wasn’t panting and sweaty when I started.

I heard “fiery” for tomorrow too. Have a good day all!

AlisonDonut · 06/01/2023 09:47

I had to miss yesterday due to a very busy morning and going out for lunch and then an afternoon of weeding and burping [after the lunch] so no way was I going to be able to down dog last night. So I've just done Day 4.

I don't mind being a day behind, I'll do two maybe on Sunday to catch up. But I did weekly yoga wednesday night as well as Day 3 so I forgave myself yesterday. It's not often we actually go out to eat.

hoochyhag · 06/01/2023 09:47

@Sooverthemill the little cat sounds like another must have yoga accessory. Will swop for my annoying westie who hits me with toys 🙄

Fandangles · 06/01/2023 09:59

Thanks @scottishbeth agree it’s irritating that it can have such an emotional effect.

@Sooverthemill sorry things are crap at home. I really do think simply “showing up” is indeed powerful in itself. I certainly feel better about myself when I’ve done the practice, and I think I’m a bit kinder to myself too.

namaste y’all 🙏 😀

Weepingwillows12 · 06/01/2023 10:38

Will do hug later. Glad you all warned me it wasn't the snuggly session it sounds. Was thinking it's a bit early for the blanket ones yet but I am always up for a relaxed one so will now shift my brain to a more energetic one.
