So in 2022 a bunch of us did MOVE every day and then carried on for j think about 7 months and then we petered out a bit but most still have some kind of daily practice. Please join us starting 1 January!

SIGN UP: here

Designed for whole body mental health, this 30 Day Journey is yoga for the here and now. This series is suitable for all levels, and offers modifications and enhancements for individuals far and wide to practice in a way that invites transformation, healing, and strength from the inside out.

CENTER focuses on whole-body strengthening with core-centered practices. It is breath led and crafted like a good book. One practice or page, prepares you for the next.

Expect to learn new things, go deeper in your practice, discover how to absorb your own self-care, befriend Benji the dog, and practice yoga, meditation, breath work, self-massage, affirmation, sweat, stillness, and laughter.

I cannot wait! MOVE got me through this bloody hard year and the companionship of all you guys made such a difference. Please join me

@everydaysabeginning

Heres a link for day 1 move

Newcomers always welcome!

@happytobemrsg I tried kassandra but I couldn’t take to it. I find Adrienne explains and adjusts better. And I like the praise for just turning up!

CeeCeeDeeBee · 18/12/2022 18:14

I joined in last January and would love to join in again this year!

ScottishBeth · 18/12/2022 18:17

Welcome @Someaddedsugar and @everydaysabeginning Glad to have some more people joining us!
Move was the programme for January 2022, it's available at https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLui6Eyny-Uzyp5P3Vcuv5qCHQOC8W6grN
Center will be starting in January! I'm so happy I have something to look forward to after the excitement of Christmas!

@happytobemrsg that's fab you've got the support of your husband! And have got off to a good start! There is something for everyone in YWA (except my partner, who absoluteky refuses to do any yoga ever). But there's a wide range of things there. I've never done anything with Kassandra so can't help there. I'm sure someone will know something though.

everydaysabeginning · 18/12/2022 19:17

Thank you x

happytobemrsg · 18/12/2022 19:17

Just did the 10 minute video with my 6 year old DS. He was very distracting 😂 I don’t think it helped that he didn’t have a proper mat as he was sliding everywhere 🤦🏻‍♀️ hoping to be able to do the 10 minute bedtime practice as well tonight. Really trying to get into the swing of things ready for the 1st Jan! Feeling lovely & calm

Jumbojem · 18/12/2022 20:35

At least your DH gave it a go @happytobemrsg! mine refuses to try, even though he does a lot of running and I said we could do the runners specific ones and would help avoid injuries.

ScottishBeth · 18/12/2022 20:46

Which one have you been doing @happytobemrsg ?

I have attempted to do yoga a couple of times with my little one in the room (15 months). I end up holding her while doing warrior 2! I'm sure my alignment left something to be desired!

happytobemrsg · 18/12/2022 22:39

@Jumbojem i was super shocked he agreed too! He’s a PT & trains daily but he hates sitting still. I think he was relieved when I said DS was doing it with me tonight so he didn’t have to.

@ScottishBeth I'm the most beginner of beginners so yesterday & this evening I did the YWA 10 minute video. Then just before bed I did the 20 minute beginner video. The poses in that one was definitely tougher! I really felt it in my wrists when doing downward dog (?). Not sure I’m getting my pelvis in the right place in the other poses. But it’s my first time & we’ve all got to start somewhere 😊

Someaddedsugar · 19/12/2022 06:26

Thank you. Looking forward to it!

sweetheartyparty · 19/12/2022 06:42

I am in too. I have lost any willpower so u hope posting on here regularly will keep me accountable. I need to lose weight so will also bee following the glucose revolution hacks and maybe 16:8

ScottishBeth · 19/12/2022 07:53

@happytobemrsg downward dog is hard at first. You'll get better at it. Don't worry if you have to drop to your knees for some of it, I even used to do that in in-person classes, it's definitely allowed in this! And there are so many alignment cues it's impossible to keep track of it all! I think thats why she says Find What Feels Good - if it feels good you're doing it well enough in the beginning!

@sweetheartyparty welcome! Glad you have joined us and hope you fins the chat helpful!

Rummikub · 19/12/2022 08:33

I still can’t do downward dog. The first few months I would do child pose instead. Now I’ll at least try some downward dog but then go to child pose.

I find it really hurts my wrists. But that’s the great thing of doing it on line- no one watching you!

ScottishBeth · 19/12/2022 08:38

Glad it isn't just me! When I first did yoga it was in-person classes, and they'd always say we were spending 5 breaths in downward dog. And they felt like the slowest breaths I'd ever taken in my life! I think it was my shoulders that struggled more than my wrists, though my wrists didn't love it either.

Sooverthemill · 19/12/2022 09:00

Hello everyone, sorry I've had a very sick DD and Hanukkah prep kept me busy.
@happytobemrsg I often do yoga with kassandra. I really like her as a change from Adrienne. She's much more into the spiritual side imo which I kind of ignore but I do like a good om! I found her during covid and did her morning series which is around 10 minutes and I often do one if I don't have time for an Adrienne ( though she has lots of 10 minute ones too). It's a 30 day challenge but obviously you can dip in and out. Adrienne was my first and so my favourite but I have found kassandra to be great too

I use blocks for Downward dog and plank. I would never have got started without them. I find them so helpful.

happytobemrsg · 20/12/2022 08:13

I might mix in some Kassandra at some point. Last night I took my team out for a Christmas meal so I got home around 10pm. Instead of going straight to bed I changed & did YWA 12 minutes wind down. It was lovely. I felt less wired & I fell asleep quickly (something I never, ever do). I’m wondering if yoga before bed is helping me sleep better? I remembered during work yesterday that I was going to do yoga that evening & rather than feeling overwhelmed by the commitment I was excited!

namechange5575 · 20/12/2022 08:36

I'll be joining you again too. Last year was my first with Adriene- I was on the first few threads and dropped off, but carried on a more or less daily practise for the rest of the year. It was great! I felt generally stronger overall, and had fantastic core strength I'd never had before. I also do it first thing in my pjs. I've slacked off recently though, and I'm a bit apprehensive about getting back into a morning routine. I'm hoping that by New Year my general overindulgence and lethargy will be countered by enthusiasm for a fresh start!

happytobemrsg · 20/12/2022 23:35

Tried the 10 minute bedtime video but just couldn’t get into it. So when I finished that I did the wind down one again from last night, I love that one! I’m off work now til the New Year so tomorrow I’m hoping to do the 20 minute beginners video again to get used o doing longer videos. One thing I’m wondering- I have already found videos I like & I want to go back to them. When I’m doing the 30d challenge you just have to keep moving forward. Is that annoying??

Sooverthemill · 21/12/2022 09:54

@happytobemrsg I do t find it annoying and I think most people found it a good discipline as you genuinely make improvements day by day. The 30 day programme builds up

UnaOfStormhold · 21/12/2022 17:12

You could always keep notes on the sessions - what you liked, what was difficult etc. Or do what I do; keep forgetting to take notes and end up searching your comments on this thread...

happytobemrsg · 22/12/2022 11:32

That’s a really good idea @UnaOfStormhold , I’ll do that.

Another thing I need to do is make a note of how long my practice will be that evening & make sure I start early enough. Last night I did the 20min beginner video followed by the 12ish wind down & I ended up going to bed way too late.

SunUpSunDown · 22/12/2022 14:22

Ooh, I'd like to join please :-) I did Move last year, and it made such a big difference. Over the last couple of months, I've fallen out of the habit of a daily yoga practice, and I miss it.

happytobemrsg · 22/12/2022 23:25

Just did my longest video so far in preparation for 1st Jan - 25 minute wind down. Much more challenging poses in this one, I found it pretty hard but one I would like to go back to & try to improve at. The 25 minutes went super fast which is a good sign.

I think I need to do some more active videos during the day now I’m off work for Christmas to better prepare me for the pace of the 30 day programme (as much as I like the slower ones just before bed I’m expecting the January programme to be much more challenging).

But what I’m super happy about is the fact that today marked 6 days in a row of yoga. Very proud of myself & I’m very happy I’m enjoying it.

ScottishBeth · 23/12/2022 08:04

@happytobemrsg that's amazing. Sounds like you're doing really well and getting a lot out of it. Which is amazing. There will definitely be some more active sessions during Center - I was pretty shocked by the first couple of days of Move. When I pick a session it tends to be yoga to wond down, or yoga for when you're stressed, scared, whatever. I have found that doing Move has improved my core strength loads though, so I think doing the harder stuff is definitely worth it.

We have had so much sickness in this house in the last couple of weeks, so I've been struggling to keep up. But I did day 11 of Move yesterday and am really pleased I did!

guinnessguzzler · 25/12/2022 06:58

Merry Christmas yoga friends. I've been useless at fitting in yoga for months now after a good start to the year. Will definitely be joining in January. I haven't managed to catch up on everyone's posts but I hope you are all well and looking forward to doing this together in January.
