Very excited when the email came this morning! Is anyone else up for this?

I'm in!

I'm a week behind but I'm looking forward to getting on with it now. I think I was putting it off because day 1 is 43 mins, however in the end it didn't feel like it!

KinkyDoritowithsparkleson · 08/01/2020 17:08

Day 7 - just about achievable Grin

Redcrayons · 08/01/2020 18:26

a day behind, I just didn't have time yesterday. Day 6 is tough, the boat rocking things are killer.

Going to try to do day 7 before work tomorrow and 8 after so I'm all caught up.

sycamore54321 · 08/01/2020 20:12

I've just finished day 7 and boy did I need a gentle one after an unexpectedly physical day. It was nice - although the neck massage at the start went on for so long that my arm and hand was getting sore!

UnaOfStormhold · 08/01/2020 21:38

That was nice - good for the wrists to have the evening off! Shoulder massage was pleasant but I agree with others dragged on a bit too long. I feel I could have done with even more stretching to really ease all my achey bits. But nice to have a less intense day.

Those who've done these challenges before, it sounds like there's a pattern of intense day 6, then days 7 and 8 are pretty relaxed, what happens after that?

JustMyName · 08/01/2020 21:45

Today I did the sciatica yoga recommended by noodle up thread. It was very relaxing and didn't hurt my shoulder. Thanks for the tip. I didn't do any yesterday because I felt it wasn't worthwhile when I can't do two thirds of the positions.

UnaOfStormhold · 08/01/2020 21:57

Just been scanning through a few of the comments from yesterday. Highlights so far: "Does getting up to have a glass of wine count as a "modification" to the boat pose?" and "Cat pose: when you make your body a bridge so your cat can pass under". I still don't know what fritos are though, or what they smell like...

sweetkitty · 08/01/2020 22:46

@sycamore54321 I did the fitness blender sciatica stretches prior to Day 7 today could really feel them

Cat cow and forward fold are agony for me, they aren’t difficult poses but must just hurt whatever nerve is getting pinched in my bum so I take them really slowly. I wobbled like mad on one leg had to hold onto furniture.

noodlezoodle · 09/01/2020 01:09

I found the first ten minutes of today quite torturous, I wanted to keep yelling 'get on with it!'. I enjoyed the balances at the end though - I tend to struggle with these so was pleased just to not fall over.

@JustMyName, glad you enjoyed the sciatica video and it didn't hurt your shoulder.

@UnaOfStormhold, Day 6 is always abs, Day 8 is always veeeerrrry relaxing, and the final day is often 'freestyle'. I can't remember any other particular patterns she follows but I bet there are some.

KittyMcKitty · 09/01/2020 06:34

Really enjoyed day 8 and actually felt very emotional at the end of it.

Sooverthemill · 09/01/2020 08:48

Not sure there's a pattern after day 8 especially except the freestyle one on the final day ( which I skip and do my favourite day from that challenge, hate freestyle anything, I am a control freak). There's always a soften and an open and a balance. Take a look, my favourite 2 are True and Revolution.

So day 8 today wasn't a good day for me, I didn't enjoy it much. But I fast forwarded through the 3 and a half minutes of burble at the start and did do it along with her. Hampered yet again by kitten

Redpriestandmozart · 09/01/2020 10:46

Day 8 done, she had me at put on socks, I really enjoyed the breathing and just the comfort of the whole thing.

@UnaOfStormhold Fritos are crisps I think, but I know what she means, my dog's paws smell of biscuits

mimiasovitch · 09/01/2020 14:10

Really didn't get a lot out of day 8. My cold has really ramped up, and it's hard to take e deep breath in and hold when the need to cough takes over. On the plus side, a more active practice may have been beyond me.

I've used her practice for sciatica quite a bit. Next time I have it (and there will almost certainly be a next time Sad) I'll try those fitness blender exercises too.

sycamore54321 · 09/01/2020 20:20

Day 8. Hmm. I didn't love it. In theory, I should have as I'm having a horribly pressured day and this should have been just the ticket. But it didn't quite click for some reason. I did feel a tiny bit emotional at one point and was hoping in fact I might even burst into tears or release some sort of emotion but that didn't happen.

I seem to recall not particularly enjoying day 8 last year either.

I am tempted to knock out a plank or two before bed just to keep that push going.

Glad the Fitness Blender is of use to some people - I find it a good little sequence to loosen and protect the back. And the opposite style of approach to Adriene - zero frills or nonsense or thinking!

sycamore54321 · 09/01/2020 20:22

Oh and I didn't catch her saying Fritos but they are some sort of smelly US crisp and in Texas they make "Frito pie" in some kind of mad way by opening a packet of crisps, spooning in a big ladle full of warm chilli con carne, mixing it all up and then you eat it straight from the packet. Very Texas, probably not very yoga!

UnaOfStormhold · 09/01/2020 21:25

Hmm, day 8 didn't sound my kind of thing but it was nice and relaxing. I did the yoga for back pain video first so I could do day 8 as an extended relaxation afterwards. I did like the way Benjy got to keep his blanket! Though I can imagine the outrage in the comments if he got turfed off...

KinkyDoritowithsparkleson · 09/01/2020 21:28

Did this one late as I knew it was lower impact. Bit nervous about ramping it up again tomorrow! Definitely need the healing though.

sweetkitty · 09/01/2020 23:19

Day 8 was hard for me, found it hard to get into as I practice upstairs in my bedroom DD3 and DS were playing loudly and then DD1 started winding them up. Hardly relaxing listening to them all.

Did some more sciatica stretches today as well I can feel them starting to work.

noodlezoodle · 10/01/2020 02:41

I liked today's and enjoyed the rest although I was so uncomfortable at the end that I moved from savasana to extended child's pose. Don't think I'll be bookmarking it to do again though.

My abs are still sore from Day 6!

daisychain01 · 10/01/2020 05:48

Looking forward to a catch up this weekend. I didn't do yesterday's as I had my normal Thursday yoga class, so didn't have time to squeeze in yet more yoga!

Sooverthemill · 10/01/2020 09:18

Loved today's though was dreading it but it was lovely. And sleeping pigeon is soooo good for my dodgy hip ( incidentally the other day my osteopath demonstrated how to do it properly and I don't think Adrienne explains it so well). Reallly nice practice.

AugustRose · 10/01/2020 10:10

Just managed to fit in days 4 and 5 this morning, I'm not going to be able to keep up or catch up so just doing what I can when I can. Feeling a little shaky now. How is Day 6? some years it's not so bad others it's quite hard.

Sooverthemill · 10/01/2020 10:21

Day 6 is a bit of a challenge. One pose in particular people found hard. But you can modify/rest. I didn't find it too bad ( but did rest) and it's ones of those sneaky abs ones that it's only a couple of days later you are ouch ( so day 8 was good)

Redpriestandmozart · 10/01/2020 11:20

Day 9 done, I'm beginning to feel a little more supple although nowhere near where I was before but progress is progress. I liked today, I love pigeon pose and not too many planks :)

KittyMcKitty · 10/01/2020 14:01

Great day 9 actually enjoyed the high lunge and pigeon was a treat.
