Thank you again to all. Will update of the outcome ❤️

BobbieTables · 21/01/2026 15:38

Good luck!

Notmeagain24 · 21/01/2026 15:50

Really sorry to read what happened today OP. I am shocked, it didn't sound like it was going to be that to me but you had the right gut feeling. Anyway, looking forward to your update where you tell us everything worked out even better than you could imagine in a few months time - that's my hope for you! Sending hugs xxx

HayceeDeeCee · 21/01/2026 16:02

All the very best OP, good things await you and I hope your mum is doing ok xxx

AlexisP90 · 21/01/2026 16:08

You will get through this. Right now its all fresh and new and panic takes over but you will be okay x

wrongthinker · 21/01/2026 16:09

Sorry to hear this was the outcome, OP, but you are handling it so well.

Agree with pp, you can negotiate and ask for more. I would also think carefully about how your boss may be able to help you so that you can take him up on his offer!

Honestly it sounds like you've been underpaid for what you do, so I hope this will be a springboard into either a much higher-paid role or consultancy/contract work.

CrazyPenguin101 · 21/01/2026 16:13

For those who missed the update, I was indeed made redundant.

Settlement offer received and I have sent my counter. Keep your fingers crossed 🤞

I felt sick reading you updated op, I'm so sorry you've been dealt such a shitty hand.

I'm a firm believer in that saying 'whats for you won't go by you' so although this is an awful thing to happen, you'll come through it and it will be okay.

bigsoftcocks · 21/01/2026 16:27

Not much to add but do make sure that your ‘years of service’ is from the final date that would be at the end of any pilon. That’s the date that have to use, not today.
It might not be relevant but worth checking.

If big org and if they are asking you to sign an agreement you might want to ask them to pay for a lawyer to review it for peace of mind.

BengalBangle · 21/01/2026 16:29

I'm so sorry to hear you have been made redundant.
I think the way your company handled the scheduling of the meeting was bloody awful.

CissOff · 21/01/2026 16:33

I was following your original thread but missed the update - saw the deletion message - glad you’ve updated but so sorry to hear it wasn’t good news 🥺

darkchocolatebounty · 21/01/2026 16:44

So sorry, OP. I saw your initial thread, and felt awful for you; I could feel the despair in your posts. I hoped so much that you were wrong.

Whatever the meeting was for, it should have never, ever been handled in that way. Truly appalling on their part and I’m sorry that they put you through that.

Wishing you all the very best.

Serafee · 21/01/2026 16:47

If you need someone to look at your settlement agreement then PM me. It has to be signed off by a lawyer and you need to ensure they're doing everything properly.

Abala67 · 21/01/2026 17:00

What was your counter offer?

FcukBreastCancer · 21/01/2026 17:02

Sorry op. Get every last penny you can from them

If op is paid PILON the end date of employment is the day she stops working.

Zonder · 21/01/2026 17:06

So sorry. I hope you get your counter offer.

igelkott2026 · 21/01/2026 17:06

I'm very sorry to hear this OP - I was a bit concerned when you said you were so close to your two years' service.

Make sure you get outplacement assistance as part of your settlement - it can really help.

CrazyPenguin101 · 21/01/2026 17:18

Abala67 · 21/01/2026 17:00

What was your counter offer?

I asked for the extra month ex gratia so ultimately getting around 6 months pay including notice period.

I was ! They quoted contract signed beginning of April so actually less than 2 weeks..

The fact they didn’t give you a heads up and also didn’t allow you to bring someone to help you or represent you is appalling too and is it even legal they did that?!!!

DecemberGloom · 21/01/2026 17:26

Best of luck OP. Do DM if you need a London based EL.

Yes.

Could anyone link the thread? I read it before work today, and can’t find it now. Was sad about the update but would like to read what actually happened.

Absolutely check with a lawyer- I’ve been through ‘voluntary’ redundancy and you really really need to speak to an employment lawyer because all sorts of things can be hidden in lawyer speak

It’s been deleted at OP’s request due to information that might prejudice any settlement agreement.
