The CEO just called to say mothership agrees to my counteroffer 😭 Just waiting on paperwork. They liked the fact that I spotted the end date they set is before reporting deadlines and I offered to stay extra couple of days to complete.

Does those extra couple of days you've offered to work, take you over the 2 year period?

R u a member of an accountancy body. If so it’s not that quick or easy to set up freelance for a short period. It can be done but there are hoops to jump through and costs involved.

Probably but it doesnt matter. Im getting a lovely pay off, got small contract lined up and reached out to few contacts already to get my name out there. Super grateful for them to increase the money and im happy to leave with good review and people remembering me well

In the UK you dont have to be registered with Accounting body. Just AML.

What I learned from MN last year (sacked, settlement etc) was that loads of us are going through it. I know we all need to work to live, and I'm working again. I don't mind my job - and will stick with it for a few years,

Not sure I will ever get back to a job I might "love", and feeling a bit disillusioned by the whole world of work though.

I'm glad that I can get paid well for driving heavy plant vehicles tbh. Part of why I left office work is that I hated all the politics. If you want to be a high earner then it's probs the way to go but £65k and very low stress is enough for me.

Life is all going off. Forms for redundancy all signed so case of surviving till the end of notice period but haven't found new job yet and have been a bit slow as ex re-emerged after 2 years of no contact with me and DC and is threatening court 😬 No respite 😭

How did the small contract you had lined up go?

Ive got 2 small ones so some income for the foreseeable. But it doesnt replace the income I was on.

Contact with DC after 2 years of absence and an addiction.
