Not much work and low pay but not much choice if you can't go out to work unfortunately.

@carosel2 @juju1507 I must admit I have given up reporting lack of VR as it is just too time consuming trying to deal with the helpdesk and getting things sorted. But I didn't notice any more than usual today. I think in general VR is getting worse not better anyway. Seems to miss out whole phrases a lot - of words that are very clear. Yesterday I had a load of letters with no capital letter after a full stop which was very time consuming.

As far as I can see the lack of VR seems to be mostly with the transfer from old to new templates (as when some ENT switched) , or possibly transfer from those doctors who still dictated via a fully typed system to VR, and either, as I was told before, they had not switched on the VR facility or the new templates had not been set up properly for them as I see this mostly with new consultants that I have not had access to before. I wonder if the new person in charge of doing this work, since the previous person left after maternity leave, is not so technically proficient at their job.

@Gally123 nicely put with no names but obvious!!

I've had a truly awful day today. I manged okay yesterday, but it has been as if all my usual clinics have been totally cancelled, nothing new from yesterday. Hope it picks up for the rest of the week. Had some work on DICT8, which is just as well. Has anyone else found the workload low? Or just me...?

carosel2 · 29/10/2024 19:20

@Gally123 - ive really struggled.yesterday and today to get my quota for the day. Ive typed all day on specialties not familiar to me trying to pick out decent dictations to try make some money at least. Ive earned about £23 and £19 today, not good at.all and Ive typed for 6 hours plus. I also noticed a lot of green tasks on the hospital that I was told I couldnt type unless was red dissapear on a regular basis on Friday which made me livid as it seems others can get away with it

Gally123 · 29/10/2024 19:56

@carosel2 I wonder if last Friday when you saw the green tasks go that people were saving them ready to do on Monday as they thought work would be low?

carosel2 · 29/10/2024 21:12

@Gally123 - not sure but there was nothing but red over weekend in that particular speciality which were horrible ones and i did them them all Sunday and today in same speciality lots of new green were mounting up with good docs all with up to date tasks today and theyve all gone today when I looked this evening. Ive been deliberately monitoring them. I was told to put tasks back in the queue the other week telling me I couldnt save green ones then this happens today again when ive struggled with crap dictations, different specialties to what Im not familiar with and red so its not fair when I was told to put mine back and just type red by the TL but yet others have been allowed to type the good up to date today. Its a p take!

olddoglover · 31/10/2024 17:30

It always depresses me when I type my invoice and see the invoice number and realise how long I have worked for a particular company. I had hoped to move on to something better but sadly that hasn't been the case. Oh well should be thankful for them I suppose as there is nothing else around.

I have been away from typing for a couple of months - what on earth has happened to the quality of dictation on Dict8! Not one audible this morning.....

Newinmarch22 · 04/11/2024 10:01

Yes totally agree with you. The dictation is absolutely dire and getting worse, especially in Rheumatology.

Chriscal · 04/11/2024 13:02

@Newinmarch22 yes, I could not agree more - I have all but given up again

carosel2 · 07/11/2024 14:17

Here we go again!!! no VR on all of one doctors dictation! Fed up of highlighting this as they just say there isn't an issue! 👺and it is a regular doctor, they aren't new

olddoglover · 07/11/2024 14:58

@carosel2 Yes it's happening a lot now. Hopefully if we all leave them they will realise there is a problem.

@olddoglover @carosel2 - I spoke to TL earlier this week about the returned letters and she said that the IT chaps were working on it as there had been a change of template, which I think we suspected.

Gally123 · 07/11/2024 15:03

@olddoglover @carosel2 and to add that the TL herself said the typed the returned letters with no VR - there must have been about another 30 yesterday.

carosel2 · 07/11/2024 15:23

@olddoglover - @Gally123 yep! I have typed 18 so far with mixed doctors and still typing from scratch, this is taking a lot longer and I think we should be paid more money! but fat chance of that

Anyone else seen that pop up screen about new log when they log into DICT8? It was all beyond me so I think I shall have to give up typing for them. For a start I cannot scan a QR code on my laptop. They mentioned a system similar to that which banks use but my bank uses 3 different passwords, nothing fancy. Might have to find work elsewhere....

deewu · 15/11/2024 11:19

@Gally123 I think you can also opt for a text message if that works for you. It is quite straightforward and I think you only have to put in a new code every 60 days if you tick the box.

Gally123 · 15/11/2024 11:25

@deewu - how do I get a text message?

It's ridiculous as they claim the banks use this system and other companies but I have not come across anyone else. Usually it is via email. They say it is for security but the number of people who share mobile phones or keep upgrading to new ones, it's asking for trouble. They said it will start before Christmas so at least I can get my November pay "cheque."

carosel2 · 15/11/2024 15:07

@Gally - no I dnt do much work for them.at all now as everytime I log on there is never any work and I.work for two of the busy specialties but understand that will be a massive problem if you dont have a phone. They dont think of these things do they, they just assume. 😟

Gally123 · 15/11/2024 18:13

@carosel2 I emailed in to ask and was told they are not sure when it is happening. The woman who replied to my email said she would check with whoever and get back to me, but of course I have heard nothing since. So that will be that very soon. I did not do much for them but found it worth it to keep a foot in just in case, as other companies are fluctuating with work levels.

carosel2 · 17/11/2024 12:22

@Gally123 - I don't understand the benefit in why they are doing it for the transcriber but if its for security for them like you say mobile phones are lethal! How many times do you get calls from dodgy people who pretend to be the tax man etc or Royal Mail saying you have a parcel to collect when you don't and are asking for your bank details, as they have managed to get your mobile number from somewhere, its a backwards step to me. They would be better making it a rule that passwords are changed on a regular basis on their site like they do in some NHS Trusts.

Gally123 · 17/11/2024 13:47

@carosel2 - it surprised me because, as I told DICT8, banks do not use this system. My bank uses 3 sets of passwords, the final password being that of random characters. Someone I suspect was trying to be too clever, and it make come back and bite them on the bum.

deewu · 17/11/2024 16:20

@Gally123 when I set mine up I thought I saw an option to receive a text message. Unfortunately now I have set it up I will not be able to see it again. I think it may have been under the QR code but you may still need the verification app.

Incidentally my bank often sends me a code to authenticate a payment but this is obviously different from just logging in on a trusted device.

Hopefully they will come back with a solution for those who do not have a smartphone fingers crossed.
