Anyone else doing medical transcription at home?

Not much work and low pay but not much choice if you can't go out to work unfortunately.

@Gally123 Yes I expect it is a different site. I’m finishing for a couple of weeks as off on my hols this weekend 🙌 looking forward to the break.

@juju1507 -hope you have a good break. I'm off for a few days in 2 weeks time, just had the final details emailed through, momentary panic when I could not open anything up, then when I had managed to access it wished I hadn't with all the rather vague/negative instructions such as what to do if transfer does not turn up etc sounding like 9 times out of 10 they don't, filling me full of hope and joy...

Thought I would share a VR giggle with you this morning, I'm sure we all encountered such patients when working in the hospital setting - "Patients name attended consultant sober this morning" (I changed it to "consultant's OPD" as dictated).

@Deewu - no just checked. Dont understand how they work, sometimes they are really quick but suppose it does say 7th day which will be Saturday so hoping itl be no later than tomorrow as itl breach if its next week!

I'm picking up a lot of blank tasks this morning. I know in the past sometimes when my internet blips at the time of uploading that nothing uploads but the weather is not too windy at the moment and I have had several blanks in succession -anyone else noticed this? I do remember one morning there was an IT issue and all were blank, also if the dictator has switched off the VR this happens, but it seems to be an odd mix this morning.

@Gally - found a different specialty in one of my favourites so I decided to put it in the right one as you can change this where you change the template letters. I moved it then went into that speciality and picked up the same task and all the text had dissapered. Normally there is that facility where you just click body and paste the text on to the page if it does this but there wasnt that facility with this so I just typed it anyway blank to get it out of the way. I wonder if thats what had happened the other day to you that tasks had been moved if they had been put initially in the wrong speciality and then moved to right one and the dictation got lost on movement. Just a thought

@carosel2 - I don't know but it was just strange that every task I picked - three or four in a row, all dictated/uploaded about the same time and by different dictators - had no dictation. And I had not noticed any small blips in my internet to indicate that dictation had been lost my end whilst uploading, that would be very unusual to happen four times in succession.

@Gally123 - very odd. Ive had plenty of work today and yesterday though

Not about typing, but for all those affected by current situation - or family and friends - there are a couple of petitions about (just google them) giving a vote of no confidence in the current government or the labour party. Two months in and what have they achieved? Axing winter fuel payments and lettering dangerous criminals out on the streets.

@Gally123 - possibly scrapping bus passes and making pensioners pay for their prescriptions, the list is endless and frightening, but these transcription companies won't cater for that will they by giving us a pay rise no doubt!

@carosel2 yes I heard bus passes were next on the list. I thought making us pay for our prescriptions had been decided against as it might stop people working if they could not afford to pay and were thus ill - and might claim benefits instead.

As for a pay rise.....

@Gally123 - thank god because I'm on 9 different medications and need some every month. Pay rise - yeah well we all know the answer to that one 👺

@carosel2 - oh yes, apparently they are looking at doing away with the single person council tax allowance, so that a single person pays as much as two people in a house/dwelling or a family of 10 etc. It's just not right.

@Gally123 - I thought this government were to look out for the ''working class/vulnerable . blaming the last one to justify why they are having to do the things proposed is just a cop out. This work does not pay enough and I am looking now at other things to see if I can bring in the pennies a bit more easily and readily but I am contemplating weekend and evening work as I am committed during the day because I help out with my grandkids so I am stuck. At nearly 65 I didn't really want to do this but it looks like it is going to have to be seriously considered. Saying that on a good note, there are plenty of tasks on at the moment! 😀

....as I said, plenty of work but all I seem to be typing is reds and although they are in my specialty they are very poor dictations. I have put up with this for a few days now and typed nothing else and at the end of the day they have just about disappeared but when I log in, in the morning again lots more of all the same horrors have appeared. I'm doing some of the others today for a change as I've had enough😡

@carosel2 - this government is only looking after the unions when it comes to workers, unfortunately. I finally get some in the red that are my speciality then I get "asked" to do something else. Yesterday was a dreadful struggle and I hoped today would be better. My only hope is that I am likely to get some inheritance in the next few months (sadly after a bereavement), that will hopefully ease the pressure a little although I expect that will be heavily taxed so there might not be much at the end of the day. Likewise until then I am looking at other things as although there is work, they don't seem to want us to do what we know.

I've just picked up another blank task, however someone had cut and pasted the previous history as directed and then put it back in the queue! Definitely something odd going on with all these blanks tasks.

Yes ive had a blank task too but it was one doc I do so it wasn't a problem but I could understand it if it was left as they mumble but fortunately I have done them regularly so I knew what was being said
