Been quietish today but now at 6pm, 45 tasks waiting and the 5 listed are ethnics and abominable, some disappear and 5mins later are back !!!!

Feel your pain, I tell my lot to play quietly as I'm working 😂🙄

@cathyk2002 : Bless her my grand-daughter talks non-stop and is on the go all the time and takes over my laptop to watch A for Adley/Peppa pig and play games. Works is impossible in the scenario. I try to do 2 hours B4 she arrives and if I am not too knackered LOL 2 hrs at the end of the day

Yep, mine are the same but I worked in an office where there were lots of people traffic & conversations going on so can switch off to the noise, they usually have their tablets with them or use mine when they 'die' !!😅😅

Goodness, my speciality has been going like a fair past couple of days & at this time of 17.44 there are over 80 tasks waiting & I've been hard at it since 8.30 this morning !!😓

Finally got round to filling in my tax form. Slight shock, although I was expecting to pay more tax this year as earned more with Tpro and had no huge expenses this year, however was more than I expected. So might need to use an accountant to double check things! @Chrissols How did you find your accountant?

@Gally123 I just went on-line and googled ones close to me (thinking I would have to go in, but I have never had to, all communication is via email). I emailed about three for a quote and chose the one that sounded best. All I have to do at the end of the year is email them what I have earned that year and they do the rest - so easy 😊

@Chrissols the tax I am told I owe is almost four times what I paid last year and no way did I earn four times as much!

@Gally123 Wow, there’s something wrong there isn’t there. Have they changed your tax code? But even so, it shouldn’t raise it that much should it.

@Chrissols not having a good day at all! Tried to order a new induction hob over the phone with AO. First I get someone who sounds like schoolgirl who does not know what she is talking about, then I get hit with hidden charges - then she told me my credit card was blocked...phoned back and spoke with a man who then tried to charge me more by adding in their insurance. Credit card still blocked so phoned bank. 40 mins in the queue to speak to the Fraud department who had no idea why. Asked if I received a phone call to verify while I was trying to make the payment and I said no - I was using the phone at the time (and as they know I only have a landline)...hopefully the rest of the day will be okay.....

As to the tax, I can only assume that I earned enough to get into the next payment band, I know sometimes it can jump a bit. Not much incentive to work...

Oh dear, always when one thing goes wrong it seems to escalate doesn't it. The next tax band would be once you earn £50,000 wouldn't it? We get £12,570 tax free, then anything after that up to just over £50,000 is 20% and over that it goes up to 40% from what I understand.

@Chrissols I dont know. I remember I once amended my form by £5 and my payment due increased by £20.

@Chrissols - looking back over my last tax forms I think that previously working for DICT8 I only just earned over the threshold levels to pay both tax and NIC 2/4, now with TPro and earning that much more it has increased both tax and NIC 2/4. I am not actually sure if I did pay NICs previously as if they deduct the tax from profits before taking NICs that might have taken me below the threshold, if you see what I mean. (They show the workings out differently over the years on my saved forms so not easy to compare).

Well just typed two long atrocious tasks (same doc), sent apologies because of umpteen timestamps. My reply was:-
No need to worry, thank you for letting us know we are just grateful you have tackled this particular doctor as everyone seems to leave him and no wonder as we have a struggle finding the answers you have queried! Its a big help with what you have tackled so far as you have managed to type most of the transcript anyway. We will send a little message to the hospital as we also give feedback to the doctors too, but many thanks for all your hard work to-date 😊with smiley face! ..... that message was from Tpro by the way NOT Dict8

@Chrissols when you fill in your tax form and claim £1,000 expenses - how do you do this? I asked the accountant and he says it is a tick box in section 10.1 of the business section - but I cannot find it!! Do you tick a box or just enter £1,000? I really hate doing this form!

@Gally123 my accountant does it for me, but if you can hang on till tomorrow I will fish my last return out and look through it

@Chrissols - that's okay, thanks I think I have found it. I could not see a tick box as mentioned but there was a box marked "Trading Income Allowance" and I just entered £1000. The accountant I spoke to said I could also amend the previous year's form but that seemed too much trouble and my expenses were much higher then anyway as I bought a new laptop. However, it all went through and now my tax owed is not so much - although the problem with the really high figure is apparently once the tax owed is more than £1,000 they then assume you will owe the same amount the next year - and add half of that in as well, so I was originally being charged one and a half year's tax and that was why it was so high!

@Chrissols - I have double checked with HMRC and I think I have done it correctly. Phew. As suspected, not a tick box, but just enter the amount. I shall know for future.

@Pinksville i know! It’s pathetic really! At the end of the day we’re just doing what we are supposed to be doing! Getting it right every letter! My other half used to laugh every time I read them out, now I just delete without reading!

Yep, I had nothing for a while then got 2 of praise one after the other, back to nothing again. Soon be time to submit for payment again 😅
