Hi all, has anyone else started a new thread yet?

OP posts:
danblack87 · 17/08/2022 14:01

@Frazzledbynature : I take the long ones if they are there and indeed clear. I tend to go more for the mid-length dictation. I do the real short ones if there is nothing else available!!!! I find the real short ones move the list but you really do earn a pittance when it involves notes!!!

nomadchild · 17/08/2022 16:41

Good day for me today, its my new supersonic keyboard that's made the difference. Re letters I tend to do a few short ones to warm up and then I always pick the longest to get the money rolling in faster. Luckily 2 of my specialities are always long letters so that helps,

Lindsaychad123 · 18/08/2022 12:46

hi i don't know if everyone knows but there is postal strikes - Friday 26th August, Wednesday 31st August, Thursday 8th September, and Friday 9th September i dont know how this will effect getting cheques this month and not sure what postcodes and if it effects everyone but my postie mentioned it this morning.

Meha5a · 18/08/2022 13:15

Perhaps we should all go on strike !!

joewe41 · 18/08/2022 15:13

Just logged on as had been busy today. First letter fine and second letter I gave up - not only was the person practically whispering into the dictaphone but there was so much noise in the background it was impossible. Just not in the mood to do that to myself today, it's like a special form of torture.😩 How is everyone else? Might get more caffeine first

danblack87 · 18/08/2022 15:19

@joewe41 Slow day for me.

Frazzledbynature · 18/08/2022 18:01

danblack87 · 17/08/2022 13:55

Oh my word!!! I am thinking about giving up today already. Perhaps early dinner, early bath and a bottle of Vino .. oh, it's that bad. 🙄

:( hope tomorrow proves better for you.

I've been productive, got the quota in this morning, did some family stuff just had another hour. I've got ahead this month with just 2.4 days ish to do of regular quota i might be done this month by tuesday. I need a few days off though so it should work out well. :D not had a break all year apart from when i was too sick to type.

joewe41 · 18/08/2022 20:56

@Frazzledbynature Sounds like you need a break. That's the worst of this, don't work no pay. I'm back on and picked up a couple there that aren't so bad but calling it a day after this one. Hope the vino helped @danblack87 😃🍷

Chrissols · 19/08/2022 09:09

I haven't done any for a few weeks now - but I do still log on everyday just to see if there is anything clear to do. Everyday there are five not moving so I just do other work (one company pays less and one company pays more so it evens itself out). Dict8 used to be my favourite but the quality of dictation lately has been the worst ever, in my specialities anyway (four.

danblack87 · 19/08/2022 10:04

Morning campers!!! Hope you are all well. Just about to log in to see what today is bringing. @joewe41 Enjoyed the 'bottle' of Vino, after bath. Read a book. Feel relaxed, so far!!!

Frazzledbynature · 19/08/2022 10:47

Morning all,
having a "famine" day today, got work, crap dictation, managed a coffee and a shower so far waiting for movement. time for second coffee. the dictation is crap today.

interesting information bit....

i was talking to my old pal who moved on from our department to Oncology who said their department were testing out a dictation software in september in a bid to get rid of Winscribe. The Doc dictates it, the typist then edits it. from my experience of that with using Word to dictate my stories in, i soon diverted back to typing out what i've dictated rather than the hassle thats left for me via Word. I've not enough time for that kind of time sink.

I wonder what the software will make of err.... errr. errrrm 😵

Lindsaychad123 · 19/08/2022 11:24

I used to use G2 in my old department it was actually okay in it got most of the words if the doctor took their time and was clear but we all know that doesn't always work. there was an odd word or two per consultant no matter how clear they were G2 always put it as something random though so that could be funny at times.

Meha5a · 19/08/2022 12:43

we had Dragon in our department for a secretary with RSI. I have wondered for a while whether to get something similar on my computer for DICT8 instead of typing all day long !

danblack87 · 19/08/2022 13:24

Where I worked they thought about using 'BigHand' but chose instead Dict8. Dict8 all the secretaries felt Dict8 was best and it worked well on the other side of the desk. Blips and stuff to correct but mostly faultless. So, when I left NHS that is why I applied to Dict8

Frazzledbynature · 19/08/2022 15:15

Fascinating accounts. when i started with Dict8, I'd just been recommended word with dictation, i did try it but it didn't work. I'm still happy to type but on balance, perhaps that method would allow more movement, at least without a foot pedal you could put a cycling machine under there and listen to tunes while you worked like other desk jobs. I know, in another universe right?

I'm just done for the day, took a long lunch and had another hour, tried closing that quota gap, i think i've a days worth of typing before deciding whether its this month to take break or leave if for the cooler days.... spoiled for choice.😥

have a great weekend everyone x

joewe41 · 19/08/2022 15:31

@danblack87 our hospital used Big Hand for the work flow and the department I worked for had some stuff on Dict8 as well. Don't come across it very often.

deflatedbirthday · 19/08/2022 15:40

We use bighand at the trust I work for. It works but it's not amazing.

Cherryblossom114 · 21/08/2022 14:46

@Newinmarch22 I see we have the same list 🙌 somebody to share my pain !! How you doing ? I will not eat for next few days if my life depended on DICT8... This is DIRE
🌻

Newinmarch22 · 22/08/2022 08:27

Cherryblossom114 Morning, I have just logged on and dire dictation once again, am giving up for the day already and off to the beach! Good luck

Gally123 · 22/08/2022 09:36

@Newinmarch22 - I had to smile that you are off to the beach - it is grey and cloudy here, been windy all weekend and rain is forecast. Hope you have better weather!

Frazzledbynature · 22/08/2022 11:03

Morning, hoping to be the last day of the month today, slow start then lots of hard going ones turned up. I'm struck down with an ongoing increasing headache thats not good and all i need is at least 2 x decent 2 - 3 minute letters just to get me to target then i can have a holiday. No such luck 😐

joewe41 · 23/08/2022 12:54

@Frazzledbynature Not that it's funny at all but I'm stuck with the whisperer again. 12 mins has turned into an hour 😂 Did you get to your target yesterday?

danblack87 · 23/08/2022 14:40

I had some weird echo-ey ones today - like they've gone through some sort of automated system of dictation .. weird

nomadchild · 23/08/2022 16:00

After 4 good days today have hit a brick wall with awful dictation just stuck there. I will always do a dreadful one to clear it but even I can't attempt them today. So frustrating when you wake up early and think I'll do a good days work today.
