Hi all, has anyone else started a new thread yet?

OP posts:
danblack87 · 12/07/2022 22:55

@Meha5a I wish had the courage to do that!! I'll stick with what I do for now as it suits me and my family ... but comes a time I will need to get out into the 'real' world, which does instil trepidation. I don't do office politics/bullying or using the congenial to take up all the 'crap' which is what I used to do. I do like to be my sort of own boss so might not go down too well. First interview, 2nd and 3rd I will probably fail; hence, I am not ready to put myself out there yet ... I know I can do what I do, swimmingly well BUT just not ready. Building myself up to it guys !!!

danblack87 · 12/07/2022 23:03

I am on DWP and ESA for 2 years now - I really DO want to get there (back in the world and communicate socially in a workplace) but, unfortunately, disability (mentally and physically) prevents me from doing so. I am all legal though and registered self-employed. To be honest, as difficult as dict8 can be 60% of the time it is actually a good thing for me. Wow I said it, got me a long time to get there.

danblack87 · 12/07/2022 23:08

Thing is I know I want to get out there but not NHS and I am limited in what I can do. I have good days and lots of bad days.

Chrissols · 13/07/2022 07:01

I don’t even want to go back in any workplace these days. I do a bit of bank still for the NHS, but even do that from home. I know for the social aspect I probably should, but I’m not far off 60 so feel I’ve had my share of office politics now, even though I won’t get the state pension for seven years (up to now anyway, it will probably have gone up to 95 by then).

Frazzledbynature · 13/07/2022 12:08

Sorry guys just caught up with all the thread. I was too hot to care with dict8 on Monday, we did a shop and flop ha ha.

Yesterday I did the bare minimum with two fans trying to cool me down and today same again, started early loads of work on i guess it’s too hot for other transcribers today. However, I have passed my "quota" and that’s all I do. I'm too stiff to do any more and need to get out of the house a bit while it’s "cooler".

#I'm never going back to NHS, left mainly due to that office politics we all hate, its screwed my mental health and happy being at home just as long as I get the amount of money I planned on getting once I left, sure it takes longer than it would going into the hospital environment but take away the travel costs which would be horrific now and time travelling, I guess its justifiable alongside the fact I can hang my washing out when i want, eat etc. I'm not bothered about going into the workplace now; I look at this as a semi retired type role and look forward to a few years like this before drawing on a few pensions at 60. See how it goes.

#I got feedback yesterday, which was nothing like i expected it to be. I was brain dead with lack of sleep but instead I got told off for incorrectly spelling a heading which I’ve never even been pulled for EVER! and the spelling of someone I can’t even recall typing out yesterday which threw me, can't tell you if the person was a Dr or a patient😂

#I got lucky with my footpedal i got one second hand around £50 off ebay when i first started and it did pay for itself and then, get this, I found someone giving one away on the Oleo app for free, so its my back up one.

I'm truely past worrying about feedback and try and look at it like Whitestar55 if I hadn't found this place I may have quit so thanks for all of your feedback, its more than welcome! mwah! X

Newinmarch22 · 13/07/2022 15:52

Looks like we are all in the same boat at the moment with the feedback. It is definitely disgusting bullying which would not be tolerated anywhere else, probably even the NHS. I think they have got new proof readers who are on a power trip, how sad are they.

danblack87 · 13/07/2022 16:36

@Newinmarch22 This is going to bite me in the ass I know but I have not had feedback now for more than 6 months/ You watch that feedback come in now.

Newinmarch22 · 13/07/2022 16:38

Same here and then suddenly about 6 or 7 letters full of crap!

Chrissols · 13/07/2022 17:01

Me too.......none for ages, and then 'Bang' in it comes with a vengeance 😂😂

Whitestar55 · 13/07/2022 17:17

When it comes I'm ready with the delete key 🏹💩

deflatedbirthday · 13/07/2022 18:24

@danblack87 I've not had any either and I know full well I've made errors (which I've noted) so it leads me to question how random the checking is!

Whitestar55 · 13/07/2022 18:40

I think I'll ask DICT8 if they can add the 💩pooooo icon to the function bar. It will be very useful for the notes box and maybe even the main letter typing box.

Raisingboys22 · 13/07/2022 20:01

i just skim past the feedback, it’s the same old! I still work as a sec part time in the nhs so this was something to boost me up abit with the children being so young. I think typing in the day and then again at night is frying my brain even more

Frazzledbynature · 14/07/2022 13:30

Perhaps an automated email reply to their feedback emails with the word "really?" and a picture of your choice! 🙄

😂

Meha5a · 14/07/2022 13:59

I found myself going rogue the other day (think it was the heat), typed what I thought it should be not what was being dictated (utter crap by the way). Waiting in anticipation 🤣🤣

Whitestar55 · 15/07/2022 12:17

Just thinking about the scoring system that dictators have for the transcriber, this pees me off rather as most likely a bad dictator would be biased and give the transcriber a poor score, when the fault lies with the dictators inability to speak/record clearly.

OP posts:
Whitestar55 · 15/07/2022 12:18

Perhaps it would also be nice to know what our 'scores' are.

OP posts:
Chrissols · 15/07/2022 13:38

@Whitestar55 I know where I work, they very rarely 'score' - they have the four choices, very poor, poor, good, very good, but to be honest, unless the transcribing is truly terrible (which there have been one or two), then it's just left, which is a shame really as good work should be rewarded.

Meha5a · 16/07/2022 16:34

I should imagine the NHS is grateful for whatever they get back letter wise !!

user1493458352 · 16/07/2022 22:21

agree without a foot pedal so slow as I’m typing as they speak only stop the pedal after two sentences. Invest in a good pair of earphones it makes a hell of a difference what you can hear eg seinheiser brand. You can offset against yr tax yo recover the cost. So it’s a win win.x

Whitestar55 · 16/07/2022 23:10

If I listened to two full sentences before pausing I'd forget what they'd said 😂

OP posts:
user1493458352 · 17/07/2022 01:56

I’m doing it to guard against dementia 🤣🤣🤣

Chrissols · 17/07/2022 19:38

I would definitely get feedback if I listened to two sentences ahead as no way would I get it word for word 😲.

Raisingboys22 · 18/07/2022 09:04

Ridiculous feedback this morning, I’ve typed the correct word and they’ve sent me the wrong one which isn’t even a word 🤨

Whitestar55 · 18/07/2022 11:31

I think they must have voice recognition bots doing the proofreading and feedback now 😂
