JOB HUNT CLUB - support thread for those looking!

Octo · 07/01/2008 17:45

After finding a few others looking for a new job - here it is - the 2008 job club. Not planning to find you a job - more a support thread for people struggling to find a job!

So a few details will be needed:

age, area, job type, hours, thoughts

I'll go first:
35
Bath/Wilts
Teaching, education or self employed
Flexible - must do school drop off/holidays

Thoughts: most jobs that pay enough seem to be full time which can't do as must do school drop off. Seem to relatively over qualified for most jobs that aren't in education. Can't find anything interesting to do from home.

Welcome ranting housewife

I have sorted my lesson plan and know what to do - just need to think about what questions they will ask and my replies as such.

Also what to wear!

Dippy - have you got any further with the estate agents job thing?

I wouldn;t do brochure door to door either tbh - I have run my own nappy company before and it was hard work and you always worried about money coming in - but there were no childcare costs and working for myself was great. But with 3 kids now - going to work then coming home and not thinking about it would be much better.

TheIceQueen · 12/01/2008 13:04

oh can I join (only just seen the thread)?

I'm still on maternity leave - but due back at the end of the month......however I handed in my resignation to my old job as a Night Care Assistant so have nothing to go back to.

I'm 28, Northamptonshire (wellingborough), looking for any job that is either mornings only, or 2 (maximum) nights a week. Has to pay me £350 a month (minimum) so cleaning/check-out lady/anything will do.

Not sure what we'll do if I don't find a job!!

MozzybearBaileysIce · 12/01/2008 13:51

Hi Ice Queen

CD hope you're in better spirits today, I know its tough esp when no one it biting on the job front. It seems esp crap on a cold miserable january day.

Have decided to investigate going back to uni to do nursing. Looks promising, it just depends if I can get a place at my local uni and I can get my mil to do some extra childcare.

eddas · 12/01/2008 14:01

Hi ladies, I do have a job, but was seeing what you had all come up with to see if I could change

BTW, aat is a great qualification(it's what i have) and you would definately get a job from it. Lots of jobs advertised wanting that.

I saw a job advertised 1-2 days per week. Now i'd want to do 3pms a week. Do you reckon I should apply? Not convinced i really want to leave my place but it is crap atm

MozzybearBaileysIce · 12/01/2008 14:39

Hi eddas

I say give it a go, if you get offered the job, you don't have to take it.

TheIceQueen · 12/01/2008 19:11

hi Mozzy waves back***

It's so frustrating - especially as I "only" need to earn £350 a month - before Christmas I wasn't really looking seriously - but saw LOADS of jobs that I could have applied for that fit my requirements - but now I'm actively looking there seems to be nothing.

Another issue is that if DH and I re-arranged our "DS3 duties" (getting up in the night/early morning with him) then (in theory) he could leave for work earlier, get more sales (and therefore a bigger bonus) and I wouldn't have to work.

Problem with that is that in order for this to happen it takes 2 months (he gets paid his bonuses 2 months in arrears). So I need to work until this can happen, but if I work then he won't be able to leave for work earlier - which means that I will still have to work (are you with me ).

I'm sort of hoping that the money from my Grandad's estate comes through fairly soon as if it comes through soon(ish) then we'll be able to live on that while DH boosts his sales......but I'm not holding my breath.

Quite scary really - I need to have found a job by the end of the months, or one that will pay me the above amount at the end of February or we'll going to be seriously short!!

CaptainDippy · 12/01/2008 19:29

Welcome Eddas!

As regards Estate Agent job - I am just going to go to interview and check it out a bit further before commiting myself to anything.

Octothechildherder · 12/01/2008 20:09

Welcome Ice Queen and Eddas

Beauregard · 13/01/2008 00:05

Hope you are feeling ok today CaptainDippy
x

CaptainDippy · 13/01/2008 19:44

Not so bad, just tired - as per norm

Octothechildherder · 13/01/2008 20:17

14 and half hours to interview ....

CaptainDippy · 14/01/2008 11:34

Hope it has gone REALLY well this am, Octo honey! xx Do report back when you have the chance. I am meeting those Estate Agent people tomorrow at 1.30 once the 3 DD's are safely secured in the Asylum Nursery.

TheIceQueen · 14/01/2008 13:53

Octo - hope your interview went ok - I'm still desperately job hunting - there just seems to be nothing for the hours I need ....and I have just 2 weeks to find something [worried]

mochaccino · 14/01/2008 16:08

it's not just catalogue distribution.

if you are an avon lady, commissions are paid if you only make £70 worth of sales.

if you do kleeneze u make 21% profit on any orders no minimum and u take your profit before you pay the company

all that happens is you get paid to distribute the goods from the wholesalers to the customers. And if your sales are large enough the company kleeneze pay u a bonus on top of your profit!

part-time you can make between £50-£500 every 4 weeks, all depending on how much effort YOU decide to put in.

i felt when i first looked at it, that it seemed dodgy then i looked a bit closer, watched the opportunity dvd on this website asked questions to a distributor for over a month about proof of income etc.. to make sure it wasnt a scam, then
i got started.

now i have started i work part-tiem in accounts, have a 3 year old daughter as i am a single mum, i have a boyfriend/partner but he doesn't deal with my child and i make every 4 weeks between £250- £400 depending how much effort i put in.

i was only trying to let you guys know because its an opportunity open to everyone, expecially as it is flexible, if you want to do it full time you can, if you want to do it part time you can.

Have a look at the website www.fastforwardopportunity.com before you knock a perfectly good chance to make money, as thats why most of you are looking at this thread. and if you want further information go to www.we-pay.co.uk/16 or call 0845 873 8589 and u can have a FREE no obligation information pack sent to you.

all it takes is a few minutes of your time to check it out. then once you have looked feel free to not want to be interested.

but imagine if it could change your life by helping you pay extra bills and you knock it before u have even given it a chance

CaptainDippy · 14/01/2008 19:32

Oh, IceQueen - I know the feeling, I so need to find a job asap too - Really hoping something fab turns up for you soon. xx

Octothechildherder · 14/01/2008 19:46
