@Gally123 I never put an invoice in this time as never really worked with hols etc. Hoping there will be work this month, but very very slow at the moment.....😴😴😴

How's everyone been today?

OP posts:
Gally123 · 09/11/2020 17:00

DICT8 has been so poor today, hardly anything, so I have been doing T-Pro. The pay is less but at least it is something and I am hoping to get quicker at it.

Lucylizzy123 · 09/11/2020 17:28

Hi everyone. I have not had much to say recently. I too have been doing mostly TPRO work for the last couple of months. I am just about used to the accents now, and I find that VR really speeds the work up, so TPRO may pay less but I think at the end of the day you can earn so much more with them. Also there is absolutely stacks of work there all day, every day, so I have become less of a slave to the computer, knowing I can move away from the computer and when I come back there will still be work there. This has taken so much pressure off me I feel.

I just feel going forward after so many years with Dict8 I will reluctantly stop working for them. Their payment method is so archaic, and trying to pay a cheque into a bank in the current climae is an absolute pain. They paying in machines will not accept Coutts cheque for some reason, they keep spitting it out. TPRO are so efficient. They pay exactly on time and they seem to chase you to send your invoices in for processing. I find them very helpful and supportive. Not sure where Dict8 are going in the future, and that is sad as I have worked for them now for about 14 years, but reluctantly I will stop working for them at the end of the year.
Hope you are well out there.

Gally123 · 09/11/2020 17:59

@Lucylizzy123 - I was told by one man in the bank when I had problems using the machines with the Coutts cheque that it was the hologram - so if you try and cover that up with the paying in slip it usually works better, although now I go to the post office and send the cheque off. It is easier as it is just 15 mins up the road whereas the bank is a bus ride away (and back).

I am finding on the whole the accents with T-Pro less of a problem that I thought they would be, as ever it is the Asian doctors who I find more difficult.

Whitestar5 · 10/11/2020 11:00

Hi everyone, hope you are all okay. Just wanted to ask - those who know - about T-Pro regarding a CV and references - are these needed when applying to work with them? Thanks

danblack87 · 10/11/2020 11:16

Hello everyone. My cheque arrived on Saturday from Dict8, so quite quick. I was very busy yesterday and Sunday but today I have yet to see anything. Hope you are all keeping safe and well .

Chrissols · 10/11/2020 11:30

@Whitestar5 I had to send in a CV definitely but cannot remember re references, I think I did though, or I maybe just sent them anyway.
@danblack87 I hardly got any tasks at all yesterday and not a single one on Sunday. So far today though it's not to bad......hopefully it lasts 🤞

OP posts:
Gally123 · 10/11/2020 11:38

@Whitestar5 - I sent a mini CV with my application to TPro through their website. I was a little concerned about references but they did not request any. I had mentioned working for DICT8 on my CV and for some online typing companies typing for someone else for a while is enough of a recommendation. I also included my self-employment tax number, which also helps to indicate I have been a self-employed typist for some time. As part of the recruitment process I had to do a very short typing test.

danblack87 · 10/11/2020 12:23

@Chrissols: I have seen a handful now but they are not the regulars?!

Whitestar5 · 10/11/2020 12:28

@Chrissols and @Gally123 - Thanks for the information about T-Pro. I was getting a little concerned about the sporadic nature of work available with DICT8 and having to spend all day and evening at the computer to make enough money to scrape by on and putting all my eggs in one basket so to speak.

SamanthaBee · 10/11/2020 13:11

Hello. I too have been working for Dict8 for many years and the amount of work is now so low I need to find someone else to work for. I've applied to T-Pro but had no response :(. Can anyone recommend any other companies to apply to? Thanks.

Chrissols · 10/11/2020 13:26

@SamanthaBee there is a company called transcriptdivas, don't know much about them I'm afraid, I applied just as we went into the pandemic so they weren't recruiting, but they may be now. I think T-Pro had a backlog of applicants from around that time also so have just recruited quite a lot of newbies but they do tend to keep you on file and get in touch when you think they've overlooked you so don't give up hope

Thanks for the info.

Chrissols · 10/11/2020 16:01

Great day today, best in ages. No doubt it will be quiet tomorrow lol......

OP posts:
Chrissols · 11/11/2020 20:35

Well my day was certainly quiet.....no internet till now. How's it been for everyone?

OP posts:
danblack87 · 12/11/2020 13:46

Had an internet problem this morning but on-line now. I don't know whether I missed anything but I have only seen two so far Sad

Gally123 · 12/11/2020 14:28

@danblack87 DICT8 has been slow today again, as has the internet. When it is not slow mine drops out of connection at least once a day and I have to reset the router. It seems worse with lockdown and more people at home online.

I wonder if there will be a Christmas push with DICT8 this year? There was hardly anything extra last year.

danblack87 · 12/11/2020 15:28

@Gally123: Mine has been internet has been dropping out for two days and I had to reset my router yesterday and today. But this morning was the worst. I don't normally have a problem, but it drove me crazy/mad this morning. I agree more people are now working from home and it is definitely having an impact - hopefully, our internet providers will be taking this into account and trying to correct the situation .... Well, I can hope. I am with Virgin, who are you with?

Gally123 · 12/11/2020 15:41

@danblack87 - I am with PlusNet. I had a new phone line put in about two years ago as it came down following a storm. BT put a new one in quite quickly as the phone would not work and I have no mobile (I had to go to my sister's house to contact them). That was on the Friday and they fixed it the following Monday - the only problem was the woman who did it connected up the wrong phone number to the line the first time....so I know any problems should not be the phone line but the internet....

Chrissols · 12/11/2020 18:18

I am with Sky and never had any problems really until this week, it's been awful though this week. I am moving house in January so looking for recommendations for best provider. I will say, Sky charge more every single month.

OP posts:
Gally123 · 13/11/2020 09:58

talking of internet - I just have the basic broadband but I am thinking of upgrading to fibreoptic. What do other people have?

@Chrissols -PlusNet is cheaper for broadband and if you have a problem they are (slightly) more contactable than other companies but it depends whether you also have TV packages from Sky etc. It also seems to depend on where you live - there are some horror stories on their Facebook page (a good place to look if you are considering any company phone, internet, electric etc, to gauge the number and severity of complaints and their handling) with people signing up and then wishing they had not.

Chrissols · 13/11/2020 10:02

@Gally123 thanks for that, I may look into plusnet. I do have a package with sky at the moment, but with their ever increasing monthly bill and for what they actually show on their channels I am getting rid of it. All I need is phone line and wifi. I do have fibreoptic and find it a lot better so would want to stick with that.

OP posts:
Chrissols · 13/11/2020 10:20

Dict8 has certainly gone back to how it was a few months ago, no work whatsoever and when a task shows it's snapped up in a fraction of a second.....

Meha5 · 13/11/2020 11:22

Been with BT for years never had any problems. Been slow for me on DICT8 too
