Pay with Dict8

juju1507 · 09/03/2015 09:19

I have been working s/e with Dict8 for 3 years now and my payment by cheques are arriving later and later. My last cheque arrived 8 days after it was issued and I noticed they are now sending cheques second class. Does anyone else work for Dict8 on here and, if so, are you finding that your cheque is arriving much later than it used to? I have direct debits set up deliberately for the middle of the month in order that my cheque would have cleared in time but now I am worrying that even by 15th of each month the cheque will not have cleared. Sorry for the ramble but just curious if others have noticed this.

@juju1507 Thank you for that information. I'll look into opening a Revolut account. I also emailed my invoice yesterday and didn't get a reply but did notice that within the hour my cheque was processed!

JanSil · 07/04/2020 12:48

thanks @juju1507 - didn't think they would make it easy for us anyway : )

juju1507 · 08/04/2020 10:30

@ElleBee56 just a heads up my payment hasn't gone into my Revolut account from T-Pro. Having a quick look it might take 2-5 working days for it to appear!! so maybe you are better sticking to your usual account for it to be paid into? So far I haven't received my cheque from Dict8 and no BACS payment from T-Pro so I'm doing well so far Sad
No work on either sites at the moment either....arghhhhhhh

So now the 8th April. Still no cheque received from DICT8. I have had a postal delivery every single day so now am suspicious this may not even have been posted yet. My payment was processed on the 2nd April.!! Angry now.

JanSil · 08/04/2020 11:57

@Lucylizzy123 I had the same problem a few times last year without the current problems. I get your anger by the time that cheque is processed be time to put another invoice in. They really respect their transcribers don't they !!!!

juju1507 · 08/04/2020 12:07

@Lucylizzy123 I have a feeling the cheques will arrive tomorrow so they will not clear until after Easter which gives Dict8 extra interest in their account. It really stinks doesn't it!
@JanSil they don't give a hoot about their transcribers - if one leaves they just fill the gap. They certainly exploit those of us who have to work from home.

@juju1507 My BACS payment from TPro arrived in my account first thing this morning. I wonder if it could be the banks processing at the moment rather than TPro. They're usually on time. Who knows? No sign of my Dict8 cheque though. I think you're right about them not clearing until after Easter. I use the phone app to pay my cheques in which takes 2 days to clear which is faster than through the bank or post office but at this rate it'll be well into next week before the cheque's cleared and that's if it actually arrives before Easter! Really fed up with this.

juju1507 · 08/04/2020 13:16

@ElleBee56 My payment arrived in Revolut about an hour ago so that is something at least! I use the phone app to pay my cheque in too, it is really convenient (Lloyds bank limit is £500 for cheques being paid in via the Lloyds App) Not much chance of any of us earning over £500 at the moment is there!!

ElleBee56 · 08/04/2020 13:40

@juju1507 glad to hear your payment went into your account. Halifax limit is also £500. I try to keep it under that anyway so I can use the app. My intention last month was to do more work for TPro and try to save Dict8 earnings perhaps for holidays or Christmas. No chance of that happening now.

smiffypeabrain · 08/04/2020 14:15

So, JuJu, if you read your OP, you are in exactly the same position five years on!

juju1507 · 08/04/2020 15:03

@smiffypeabrain Grin yes you are right, here we are 5 years on and still waiting for Dict8 cheques to arrive!!

My cheque has just arrived! Deposited using the banking app and funds should be available on Friday.

Chrissols · 08/04/2020 17:21

Is everyone managing to find tasks now?

ElleBee56 · 08/04/2020 18:10

There was some orthopaedic tasks on this afternoon but I only managed to type 2. They went down fast.

Gally123 · 08/04/2020 18:14

Marginally better today than yesterday - yesterday was my worst day yet (and I thought last Friday was bad).

JanSil · 08/04/2020 18:24

@Chrissols, not too bad today - better in the AM than the PM for me

IamVictoria · 08/04/2020 18:58

I also got my cheque today and had a much better day, managed 868 lines so far. However, I did get an email telling me they were cutting my proof reading hours by half because of the downturn in workload.

Chrissols · 08/04/2020 19:05

I'm finding there is only one task coming on at a time and they are gone before you can blink

Gally123 · 09/04/2020 09:08

well no tasks this morning so far on the system, does not bode well for the rest of the day, especially remembering how in "normal" times there would be a rush to get letters out before the long weekend.

On the plus front - my cheque has arrived (for some reason the post is being delivered much earlier than the usual lunchtimes)- and further amazed - it was posted not using their cheaper second class franking machines but a first class stamp! Bet someone is in trouble for presumably not buying enough second class ones.

Chrissols · 09/04/2020 09:09

Oh yes, I forgot about the long weekend, so that's four days with no work

Lucylizzy123 · 09/04/2020 12:24

I too received my cheque today only eight days after processing!

I have paid into my bank account but had to wait in a queue for 45 minutes as bank only letting in one customer at a time. Okay doing that in sunshine today but cant imagine that in the rain and cold. Any chance you think they might introduce an "emergency BACS" payment system whilst in this current pandemic?

Gally123 · 09/04/2020 12:46

my bank when I went for something else recently was shut so I shall have to take it to the post office - and hope that is open on Saturday.

deewu · 09/04/2020 14:16

Received my cheque today and noted the first class stamp too. Also noticed when I deposited my cheque that the limit for Lloyds has been raised to £999, not that I anticipate earning that much any time soon :).

juju1507 · 09/04/2020 14:47

A positive - Yay, my cheque arrived this morning too with first class stamp! Negative - there is no tasks at all today!

My cheque came today too. Took it to the bank but it is shut until Tuesday!
