Pay with Dict8

I have been working s/e with Dict8 for 3 years now and my payment by cheques are arriving later and later. My last cheque arrived 8 days after it was issued and I noticed they are now sending cheques second class. Does anyone else work for Dict8 on here and, if so, are you finding that your cheque is arriving much later than it used to? I have direct debits set up deliberately for the middle of the month in order that my cheque would have cleared in time but now I am worrying that even by 15th of each month the cheque will not have cleared. Sorry for the ramble but just curious if others have noticed this.

how many lines is everyone average a day at present?

Gally123 · 09/04/2020 16:58

@smiffypeabrain - if you have a paying in slip you can take your cheque to a post office on Saturday - they should be open. They should have envelops for all major banks and will post off your cheque first class. (You need to fill in all the details). I normally do this if I cannot get to the bank. If I go there on a Saturday I usually see the money in my account Wednesday/Thursday.

IamVictoria · 09/04/2020 17:49

@Chrissols I can't give you an average day but so far this month I've done 5,348.

Chrissols · 10/04/2020 08:32

Gosh, I can’t find that many lines to type

Gally123 · 10/04/2020 09:11

@Chrissols I am averaging about £30- £40 a day now whereas before it was £45-£55, but it seems to be less every day/week, next week will probably be £20-£30 on current trends. I do have more than one specialty but at the moment there does not seem to be typing for all of them every day.

ElleBee56 · 10/04/2020 09:32

I made just under £20 yesterday. I can usually average between £30-£50 a day depending on how much I work for Dict8. I'm trying to do more for TPro, mainly because I can guarantee when I'll be paid. Unfortunately, though, there's been no work there.

flutterby18 · 10/04/2020 09:35

Can I just ask, do you all listen to the dictation twice to check it or do you just read through it. Only asking as I am trying to speed the process up whilst there is such little work. Thanks and stay safe everyone.

Gally123 · 10/04/2020 09:55

@flutterby I type it and then I listen to it again as I find that sometimes on a second go I can understand some of the foreign voices better esp when typed the whole letter to get the sense of it, and often can fill in the gaps or queries and this is when I leave the notes to drs etc. I sometimes slow it down to as this helps as well. Then I read it through to double check it. I know what you mean about speeding up the process but I dont want to let any errors slip through and with all the cr*ppy dictators I get - sometimes I can go all day with not typing one English person - I need to check and check again. Better, as I do want to do a good job even if it is not appreciated; I dont want the rude feedback.

Gally123 · 10/04/2020 09:57

@flutterby - also I find with using a foot peddle the stop/start can miss words out whereas on a second straight play through I can hear it all.

Chrissols · 10/04/2020 10:10

Yes I am only doing about £20 a day as can’t get the tasks. I always read through and reply as I agree that when the letter is typed it is easier to understand the more difficult pronunciation

Chrissols · 10/04/2020 10:10

Replay .....ooops.....typo

JanSil · 10/04/2020 10:14

Wow @IamVictoria out of everyone you seem to be doing three times as much !!! do you do all the specialities ? On a good day at the moment I am only averaging £30.00 when usually on a very good day it can be as much as 80/90 !!

IamVictoria · 10/04/2020 10:16

I listen again if I've put queries in to see if I can understand them on a second attempt, but usually only the bit with the query in. Occasionally if it's a short letter with a strong accent I relisten to the whole thing, but most of the time I just upload them right after typing. I'm lucky in that my main speciality, which is most of my workload, has mainly English doctors.

IamVictoria · 10/04/2020 10:20

@JanSil I have five specialities - and the day before yesterday I was extremely lucky to have about six 10-15 minute tasks! In normal circumstances I try to do 1,000 lines a day. Yesterday it was just over 400. Definitely going to feel the pinch at the end of this month.

IamVictoria · 10/04/2020 10:22

Just curious, how fast does everyone type?

Pay with Dict8
JanSil · 10/04/2020 10:25

@IamVictoria, I do four specialities and have had nowhere near that - lucky you! and yes I think we are all going to feel the pinch :(

Chrissols · 10/04/2020 10:38

That explains my lack of work, I only have one speciality. I type at an average of 75 - 80wpm so nowhere near @IamVictoria speed, but even if I was that fast, there are no tasks at present for me to type

flutterby18 · 10/04/2020 10:51

Thank you for all the replies. I also use a foot pedal and listen to every letter again. I obviously need to get these fingers going faster!!

carosel2 · 10/04/2020 11:13

@IamVictoria - wow! a proofreader who does not check her work! What is that then, do I say not as I do lol! I have never seen a task as long as 10 minutes! Think there is something going on here, I type for two specialties, (which I was told were two of the busiest) and I am lucky to get £5 to £10 a day! Even before the coronavirus. Makes me wonder even more so if the work is being put in to certain accounts and not others. I have worked for this company for six years.... and my feedback as been 'perfect', excellent and high standard, so it cannot be anything to do with my standard of work

carosel2 · 10/04/2020 11:14

'has' that was typed in fury!

IamVictoria · 10/04/2020 11:17

Calm down, I check as I'm typing - and all my feedback is positive so obviously it's not a problem. As for the long tasks, one of my specialities is Paediatrics which includes health assessments for looked-after children and autism assessment reports, which are usually the long ones, but even they don't come up that often.

carosel2 · 10/04/2020 11:29

That is not the point... but what you seem to be making is quite lucrative, so good luck to you

JanSil · 10/04/2020 11:31

@carosel2 - I think most grade 4 secretaries (DICT8 specification) average a good 70 - 90 wpm, but typing speeds aside, before I joined I read the whole thread and previously someone had commented they were convinced some were given preferential treatment ! One of my specialities also has health assessments, but I don't seem to be getting the same amount of work and its not for the want of trying either. I have been sitting like everyone else all day every day and the tasks are not coming my way, and bearing in mind we are only 10 days into the month and 2 of those days were wk/end days, over 5000 lines is quite something!

Mine too was typed in a certain way :)

TheMaeshoweDragonLady · 10/04/2020 11:40

Oh I used to type health assessments for looked-after children. It must help to know your way round the firms.

You type half as fast again as me 😱 105wpm with 100% accuracy is very impressive. Any tips for increasing speed?

Chrissols · 10/04/2020 11:46

I have just asked for more specialities to be added to my account, but I am not optimistic
