Work

Pay with Dict8

I have been working s/e with Dict8 for 3 years now and my payment by cheques are arriving later and later. My last cheque arrived 8 days after it was issued and I noticed they are now sending cheques second class. Does anyone else work for Dict8 on here and, if so, are you finding that your cheque is arriving much later than it used to? I have direct debits set up deliberately for the middle of the month in order that my cheque would have cleared in time but now I am worrying that even by 15th of each month the cheque will not have cleared. Sorry for the ramble but just curious if others have noticed this.

@danblack87 - I too on occasion have had the comment that I did not put in a paragraph, as obviously I did not feel it warranted. It is hard to judge sometimes, as there are dictators who start a new paragraph with every new sentence and others who have huge paragraphs with then a new one at the end of only a line or two.

As I have mentioned before, sometimes I think the feedback is unnecessary (and unhelpful if no context is given, ie the letter to which it refers) and makes me think such negative feedback is only to put us in our place (and not demand a pay rise as our typing is not perfect) and also I am sure there is some sort of bonus scheme or similar for the proofreaders to flag up as many "errors/faults" as possible.

Next thing you know we would all take this comment too seriously and get feedback 'putting in too many unnecessary paragraphs'! Please Dict8 we have been working in this medical arena and other professional areas for so long and are too long in the tooth to be pulled up on such a ridiculous non-error [you are supposed to type as you hear and if someone does not dictate: , ; : " ' or Para this is down to the dictator - This one feedback has really done my head in. We, as a collective professional secretarial body who do not need to be taught how to 'suck eggs' surely not? Angry AND we should be respected as Professionals for that is what we are!!!

I always make natural paragraph breaks (even when they are not dictated as suggested in the 'rules') so was very surprised today to receive 'feedback' that I had not done so on a task ... I obviously did not think that a natural paragraph break was warranted; [I could not recall a particular task of course - so the comment really was not very helpful] so, hence I did not put one in. I was rather miffed by this comment. I really do not think there is much point in pointing out 'such a mistake' if the clarity of the sentence/paragraph/dictation is not fully explained!! Shock.

Oh dear @Poppy379 - that's like me monday and Tues but has been quite good today. The name of the clinics I was thinking of running evenings and Saturday mornings were 'initiative clinics'. I put back 3 dreadful tasks today - I just thought I would hang on for a change. I did type one though but there were quite a lot of 'in the comments box' ?dictation unclear. Sad. I won't be typing evenings same as most, when you are looking at a blank screeen for +7 hours the heart of it seems to go out of it, I had a migraine the other day - I never get migraine!!

Not even 50 lines for me so far today, and I've been ready at my desk since about 7.30am. Mind you, I did put back one dreadful task so, who knows, I might have hit the dizzy heights of 70 lines had I not been so choosy!!

Possibly doing evening clinics to

Possibly running face-to-face evening clinics too like they used to do (can' remember what they were called - way back when I worked within the hospital in the past) ... £500 Consultant clinics 12 patients/clinic to reduce backlog waiting times?

I think some hospitals are doing evening Telephone Clinics at the moment.

Nothing for me today either, possibly five so far this morning. I agree last night was showing quite a few but I too was too tired to carry on typing. It would be nice for some routine to be back, so either type all morning or all afternoon, rather than continuously checking throughout the day. I feel I have become a bit of a slave to my computer, not what I am wanting at this point in life really but needs must I guess. I long for normality to return, to stop feeling like life is on hold.

@Gally123 I must admit I saw a few last night but really didn't want to get back on the computer after staring at it all day, already doing 12 hour days for very little return.......

@Chrissols I have done a couple this morning, but there is nowhere near the number I saw available last night 8-10pm ish, I typed a few then but after a day screen watching I was too tired to do more.
@Snakes23 - agree. A consultant I worked for couldn't understand a thing she had said when I played back her audio :) didn't make any difference though !!
@Meha5

That's hilarious; and the fact that it made no difference when the consultant realized how bad their dictation was Smile

I never considered that possibility. Good point.

It is quiet again this morning. When it suddenly improved at the beginning of the month I thought, good, hospitals are starting to get back to normal, however it has steadily decreased again since then. I am spending more time staring at a blank screen than typing.

Has anyone who was put on hold when applying to T-Pro heard anything from them?
