Sandie Peggie: Employment Tribunal, associated legal claims, and related matters - thread #64

TLDR version: Sandie Peggie vs Royal College of Nursing is currently being heard. The hearing started on Wednesday 23 September 2026 and is scheduled to end on Thursday 1 October 2026.

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims were of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claimed to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and after a prolonged process judgment was handed down on 8 December 2025. That judgment is being appealed and an appeal hearing is expected to take place in 2027.

Additional legal claims have been raised. Sandie Peggie is taking action against the Royal College of Nursing, against three senior managers who were witnesses in the employment tribunal - Dr Kate Searle, Dr Maggie Currer and Esther Davidson, against Carol Potter, the chief executive of NHS Fife, for victimisation, against NHS Fife for discrimination, and against its director of people and culture David Miller for harassment. In addition, Sandie Peggie is being investigated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council over fitness to practice.

Wow, the way he casually threw that out? It was a non sequitur. Probably works all the time for these bro’s. Snigger, snigger, snort, snort. They couldn’t care less about women, and the exposure to danger, in my opinion. It’s a ‘shut down’. Was it their guidance to allow any man who self declared himself to be a woman to waltz right into the women’s changing room? Considering his statement, was there a way of identifying, and blocking any man who was dangerous? Absolute performative bullshit he thinks makes him look as if there is some method to giving the men who want to enter the women’s changing full access. When they say magic words. And shut up complaining women. That is the watertight test, magic words.

No Stewie, not all individuals belonging to the male men sex class are dangerous. Not all men are dangerous. What is Stewie saying? That because every single man is not a perv, there should be no accommodation to take into account that the vast, vast majority of sex offences is committed by men. And women are the majority of their victims.

Don’t think Stewie is making the point he thinks he is making. He threw that in to cast aspersions on women not wanting to have men hanging around their female changing rooms.

Fuck off, Stewie. You don’t get to tell women they are bigoted for wanting comfort, safety or dignity. It’s not your place to try to insinuate women are bigoted for not wanting to be exposed to peeping, flashing, and potentially worse if in confined, and/or isolated spaces.

Edited to add: In that sequence, it seems Stewie can’t hear the word ‘woman’. NC talked about women being affected. Stewie can only talk about the menz. Half of the population. Gave birth to the entire human population on planet earth, and Stewie can’t seem to register or recognise when someone says woman, they are not talking about men. Any type of man.

I got the distinct impression that he's a bit lazy and does whatever involves the least amount of effort.

Right, I've roughly caught up on the thread (thank you all!) but I am impatient for a digested version. Nick Wallis's will be along in a few hours I assume, which is good. We don't know whether Michael Foran is doing a live today, do we? I think he said last week that he might today, but I've seen no more. I always miss the beginnings of them at least!

I am very much enjoying the fact that he has to go home and come back for some more……….

Re IB as far as I remember SP didn't pay that much attention to the news, what with working, and kids, and her dad's ill health and the dogs, oh and a man in her changing room, and just knew the news was going on about a man in the women's prison. She had no clue what that man had done originally.

Perhaps he’ll have a really bad cold tomorrow and will call in sick.
