How dim is Stella Creasey?

Today she tweeted about how great the Milad ad Nabi march was in Walthamstow.
Of course, it's segregated and the women get to march afterwards or celebrate in halls.
According to Stella, the Garrick Club is problematic because it only allows men to join. But this is fine.
I know that she is pandering to her constituency, but she really seems to have no awareness.

Not at all dim in my opinion. I think she is an incredible role model for young women and am impressed with how she handled the horrific rape and death threats. She constantly advocates for her E17 community in parliament.

I don't think you can argue against some voluntary sex segregation and simultaneously be demanding the right to single sex spaces. Everyone is entitled to single sex spaces - even if they are religious men.

Tend to agree. If religious groups want to separate by sex during religious events then that's for them to decide. It's a different situation than previously where, for example, a religious group was asking others to separate at a non-religious event.

I hope she has enquired as to how many transwomen are included and whether they are also welcome to join in with the women.

It's perfectly reasonable for a local MP to promote a community event in her constituency. What's not reasonable are these deranged attacks on people for not being GC. It adds nothing to the discourse other than to make us all look unhinged.

Yes, quite. It's very alarming just how comfortable some on here are at being abusive towards a female MP because she disagrees with them. We should be able to disagree without resorting to this childish nonsense.

The last bit is where her 'dimness' comes into it for me. If she had any sense she'd have shown both men and women or even, whisper it, mainly women. As it is she threw the women in as an afterthought.

If a religious group organises an event based on a religious event and members of that religion separate themselves (but aren't excluded) there's not really anything you can do about it. You might not like it, I might not like it, but they aren't saying no women can watch or be in the area.

For the record, I don't think this is the dimmest thing she's ever done. She may not even be dim, but she is certainly clickbaity.

I think that's a very strange question to ask. Do the women involved have no agency or right to their privacy? Should they be forced to mix with men who you say define them as less than? The entitlement to single sex spaces doesn't need to take into account the reasons behind it - otherwise you get into all sorts of pointless debates over whether our rights are justified. If you wish to argue that we are entitled to single sex spaces but men are not - then best of luck to you but I won't be partaking.

So an MP representing the varied people in her community? We would all be much better off if other MPs acted in the same way IMO.
